The best way to experience Forteiland Pampus is with an overnight stay during the summers. This happens on certain weekends only and the stay is in a restored VOC ship. Having the entire island all for yourself throughout the night, bathing in the IJmeer, having breakfast in a basket surrounded by nature is quite an amazing experience.

I had no idea the Dutch had their very own Alcatraz! It was worth the day trip to the island to see the prison cells and old torture chambers. Super creepy. Rumor has it nobody has ever escaped Pampus either!

Roughly 1 hour of sailing after you left IJ, about 8 km. Nice place, closes at 1800h though. Be aware of the rocks at the back of the island! No warning signs!

Amazing place close to Amsterdam. Entrance ticket needed, even if you go by your own boat. It's worth it though. Combined tickets including ferry from port of Muiden available as well. Tours and kids specials are great. As well as the restaurant. Try the Pampus brewed beer!

Nice ferry ⛴ ride to the island. Better to book a ticket I advance. But sometimes they allow you to purchase the tickets on board. This is a small island 🏝.. Good place to spend time for kids.

We had a delightful visit to Pampus. The boat trip over was pleasant, and the amount of time we had on the island was enough to explore at a leisurely pace and still have time for coffee and lunch. The Fort itself is beautifully restored, and its warren of rooms contain interesting and often interactive displays geared for the entire family. A unique experience and highly recommended!

I would recommend a trip to Pampus, but as a foreigner you must be aware of not everything will be able to understand. Only some signs are in English and only few movies are subtitled. The only spoken language in the interactive spots are Dutch. None the less, the trip to the island was beautiful and the staff were very service minded and smiling. We would have liked to stay for lunch, but the café menu sign were in Dutch - so we passed, in stead of having some one to read it for us. 😉😏

Great place to take the family on a weekend. The fort museum was very informative and interactive which was very helpful in entertaining my two kids (6,11). The ferry traveling to and from Muiden was a great addition to the experience as well. Highly recommended!

The boat from Muiden to island is good. It is a war memoril and a bunker with lots of tunnels and nice to visit. You can guess how they were there during the war with such difficulties. There is only 1 restaurant at the island with terrible food. Just 1 toilet for men and 1 toilet for women. Very inconvenient considering the amount of people on a sunny day sipping beers :)

Nice place with great history not known to many. Good to spend a day on a sunny day. Pretty windy.

Very interesting and well-presented details of the defensive "Water Line" to protect Amsterdam. In addition to the typical audio tour, there is a special 360 degree video presentation that is fun. The ferry from Muider (around 100m south of the castle) was nice, and the restaurant has great treats and a beautiful view. Very friendly staff. We had ticket in advance, but it wasn't too busy on a weekday in June.

One of the gems of Amsterdam's defence line -part of Unesco's World Heritage-, which can entertain adults and kids alike. Tickets need to be reserved in advance for the ferry that departs from the city of Muiden. It is in close range of Amsterdam if you have access to a car, thus makes for a great outing on a sunny day.

Was a great place to spend the afternoon learning about the history of the fort and what the fort was used for. There is a restaurant for snacks and drinks which are decently priced. Highly recommend visiting and spending the day. The ferry ride was also a plus! Was super relaxing!

Very cool fort island, with nice interactive (for kids also) museum in the old fort. It was well kept, and to be on the island itself and see all around was also amazing :)

We had an absolutely amazing team outing with work on Forteiland Pampus. The crew was super friendly and making everyone laugh, the games we played were relevant and fun for team building, the food was great, and the sunset was amazing! The views from the island are really nice. The whole organisation of Pampus was well prepared and everything went very smooth. Thanks very much for an amazing afternoon and evening!

Beautiful old fort with great history and a lovely cafe with great snacks and drinks. I loved the virtual balloon ride showing the history of fords and the water defences of the Netherlands. The ferry ride to the ford was a highlight. Beautiful views of Amterdam, Muiden and Almere from the island.

A pleasant ferry ride, a wonderful maze at the island to learn a lot about the Dutch defense systems and history. There is also a lovely restaurant by the shore

Interesting monument. The tour was very informative. Nice bar with plenty of drinks and food. Not really something for an all day excursion, but wonderful when it's sunny weather.

We were lucky with the weather, that is why I have given 4* not 3. The place has a beautiful view to East Amsterdam. Except the building almost everything is a multimedia show only.

Really nice historic place, with an unique atmosphere, easy to lost there for 2-3 hours. The interactive museum (films, games, etc.) makes it even better.

After a nice boat trip of approximately 30 minutes you arrive at the former fort island off the shores of Amsterdam. The island has some interactive games, a museum and the guides are very helpful and know a lot of the island history. The restaurant offers their own special craft beer which I recommend.

Very fun place to go to for a day! It's fun for kids but also without kids. I went with my boyfriend with the boat from IJburg and that was very nice. The museum itself was nice but we were done with that quite fast. The tour we didn't really like. But there was some balloon movie which was very nice. And we had a nice lunch at the restaurant and just walked around. Fun day!

Nicely restored and decorated fort, well worth a look and parking is free if you don't mind the 15 minutes walk. It's not recommended for disabled people.

👍👍 We did a lunch break at this place that looks awesome. You can tell the place that its been there for a while. Great location, which is close by the castle Muiderslot. Coffee / hot cocoa was great. The best club sandwhich I had ever tasted.

👍👍 Beautiful restaurant with history. Carpaccio and Dover Sole were delicious. We started with some drinks and appetizers outside and moved inside for the main course. You won’t find many tourists here, mostly locals enjoying their dinner.

😐 Very nice location and establishment. Good quality food, but they need to work on hospitality.
