We went there with my german husband because of a wedding gift. It is not the first time that I go to a sauna in Germany. In my experience you always have a part or the facility that the people is naked, and a part that not. Because I come from a culture that we are ashamed of being naked in front of strangers in public, I wear my swimming suit, and stayed outside of the sauna, and go to the swimming pool. So did is what I did this time. I put my swimmingsuit and went to a Deckchair in the patio. I did not use any of the sauna part. While I was there, a guy from the facility called me and told me in front of everyone that 2 people complained with him about me not being naked. I felt horrible and discriminated to be told that people did not want me there as I was, with my bikini. I replied that I don't feel comfortable without cloth and I will not take it off. I also told him that I was planning to stay only outside, in the patio. He told me that I could take my swimming suit off and cover only with my towel while I was there, or leave. It is ok to explain how it works a place with its own rules to a foreigner. I travelled a lot my whole life and I know that there are cultural differences everywhere. What I really found very rude and insensitive is that I was told in front of everyone that 2 people *complained* about me wearing something. Being obvious that I was not from there, I would have liked to be warned before I enter the place about the rules, or in case that it is needed, that someone just take me apart and explain me the rules in a polite way. I just starting crying because of the rudeness and the horrible feeling of being kicked out from a place, and left as soon as I could. It seemed to me that was not the first time that this happened to them. I got the money back from the tickets, but not from the reservation (so we payed 12 euros around for this horrible experience). I strongly suggest to the company to have it written very clear at the entrance and in the website in English that it is an **obligation**, not an option, to be naked in the whole establishment. I felt super bad afterwards. Today we wanted to have with my husband a day to relax together, and ended up with me driving one hour back and coming at home, feeling completely humiliated. Other additional things to consider about the place: Parking place is not enough for the amount of cars. Some of them were staying outside waiting for some other to leave and park. You have to pay additionally for towels and rope. If you reserve and spot in advance but cannot go, the reservation is not refundable.

It’s hard to put the Monte Mare experience into words… what’s so special? Is it the incredible view? Is the the vibe of the chill local guests? Is the clean and cozy spaces? I think above all it’s the people. I’ve rarely seen a sauna with incredible staff putting their love into the reception, restaurant and most importantly the sauna rituals. The amount of energy and good vibes Chris is dispensing with his latest Australian ceremony is mind boggling. I deeply appreciate the work and passion every single SaunameisterIn at Tegernsee is putting into their craft. Thank you all - you are creating a truly special place on this planet.

Great sauna to visit in the lovely wee town of Tegernsee, especially on a cold March day. Booked a massage a few days in advance to ensure that I would get in and found the overall experience (as a Scot) to be quite enlightening. Good range of saunas, steam room, a jacuzzi and outdoor pool to make use of. Fairly reasonably priced too. Would definitely visit again.

Really great atmosphere. Nothing fancy, but very fine (edel). Clean, well organized, all saunas have a place for you to set your eye glasses before you go in, and the ship sauna (listening to the slap of the water on the hull while watching the ducks swim around and a back drop of snowy mountains) was cool. The atmosphere was relaxed and everyone was respectful of the space of others and noise volume. Food in the restaurant was excellent and they also have alternative milks! Just be ready to be comfortable in your body, as there's a no suit rule, as in most saunas in Germany and Austria. My massage was also amazing, Yvonne was excellent.

Although the covid-19 has made everything different now but still this is great place to go out for a nice trekking experience. You can enjoy walking along the lake and having coffee and other snacks. Really close to Munich which makes it even more easily accessible for a lot of people.

Very nice place, with a good variety of sauna's and very friendly staff. The highlight has to be the sauna on a boat, and the ability to jump in the lake quickly after coming out.

A charming and beautiful place!! I have used to go there once a month since 3 years mostly during the week ,because I think ,at weekends will be packed. Just I love the view, the Aufguss ,the staff! The food at the restaurant is okay...Vegan options doesn't have (maybe one or two), salads are basic. The have some bowls but nothing special.

I am part of the Munich Tech Sauna community (techsauna.dev) and we have visited the Monte Mare Seesauna in Tegernsee a few times in summer already. You can easily reach it without car from Donnersberger Bruecke in Munich to final stop Tegernsee in about an hour plus a short 5-10 min walk. This sauna heaven is located in the nicest area of Bavaria and right at the lake Tegernsee - after a hot sauna infusion you can step outside into the cold lake. In summer, you will want to swim a bit around and grasp the sheer beauty of the mountains that surround the lake. When it comes to sauna infusions - I still remember an amazing Wenik Aufguss with leaves, music and great chats and laughter in the sauna. 2 rounds, lake, and another two rounds - really amazing. There is also a Panorama Sauna (lake / mountain view), steam bath and several smaller / not so hot saunas. Whirlpool, full restaurant/bar, etc. Perfect combination: go for a cycling tour around the Valepp (Tegernsee, Valepp, Spitzingsee, Schliersee and back to Gmund and then Tegernsee) and round it up with a few hours in the sauna before you head back to Munich.

Such a wonderful sauna in Bavaria. The facilities are extremely clean and well maintained. The boat sauna and having direct access to the lake are great perks of visiting this particular location. The Aufguss sessions are among the best I’ve ever attended. I like how much music was incorporated into the ceremony. The restaurant has great options for vegans and vegetarians.

Authentic German sauna experience with mixed gender and weird sauna rituals (from finnish perspective)
