I simply cannot believe how bad this was. I am not one to complain or even write reviews but I feel it is my duty to let the world know how terrible this place is. We arrived at 8.30 for dinner and after 30 minutes we were finally given tap water and a glass of our unlimited Prosecco that we had to ask for. From then, we knew the service was going to be slow but we didn’t know how slow. We could see many tables around us asking for the waitresses attention but they would purposely turn their backs or not make eye contact. I genuinely couldn’t believe how inattentive and unbothered they were. We finally got to order our food and the waitress wasn’t even listening and literally left while I was talking mid sentence lol. She then came back after a minute and wrote down our order. Me and my partner looked at each other in confusion. 15 minutes went by and the waitress came BACK to ask what we ordered for our main? I’m not sure if she even wrote anything down, by then, I thought Ashton Kutcher would come out and announce we were being PUNK’d. It’s now 10.15 and our Main has arrived. We ordered 2 sirloins each - medium, broccoli, potatoes, garlic aioli and red wine sauce. The potatoes or red wine sauce did not arrive and the steaks and broccoli were freezing. The food must have been sitting there for an hour and the garlic aioli was brown? It smelt like marmite and it was rock solid. We sent back the food to be reheated and let them know we were still waiting for the potatoes and red wine sauce. After 10 minutes the steaks and broccoli came back and guess what… no potatoes or red wine sauce still. We reminded them politely again as I was not eating a steak without sauce. The steaks were also RARE, look at the picture! The table next to us were laughing hysterically and we started having a conversation. They also were having a horrible experience and it was laughable. We started to look around the room and every single table was sharing our experience which is the only positive I can take. It wasn’t personal. It’s 10.50PM now and my food is cold AGAIN because I was waiting for the rest of the mains to come. I called the manager over and let him know that he can cancel the desserts and everything else as our appetite was completely gone. He didn’t even mention the bill because he just knew. It genuinely felt like we were in a movie, I have never experienced anything like it, every single table in that room had their bill reduced or dismissed. You must be a massive risk taker or unhinged to visit this restaurant after reading my review. Avoid at all costs please !

Hugely disappointed with the whole experience! In a bit of disbelief! This was a £55 pp worth menu ! I booked afternoon tea to celebrate my hubby’s new job. Firstly we were led to an annex room not the main rasturant! Wasn’t nice environment at all -The service was so late,30min into 90min experience all we had was the bubbly and water. - the menu did not reflect all items - I asked for no pork and one of the items had pork! - the waitress had no idea what the items were and couldn’t even say their names - the tray arrived and looked awful to say the least! - sandwiches looked unfresh, so basic not even a leaf in them , mostly tasted bad(some chutney Inc. which didn’t work!) - sandwiches we’re tiny and didn’t get top up when we requested - dessert item was not on menu and waitress couldn’t explain what it was! And the perfetta rolls were dry not injected with cream! When we sent feedback we had no apology or replacement offered saying they ran out of the other ones! The cube cake! Was so dry and in decorated just like something you’d get from Poundland shop! Basically walked out hungry and disappointed!

Decent food and excellent service. This restaurant is located on the second floor insode the Cavendish hotel, on 81 Jermyn Street @ Saint James'. The Petrichor serves breakfast, lunch, aftetnoon tea and dinner. It also features a pre-theatre and à la carte menu, which is served daily from 5:30pm until 9:30pm. Outside the restaurant, you can find a bar and lounge by the same name.

I came with a large group of friends, ten of us in total for a Sunday lunch (bottomless lunch). Really impressed with the food and the quality of service. In total we spent around 3 hours here, and we didn't feel rushed but also didn't feel like service was slow in any way. We were attended to when needed without asking, and was well supplied with prosecco. The food was excellent and very filling. The soup was particularly good. As myself and only one other person in our group ordered this I feel like others missed out. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Amazing afternoon tea experience. Food was so selected carefully to pair with procesco. We were served by Amanda and Rosen which were so friendly and helpful. We will def come back

Me and my sister went here for a 3 course meal last night and bottomless prosecco for 90 minutes, we had such a lovely experience. The glasses were always topped up, I had the fillet steak which was so nice. The waitress Armandeep was exceptional, very friendly and her customer service was brilliant. Thank you!

Went for a wonderful dinner at the Mayfair. The headwaiter, Damien, was wonderful and made sure to make us feel right at home. He was quite attentive and made sure all of the guests were having a wonderful experience. Further, our waitress Gerda offered tremendous service and made of it a magnificent experience. Highly recommended stop if you are in London. Food was amazing, we both had the sand sole and truffle chips. My friends birthday and Damien arranged a birthday cake to our table, was very special.

Food was utterly horrendous. Eggs on absolutely everything. Everything else undercooked and Luke warm. Restaurant empty with no music and barely any staff to be seen. Bottomless Prosecco was the only thing that got us through (when they fancied refilling it) Could have walked out with no one noticing 😂

Came to use up a voucher for the bottomless prosecco & lunch. Food was very nice, didn't mind the small supplementary charges. Our server Janete was absolutely lovely and super-efficient, a credit to your organisation! Only downside was that we heard the chef rudely shouting at someone 'we're out of risotto, I told you before'. Teach the chef some damned manners and respect, for goodness sake!

