Visited Rock City for the first time to see Glass Animals perform. I found it to be a really cool venue which was nicely laid out and included a balcony for a wider view. There was several bars to buy drinks from and easily accessible restrooms. Couldn't find any fault with the sound system and enjoyed how intimate the venue felt. It did feel a little bit packed at times but I speculate this was more to do with who was performing than oversold tickets.

Easy to get, the staff are good you get some good views and prices at the bar are not bad. However few issue are that sound always sounds bit off. The biggest issue is they allow smoking right at the door and then there is a draft into the venue. So if you're at the back near the doors you get 2 d hand smoke.

Loved it! Different music rooms, not too expensive & such a good atmosphere. The main room has Ibiza club vibes. If you don't like super busy this place isn't for you!

Fabulous venue. Went to see Teddy Swims and boy we were not disappointed. He is just mind blowing and what a fan pleaser. Makes the effort over and above to engage with fans. Lighting, sound, and staff were all great. Would recommend this venue and most certainly recommend seeing teddy 🧸 swims before he blows up big and super famous

Rock City what more do you need to say apart from a must go place for lovers of live music. Great night out. Only downside is the infamous Rock City toilets, peg on nose and off you go.

A good venue for rock music. It's not the cleanest of places. Expect plastic glasses and a sticky floor. There are lots of steps and there is limited seating which is a must for people with mobility impairment. It can be very busy and difficult to see if you are short like me. There is a cloak room just at the entrance. Its central and easy to find but be prepared to queue to get in. The sound is good.

First time going and the experience was absolutely incredible! The choice of either being in the middle of everything on the main floor or up on the balcony really helps to let everyone experience it as they prefer. Queuing outside beforehand got a little cold but it was worth the wait!

I brought tickets to Freya Ridings on 2023/10/08. The best experience I've had in the UK. This was my first time attending an event like this in my entire life, and the staff at Rock City made it as memorable as possible. The only hiccup was that I didn't know I couldn't bring anything from outside, like bottle of water. And also make a reminder. Don't bring anything. You can keep your bags or jackets in the cloak room and you got few bars. I'm not white, and there is no discrimination for coloured people. It's up to you. Try to blend in. They will welcome you!

Great venue. Everyone really nice as in my wheelchair. First time seen The Beat, they were amazing. The lead singer sounds as good today as he did when they started.

As good a night as I've ever had at Rock City watching the growth of Mongolian rock legends The Hu. Rock City never disappoints - the intimacy of the venue means nobody leaves without a sweat on, as long as the band performs, generally so does the crowd! The only issue tonight was a lack of bar staff on the ground floor bar (to the right of balcony access steps) which meant still being in the queue when to the stage came The Hu (poetry!)! Other than that, there's never enough facilities to serve everyone at once but they do a fantastic job. If you've never been to Rock City then try it - it has a reasonable balcony so from most areas the stage is close. I love it & will be back. However, much like London's tube, towards the front is tightly packed & you can only hope everyone has a similar BO bash routine as you..... unfortunately that's not always the case!

Saw Clutch, one of the best live bands around. Great venue, sound was good. Rescue rooms next door good for drinks before gig.

It was our first time at Rock City and we weren't disappointed. It's a lovely little venue and the staff knew exactly what they were doing and who was meant to be where, etc. With my daughter having a disability we thought we'd be shoved at the back, but we were escorted up to the balcony and the view from there, was just awesome! This was a birthday treat for us both and we were well happy with the service we had. Well done team Rock City. 👏 I do have one criticism though. 🤭 The sound sometimes drowned out Chris' voice. I think his microphone should have been turned up, or the sound down. But still... Daughtry were absolutely amazing! 🫶 They well and truly rocked! 🤘

The venue was amazing I saw Smash into pieces. We travelled to Nottingham from Walsall. We didn't wait long to go in and was right by the barrier. They sold beer and the price was great. I'm looking forward to going again soon.

Went to see INK live, and as perhaps a gig novice (been to o2 academy in Islington / Birmingham, MK stadium) I have to say it’s been my favourite venue so far. There’s enough space for everyone, cool raised bit at the back, balcony area, and they even had their own beers on draft and cans! (albeit gig prices) really felt like I could see the bands and have breathing space too rock out :) 5* I will return / my new favourite place.

Iconic love music venue. Havi g attended many shows here it is one of the best atmospheres for a gig you'll find anywhere. Though the bouncers can be harsh and don't take kindly to crowdsurfing and have even had fights with bands on stage so that is a major downside. But as long as the bouncers aren't being too over the top it's a great place to see a band.

Great atmosphere, great music and a massive crowd too. It did get super busy and one of my friends was pushed to the ground only because of the sheer amount of people on the dance floor - so definitely something to watch out for but other than that was a great experience

Great venue for music, we managed to double book and see Poets of the Fall in the main venue, and The Hara in the smaller room next door. I popped between both happily. 2 pint cocktails for £8 were great too!

