What a lovely surprise! We had just been for a walk around Cuckmere and were looking for a bite to eat and happened upon this lovely pub. We were greeted straight away by the lovely lady that runs the Cricketer, who was very friendly. It was cold outside so was great to see the fireplace warming the place up inside! I was the pie of the day which was venison and it definitely didn’t disappoint! Perfect pastry too! My other half had scampi served with some gorgeous triple cooked chips. The prices were good too! We’ve been to a lot of country style pubs but this one really ticked all the boxes…including being dog friendly…really put a big smile on our face! Thanks

One of the best pub suppers we have had for ages. We had really well cooked tenderloin of pork and a seafood gratin. Good puddings too, and wine around £25 a bottle. Dinner for two for £70 really good value. Lovely atmosphere in old pub with walls covered with cricketing prints. Rustic charm. 3 smallish rooms for dining and pub bar in the middle one. Quite full even on a rainy Thursday. Best to book.

Bought my dear Papa along for a little birthday lunch. The location is so lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful. The service and food were spot on. I enjoyed the fish pie and Papa had good old fish n chips, which he loved and took his to savour along with a pint of bitter shandy (he had a good nap when he got home..haha!). We will definitely return here.

Lovely pub! We stopped here for lunch and a pint on our country walk and were very happy with our decision. The homemade chips were really good, definitely recommend. We both enjoyed our burgers as well.

Booked a table for 6 on a Sunday and we had a range of meals from roasts to burgers, and my self the salmon dish which I have to say was OUTSTANDING. Very homely feel to the place with happy enthusiastic staff. We will definitely go back when in the area again

Came down to visit family in sussex. We went for lunch on a tuesday, never expected it to be that busy. We knew the food was going to be good. It did not disappoint. It was one of the best pub meals i've had in such a long time. Not only was my dish very tasty, but the portions were very generous. If you are in that area ,definitely look out for this pub. The staff were excellent too.

Had a roast dinner..very nice but far too much salt on roast potatoes? Why? Then another time had a ploughman's the cheeses had little flavour and hardly any bread? Another time had the ciabatta and that was very good! Last time I ate there I had the burger which was excellent! So when I go there again and I will as I like the pub..it will be ciabatta or burger?

Brilliant meal shared between family of six. Food was excellent and varied with several gluten free options, useful for my family. My husband sat in and talked to locals whilst we had a lovely evening stroll along a footpath from the pub. They were so busy our stroll meant they could squeeze us in a bit later. Should have booked really. Very accomodating excellent friendly service from the Owner and wife. Interested in us although they had so many customers. No gluten free beer and not much choice of alcohol free. The gluten free puddings were wonderful I shared a gluten free crumble with my 11 year old grandson and we both gave it a huge thumbs up. My daughter's also enjoyed the gluten free sweets. Thoroughly recommend and hope to return very soon.

I eat out a lot because of business travel. Honestly this was the best pub food I have had in years. Dog friendly. Weekends are restricted to one dog per booking.

A welcoming retreat after a 14 mile walk across the South Downs. Food was delicious, catering for all 12 of us effortlessly (we did book in advance!) Staff were very friendly and the selection of beers were excellent. Would definitely recommend.

What a gorgeous pub! Staff are so friendly and smile. Service was amazing Food was fresh, lots of it and very tasty. Price was very good. Can't fault any of it. Was Good Friday and thought we would wait hours and staff rushed off feet. No everything was great. Nice to see a good pub Definitely go back

Love this pub. Had the lamb with polenta chips and it was so delicious. The lamb was perfectly cooked. The polenta chips were so tasty. I don't normally have dessert but had to try the lemon tart with raspberry sorbet and so glad I did. It was awesome. Flavoursome without being over sweet. Staff are very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Friendly atmosphere and gorgeous garden.

We arranged a surprise 60th birthday meal for my dad with friends and family, they put us in the little snug to the right of the bar, the staff and food could not of been more perfect nothing was too much trouble and service was fab. All food arrived promptly, piping hot and beautifully presented! Highly recommend this pub placed in beautiful surroundings with incredible food & staff - our new favourite pub!

Love this pub. Beautiful surroundings and great staff. Lovely food and not super expensive for the quality. Harvey's on tap and very tasty. What's not to like? Make sure to take a wander up to Berwick church while you're here too.

Great pub to mark the end of a Sunday stroll. Super extensive menu and nice wines. Salads could do with being perked up a little (bit wilted and missing any crunch) but otherwise decent food and friendly and accommodating service. Walking distance to the train station was also a bonus.

Lovely pud with great food and friendly helpful staff. Good extensive menu, I had the smoked haddock with poached egg on a bed of mashed potatoe which was hot and lovely flavour. I sat in the garden in the sunshine. Will be back.

Excellent service at this lovely pub with a lovely front garden. A long time since I've experienced bar staff invested enough in what they are doing to hold glasses to the light to ensure sparkling before pouring wine, plus friendly obliging service. 10/10 We only had filled ciabattas for a light meal, and they were great. We will return.

A great Harvey's pub the beer eas kept well. We have a great lunch which was fairly priced. The portion sizes were very good. If you want to eat I suggest you book. As I suspect that this pub will be busy in the summer. Check opening times and if the kitchen is open as they are on a winter schedule at the moment
