I travelled far to see this park and was very disappointed. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst parks I've visited. I've never had my dog want to go home so fast. The garden has not been kept at all, just a bunch of perennials amongst weeds. The main lake area has been blocked off for what looks to be renovations that look like they won't be completed for several years. The grassy parts are just a lot of young people hanging out, leaving behind litter everywhere. Don't go expecting much. Definitely, don't travel a far distance for this place. It's not worth the time or gas to get here. My advice is to go to Victoria Park in Kitchener instead. I've attached photos of what Waterloo Park looks like currently (June 17th 2021).

It was a cold, snowy night; I went there and walked for an hour. They decorated the park because of Christmas, and it was so cool. However, there was no open indoor place to get some coffee or warm drink.

Visiting Waterloo park was best experience. We went there after 7pm so we were lucky to catch this lightings and sparkling things. It has free entry. The fountain ⛲️ was the main attraction there. We were not able to cover everything in the park but we went to famous lightning and musical seesaws. Everyone was enjoying with family there. Place is very calm and fresh. It was very mesmerizing how the lake side area was looking at night.

This place lights up in an amazing way during Christmas time. Nice place to hangout with friends/kids/family. Spacious area to play around during other seasons. Good to just take a walk or with your pet too just to feel the nature.

A calming, embalming and tranquil experience. Spent an entire afternoon beside the lake, watching the lake and the geese. Took a walk around and saw some birds playing in the waterfall. There are lots of comfortable benches around and plenty of space to accommodate a large number of people. Also took a walk on the wooden bridge and in the geese filled gardens and observed lovely flowers sprouting out. I loved the purple hyacinths πŸͺ» They have such a sweet scent.

Nice little park, with a variety of areas for different interests. There was still construction going on when I visited, but hopefully it'll be done soon. Good spot for a walk around the small lake, especially with the new boardwalks over the water almost finished. Lots of parking.

Beautiful park with mature trees in the heart of uptown Waterloo. It has a walking/biking trial. Also has a few animals like lamas, peacocks, donkeys and miniature ponies. It has been recently renovated to add boardwalks by the lake and a small sandy beach area.

The harvest moon that over looks the arches of the bridge, sometimes cant believe how close I live to something so beautiful. Never a waste of time to walk under the bridge where the scenery is just as remarkable.

I've usually considered Waterloo Park to be one of the better parks in the region. With the recent renovations by the lake it remains near the top. The boardwalks and small "sand" beach (not swimmable) provide a nice location to walk through and explore. There are bike/walking lanes, it's the ION station and not too far from several locations to grab a bite to eat.

This place is just fine. Nice view, pathway goes under the bridge and it's well maintained. Again, it's just fine nothing spectacular.

  • 3/5 JC B. 4 years ago on Google
I mean, it's a bridge. Very structurally sound, mostly clean and the view is ok. At this time of the year (fall) all of the gaps on the sidewalks of the bridge are covered in cobwebs, so that's the only sort of downside. Lots of traffic during rush hour because it's only 2 lanes. It's ok overall though.

Great place for a family picnic, social-distancing visit with friends, or just a walk alone to enjoy the day. Ample parking, has sime picnic tables. Also a public bathroom that's open now during Covid-19. I recommend you bring own sanitizer and a face mask. It's a good idea to bring your own lawn chair or blanket.

Big fan of the park during the summer months. Lots of people around, sitting, picnics and sports to be played on the grounds. They just recently took out the Splash pad so not sure what will replace it. Not a big fan of the animals kept at the park but it does attract a lot of families. Worth visiting as lots of activities to do with friends and family.

Great place to walk, run or hang out with the kids and family, especially in the winter. The park puts on a light show every winter - kids look forward to it. A perfect example of how OVER-MANAGEMENT of parks destroys our valuable green spaces. The city has cut down roughly HALF of the trees in the park (mostly mature trees) and ruined the last remaining forest trails that were present in the park with their most recent project. The city shouldn't be striving to "illuminate" every square inch of the city. We need NATURAL areas in the city. Parks shouldn't be illuminated at night. Not every trail needs to be for cyclists. Apparently the trees were cut down to "improve the view" for the residents living in the apartment buildings across the street -- buildings which didn't exist 10 years ago. Thus, the creation of those apartment buildings has already contributed to the destruction of the park. It's a shame that the city can't see the damage that it's doing to our green spaces, denying people the right to have some public land in the city that isn't molested by humans. A park is supposed to be an un-illuminated green space with trees. It isn't supposed to look like a typical backyard.

Decent park in uptown Waterloo between all the upscale condos. In 2021 the construction does fences off the water from visitors but the trails are still worth a good walk, or cycling. I still wonder what the white chicken is doing with bunch of peacocks at the park.

Late May 2022, weekday. Waterloo, Kitchener, Guelph, Cambridge, Brantford, Hamilton, the golden Horseshoe regions have undergone great development in the past decades with clustering of immigrants. The Park is well kept and the Inn, Silver Lake are under rebuilt. The Light Rail threads through the park. a good place to relax a few hours here.

Nestled in the heart of Waterloo, this park is a serene oasis that offers a perfect escape from the bustling city life. It's a lovely park with rolling hills, climbing equipment, ample places to sit and have a picnic and some farm animals (donkeys). There are lots of geese and wildlife.
