This bridge house sits on Ijburg bay, making for a spectacular sunrise and sunset. A number of great restaurants are in walking distance, as is the beach, grocery, and tram. Tram 26 departs about every 10 minutes, and takes 15 to get to central station. Tram tickets can be purchased on the tram or at central station (a point of confusion for us). More bus/tram/train info can be had at gvb.nl. There is not a lot of vehicular traffic; aside from the occasional motorcycle, it is pretty quiet. The oldest buildings in this area seem to date from the 50's or 60's, so far more modern than the tall narrow canal houses of downtown Amsterdam. As in downtown, you do need to keep an eye out for bicycles and avoid their lanes. The majority of restaurants have vegetarian and/or vegan options; nearby, our favorites were Cana's Imam Bayildi and Nap's salad.

A unique and great place to stay. My partner and I stumbled across this bridge house and had the most amazing surprise when we arrived being greeted with an incredible location on a functioning lock.

Excellent care, thoughtful cards and helpful and quick help when I had a minor issue! I will book this more often! The only point: it doesn't happen often in the Netherlands, but it was very hot and the room had no air conditioning!

Truly one of a kind place to stay. Beautiful and functional interior with everything one needs to stay there comfortably for as long as you like. Easy to get to city center 20 minutes away by tram. Plenty of restaurants and amenities around, but being on the edge of the shore - a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle. Was sad to leave and hope to come back again.

Our stay at this place was beyond awesome:) no regrets at all. It was easy access and good restaurants around in just walking distance. 20 min away from crazy Amsterdam Centraal by tram. You will feel at home right after you enter the door. Thank you so much, Sweets hotel!

If each SWEET is a jewel box with a view, this is the crown jewel. A mini-mansion right on the sea, a beach just across the way, with windsurfers bobbing along in front of the wall of glass. The location is on the edge of a man-made island, looking at two more islands under construction - this is the new world... You'll be living in an exquisite modernist structure, purpose built, and then immediately de-commissioned because technology made it redundant. And we're the beneficiaries, because otherwise we'd never get to stay in a place like this ever. I've had the remarkable pleasure of staying in four of the SWEETS, which gives you an incredible affection for the tiny house design considerations that make them livable, but this place feels like a palace - it's almost too big for a single person, though the organic sprawling bed and generous open space certainly take advantage of the design. The SWEETS concept and this interior was meticulously and flawlessly developed by the Amsterdam architecture firm Space&Matter. Don't miss out.