We went for the three course set menu with unlimited prosecco via buyagift! We started off with a gorgeous terrine, and artichoke soup with a single dumpling inside, which were both rather tasty. We had the butternut squash risotto and the turkey Xmas dinner for mains - both ok but nothing out of this world. The cheese and crackers after dinner were really tasty. The crackers had a great crisp and the cheese was lovely. The dessert was also lovely and it was a chocolate mousse paired with raspberry sorbet. So, as mentioned earlier, the prosecco didn't stop flowing.. our server was absolutely lovely and took care of us well during the evening. However, on the down side of things - there were a couple of large groups who were super loud in the restaurant due to the endless prosecco, and the decor was pretty dated. But, at that price, we didn't expect grandness. The staff did however recognise this was a bit of a nuisance and offered us other drinks for free which was kind.

Absolutely AWFUL restaurant!!!! Avoid We went there for dinner on Valentines day expecting a top notch service. The photos looked nice but... It ended up being the worst restaurant experience we've ever had. We arrived and they had no record of our booking, then ordered food when the restaurant was completely empty. There were 2 sections of the restaurant, the front area looked as if it was reserved for the Hotel "VIP" guests where as the standard Valentines bookings were in the other section. Over 2 hours later we were still waiting for food, no attention at all from any of the waiters. All of the diners in our "non hotel guest section" then watched on as all of the hotel guests who arrived over an hour after us got 5 star treatment right in front of us, the waiters were very attentive towards them because they were paying more. They were on desert by the time our starters arrived. A number of tables in our section complained about this disgraceful behaviour and on VALENTINES day of all days. The way that the restaurant was operated was like a carry on movie, totally understaffed and disorganised and taking blatant preference to the higher paying guests right in front of the rest of us was just very poor. When the starters eventually came they weren't what we ordered and the waiter shrugged his shoulders and said what do you want me to do. We ate them anyway and they were cold by the time they arrived, we didn't stay for mains and had to take it up with the company we'd booked through. Ruined our Valentines as well as the others who also experienced the same that evening. Please avoid this restaurant unless you was to be treated disgracefully and with complete disregard.

Not a good experience unfortunately- very mediocre at best. Went for an afternoon tea. Sandwiches were bland and thinly filled. No other savouries. Plain scones were not great - small and quite hard. Fruit ones were slightly better. Butter though was mouldy and we had to send the scone back that we hard started to butter when we discovered the mould. The replacement scone was much more fresh than the previous ones. The service was very poor - very little attention - forgot one of the teas, then couldn’t get attention to raise the issue of the mouldy butter. Then the staff really couldn’t care less that they had served mouldy food as if it was a regular occurrence! Couldn’t even get to speak to a manager to raise the issue with them. Not anywhere near the quality of other afternoon teas we have had in London. The Amphersand is far superior for example. Would not return to the Cavendish and puts me off staying there with their disregard of food hygiene.

Took my mum here for afternoon tea with bottomless Prosecco. We both loved it and had a great time :) the staff were very helpful and couldn’t have done more for us. My mum is a coeliac so we requested a gluten free afternoon tea; the food was lovely and the presentation was very nice. I would definitely recommend and I will be returning soon!!

I honestly have to say this was the worst tea for two I've had,.and I've had many. Bought a virgin experience tea for 2 with bottomless presecco. Bearing in mind prosecco costs a tenner a bottle, that was the best bit. The restaurant was tired and dated , throw back to the 70's. The sandwiches were served on sliced supermarket bread, not what I expected. Cakes were awful. They were not delicate delights, they were overly rich and horribly sickly. The staff were amazing and I couldn't fault them but I would not waste £80 on this experience if you actually enjoy food rather than Just the experience.

Lovely lunch, 3 courses and free flowing prosecco.. delicious food, beautifully presented. Service on the whole was good but the food came out quite slowly. A great experience, just don't expect speed (sometimes a leisurely lunch is just what you want). We'll definitely be back!

Good food nicely presented but the service is ridiculously slow. It took over two hours to have our dinner despite the fact that we were asked to choose our desert at the same time as we ordered our starters and mains, and we were one of only four tables

Lovely place, service very good. Staff friendly. Food was amazing, however considering we were the only people in the restaurant the meal service was very slow, 45 mins for a starter. Would return as I said food great staff amazing.

Me and my partner visited here and had an amazing time. All the staff was amazing. The place was absolutely spotless and the food was very tasty. Only downside was that was a little bit slow at pouring the Prosecco, but whenever we asked for more than more than happy to Poor.

Exquisite experience. Nazrin was an exceptional host: prosecco was always full, food delivered at perfect moments, and friendly welcoming service. Anyone considering visiting should! It was a magical evening with wonderful views. Will be returning at the soonest opportunity.

Afternoon tea: delicious and at a great price. The sandwiches were fresh, and the scones were warm and crumbly. Pastries/cakes were also wonderful esp. the red velvet. 65 pounds for two and includes endless prosseco - just fantastic!

