Ok. I took a long trip out here this week because me and my wife wanted to visit an art museum that we hadn't discovered yet. The website says this: "The collection contains more than 5,200 works of art and cultural artifacts, dating from 1500 BCE to the 21st century, representing six continents, plus 70 sculptures that can be found displayed across Hofstra’s campus." This is absolutely not true. The art museum is one small room, with very few pieces of art, currently showing some modern political stuff that was not particularly interesting. The very nice girl there told us that the 5,200 pieces were in storage. So please, if you're considering going here to see all that art from 1500 BCE to the 21st century representing six continents...it's not there. Also, there were not 70 sculptures around the campus, but like...6. What is with the false advertising here?

Not so easy to see right off of Hempstead Turnpike servicing Uniondale and the adjoining areas of Nassau County. Plenty of parking and a wheelchair accessible entrance. Moderately clean facilities. Public Restrooms. Located on the grounds of Hofstra university.

Sorry, but no! We had a long trip to see this museum, because... >>> The collection contains more than 5,200 works of art and cultural artifacts, dating from 1500 BCE to the 21st century, representing six continents, plus 70 sculptures that can be found displayed across Hofstra’s campus. (Quote from museum website) Don't believe in this! There is only two small rooms and one of it was closed. Permanent collection is not on view and permanently closed to public. And there is no information about this sad fact on their website.

Why would someone call a room of photographs a museum? We were done in 5 minutes. Not worth the time.

The Hofstra University Museum is open to the public during the school semester. It is free to the public. The current exhibition is entitled Changing Perceptions: World War 1 and the Visual Arts. It will be closing on 12/14/18. The museum will reopen in the spring semester with a continuing exhibit on World war II and the visual arts. It was a well thought out exhibit. Can't wait till the spring exhibit.

Truly a hidden gem. They always have some very unexpectedly well known names in their exhibits like Picasso and Warhol.
