These guys were very friendly and insightful. There was such a cool vibe during their demonstration and you could tell they were experts at operating the windmill. My kids loved this experience and was well worth the ticket price

Classic Dutch vibes featuring windmills and love of mother nature. But it’s not JUST the windmills. It’s the beautifully preserved nature that’s the biggest charm of this city. You can walk around and spot livestocks chilling and eating their food. You don’t see that many automobiles if any. And just being here basically heals your soul.

Demonstration of the wood work windmill was amazing. They showed how the windmill served the ship building era of Dutch, which paved them to travel the world. Dutch were the sailing pioneers

One of the active windmills which allow visitors. This one is the sawmill. Spent like an hour here watching them load the timber, trimming & then cutting it. All with the use of the windmill. Quite a marvel. Friendly owner & staff who take time to explain the process. There is also a small museum below. Am happy I walked in. There is a small fee of 5 Euros but definitely worth it. A must do when visiting Zaanse Schans. Suitable for both kids & adults.

Exceeded our expectations. Honestly knew nothing about how a saw mill worked until this visit.

Totally worth its price! Interesting and grabbing video "how it's made" can be watched at the entrance. The visiting of real and working mill a must have if you are there. Recommended to buy combined ticket to visit "Cat" mill as well.

The best of Dutch windmills are in Zaandam, perfectly restored and functioning on daily bases as they used hundred years ago. Visit to De Gekroonde Poelenburg in particular is worth the trip from Amsterdam as really miller explains how it works and the history of the Dutch sawmill. The Zaandam village is just as beautiful but I think the towering windmills steals the show.

You can see live how the timber is processed with the windmill. the staff explain the process of processing the timber step by step. You can also read the history in detail on the lower floor. And you can take very beautiful landscape photos from inside

Lovely place and people. The staff working in windmill were very friendly and gave detailed information about the history. Staff at the reception is slightly rude. Easily accessible and value for money. You cannot go to the higher level in this windmill but still it was worth it. Worth visiting.

Such a lovely place to see windmills and for a walk along the canal

The tour was informative and impressive with the sawyers explaining their activities as they worked. There was something fun for everyone, though the mill got a little too loud for a two year old and she had fun watching the chickens outside. I did not find access to the top part of the windmill there so get the multi tour for that.

The windmill structure of the old sawmill is still in operation, and the preservation of Dutch monuments is amazing. It is recommended to purchase a joint ticket to visit multiple windmill workshops at one time.

We had the most amazing visit to this beautiful wind powered saw mill. We also met the most enthusiastic 81year old volunteer (Tom??) who taught us the history of the mills, the Netherlands and keenly showed us the workings of the mill. A big thank you to the “family” that operate and show this mill. A must visit if you are near Amsterdam.