It was my third Cavendish visit and the tea is getting a little worse each time. Let's talk about this one getting 3 stars though. Very disorganised - arrived to an empty restaurant and no one in sight. Yelled into kitchen and ran down to front desk before someone showed up, despite our reservation. Once they noticed us, service was prompt but cool. I like to feel pampered at afternoon tea. The actual tea was brought too early and was cold by the time food arrived. Sandwiches were lovely though and appreciated the grilled sandwich and the battered hake, something different. There was one small fruit scone, although mine had barely any fruit in it, and it was overbaked and tough. The little cakes were nice with one standout - the fudgiest brownie ever. They shouldn't bother with the cream filled chocolate shell though - waste of time! So despite points for the savoury selection and brownie, and the novel sewing box presentation for sweets, it has to be three stars. Good price though, at less than £30.

Really pleasantly surprised with Petrichor as I hadn’t heard anything about this place. We had a great dinner for a more than reasonable price. Excellent value for money! We all enjoyed our 3-course meal in pleasant surroundings. The staff was incredibly polite and friendly, our waitress Ludmila couldn’t have been any nicer. I didn’t get the name of her other colleague, sorry, but she was lovely too.

We visited Mayfair Grill Lounge @ Cavendish Hotel last Monday. I had a gift package for 3 course dinner and flowing prosecco. Front house manager and our waitress for the evening Aswathy went the extra mile to make us feel special, absolutely excellent service! As per food, chef excelled our expectations it was totally delicious from the starter to the dessert accompanied by very nice prosecco. Stylish décor and lovely (not live on Monday evening) piano music made that evening for us very pleasant. Thank you and hopefully we will be back soon!

Went here for my 42 birthday. Honestly, the food was fantastic but the service made it a wonderful dinner. Damian, our waiter was very attentive, friendly and truly exceptional. What a great guy and an asset to this restaurant. The chips were banging by the way :-)

Had a great evening at the Mayfair Lounge and Grill on an unlimited prosecco package. The staff were amazing and very attentive, the prosecco was always available without asking. The food was fantastic such high quality. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Great experience.

This was my second Virgin Afternoon Tea experience for three people. I was told by them that they would accept one voucher for two people, and that I could pay full price for the third afternoon tea, of £45. On both occasions, they have only bought out only enough for two. This time, despite me telling them on arrival to ensure they are bringing enough for three, they still only catered for two. To make matters worse , today my bill included an extra £8.13 for "Virgin Exp Service Charge" AND service charge on TOP of that. So instead of paying £45 for my share, I ended up paying £59.77. I was there for a 60th birthday surprise, so didn't want to make a fuss as that would upset my friend, but am disgusted with this place. I won't be going back there again.

Came here 5months ago and weren't impressed with the menu. Since it's changed, it's vibey, chic, hidden gem. Nice views and lovely staff and drinks and menu. Duck, steak and crab seafood on the menu. We're not disappointed with either food or drink, recommended!!

Had a lovely bottemless prosecco afternoon tea, the waitresses were so accommodating and kept filling our glasses. The stand of sandwiches and cakes were ample enough for two people.. Will definitely visit again. Many thanks

Visited tonight for a 3 course meal for 2 with prosecco. Quite as it was a Monday night. The service was excellent - Gerda very friendly and attentive as was Kuba - you did a great job for your first day. The food was excellent too - nothing I would change about our evening. And a lovely touch was a little Happy Anniversary chocolate on our yummy desserts - thankyou Gerda for that. Certainly would go back again when visiting London.🙂

Afternoon tea on a voucher. Very average. Waited 40 mins for food and when it arrived it was poor and unimaginative for a London hotel afternoon tea. Trusting the food quality and selection prepared for full price afternoon teas is superior to what was served up for us as it was much lacking and service barely adequate. Must be because we were on a voucher ! No staff around on leaving to discuss the ‘non’ birthday experience.

It's great to be able to have the Mayfair back in our neighborhood. I grew up here. Great great memories!!! It's brings back a lot of memories. The Mayfair grill during happy hour what time do the food was empty. The sweet hostess Isabella was great at customer service. She cares about where she works, that's beautiful! Daniel the bartender was very hungry & ready to preapare & serve delicious drinks. You must come by!

We had the bottomless prosecco 3 course lunch. The service was great, our glasses was always topped up. The set menu was a little bit limited in choice, anything that sounded interesting was an extra cost and everything on the grill was an extra cost!! Seems a bit of a marketing stunt to lure you in and then charge more. The food we did order were all very well presented and tasty!

  • 5/5 Ian P. 1 year ago on Google
Food great staff brilliant and Prosecco absolutely bottomless. There was a wait between courses which was no problem to us. You could drink more, to the point I could not drink any more. Absolutely fantastic Will be going back.

Very impressed with our 3 course Sunday lunch today. The manager accommodated my dietary requirement with a different starter, the roast sirloin was really good, the cauliflower cheese was one of the best I’ve had & the apple & pear crumble was divine. Yes service was at a leisurely pace but with the piano playing for the guests it was a relaxed setting to enjoy our lunch in. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff so I’d thoroughly recommend.