  • 5/5 Richard F. 5 months ago on Google
The pure nostalgia of returning to rock City coupled with the band being outstanding definitely helps with the score. Saying that though, queues were fine, beer prices not terrible (still a lot more than when I was in my youth) and I dare say I didn't stick to the floor once.

Turned up for Skindred. Sent in early to avoid the crowds as we had disabled access-ambulant disabled. Situated on the balcony well. Security brought raised, quality and supportive seating. Real comfy. Seen some saying about bar prices- a soft drink and a lager £7.50 which is what I paid in a rock bar previous to gig, so it's not overpriced. Booking tickets is always super simple. We were ushered out of the back entrance at the end of the show to avoid standing in the rush so my advice is buy merch before bands start playing. It's just the right size for a concert- everyone can see the stage. It's very clean and maintained well. Would recommend again

My first time here at this venue. We came to watch the Wonderstuff. We were not disappointed. Great atmosphere and excellent facilities. Nottingham has an array of pubs to cater for all tastes. Rock City is an excellent venue. We will be back!

  • 4/5 Vicky H. 1 year ago on Google
Great Rock venue, great band. Terrible atmosphere but that was due to the idiot in front of me pushing back, flicking his hair in my face and treading on my feet. I swapped places with my husband and the guy obviously didn’t realise this as when he did it to my husband and was nudged back he turned around to say something and was face to face with a 6’1” guy and not a 5’4” female he complained to the Security Guard that his space was being invaded!! Very, very hot in there and even though water was being passed around by the staff I wasn’t able to get any, so unfortunately we had to leave before the end. I limped back to the car and my feet are black and blue this morning. Good job I’m seated at my next gig x

I love this venue, had some fantastic nights here. And Freya Ridings on Sunday night was no exception. Great crowd. Efficient bar staff, drinks reasonable prices. Just a good place attracting great bands. Close to the city centre. I parked in the Victoria centre car park. Currently only £5 for the nights parking. 10 min stroll.

Packed to the rafters with people means a great atmosphere, but also hot and sticky. Band was great however.

Saw Magnum on their 50th Anniversary tour here... first saw them here in 1983! Great to see one of the countries most iconic live venues still going strong.

  • 2/5 Bunjiman 1 year ago on Google
Well lots of other people appeared to be having fun including my kids, but sticky floors, stinking urinals and a crowd so tightly packed that you can't move just aren't my scene anymore. I wouldn't ever, ever go here by choice but that's just me and I'm probably not the target audience anyway! Music was very good though.

Went to watch Orbital perform here with support from Manami. We got there early and managed to get a prime position on the balcony to watch the show. Enjoyed both acts and it was generally a good atmosphere. My ears are still buzzing from the bass a day later. We did get a small amount of hassle from some girls who rocked up later and thought we should give up our spots for them. Why out of the hundreds of people also positioned along the balcony, that they decided it was us who should move for them, I do not know. Self-entitled I suppose. The venue was great, well organised and the staff I had interactions with (bag checks, tickets, cloakroom and bar) all seemed professional and friendly.

Simply put! Cracking venue, but drinks price and quality is abysmal. STRONGLY Recommend go here for a gig, but recommend you go elsewhere first for drinks.

A breath of fresh air. If you want to have fun, go here. Friendly staff (where normally such venues have a few stereotypicals !) Just the right size venue with different rooms for different vibes

  • 5/5 Chris M. 6 years ago on Google
A proper old school rock venue in the centre of Nottingham. Drinks are standard price for a place like this. Very nicely set out venue with a decent sized stage, plenty of bars and a balcony with seating. Talbot street would probably be your best place to park. Popular acts do book up very fast here. Last thing to note is that there are tramlines very near by so be careful when leaving especially if you have had a few drinks.

Been coming to Rock City for 30 years, it's seen changes but on the whole remains true to the spirit of Rock. Sure there are more non rock events taking place there now but with a massive student population to tap into, they wouldn't survive without branching out. Great venue to see live bands and still attract the cream of alternative bands. Well done and keep it up. Happy 40th Rock City.

  • 4/5 wyattap 4 years ago on Google
Excellent music venue. Felt a little amateur with an international band playing.... but the sound produced was world class. Would have liked better management with the entrance and Merch opportunities as there was not enough time from the doors opening and had to queue for AGES after. That aside. Amazing!

The whole atmosphere of the place feels very professional and focused on the purpose of this venue. Rock City is one of my favourite venues. Well organised event, smooth entry and exit. Would like to tell the world how great these people are. The venue was just the right size.

Time the name of the place was changed...75% of the bands playing there are NOT Rock Bands...mainly EMO/AOR/TEEN lite garbage for the under 18`s/students.......no more dedicated Rock/Metal nights so no other reason to go unless its for a gig....
