I loved this restaurant experience! I had never had Ethiopian food before. I now know that I'd love to have MORE Ethiopian food. It's just so darn good! When we got there we asked the server for a recommendation, which was a good idea, because they gave us this awesome platter of various meats and veggies and things, and a a plate of sour, spongy bread to pick up the food with, and it was SO GOOD!!!!

Give them a chance. Food was really good. I had the chance to go to Ethiopia and this food tastes the exact same as the motherland. Owner was very nice and the place was super clean. It took about 45mns to get our food. However, the food is made from scratch and this is a new restaurant and a bit under staffed (the owner was our waiter). Yes it took time..but i dont mind waiting to get fresh tasting meals. Im definitely going to go there again :-)

Out of the few Ethiopian places in the area, I decided to try this quaint place and was not disappointed. Super accommodating for vegans and amazingly delicious food. The owner was perfectly congenial and friendly. Great experience overall. If I lived in town this would be a regular spot for me.

We visited this restaurant on the way to the airport in December and were pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. The restaurant was very clean, the service was extremely good and the food was truly amazing. We ordered a platter that included a variety of delicious items served with the most incredible Injera bread. We really enjoyed the authentic Ethiopian cuisine that was so fresh and deliciously spiced. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Absolutely LOVE this restaurant! I eat here all the time and have never been dissapointed! I've tried all of the Ethiopian Restaurants in the city and Mercator is the best in both flavour and price! I would definitely encourage people to try new things and give this place a shot! Nothing scary here except for amazing food! Her hours are 2pm - about 7pm everyday.

Excellent as always.. I highly recommend trying one of their combo platters.So delicious and filling ....You get a good variety of different dishes on each platter.

We've been to a lot of Ethiopian restaurants and the food is quite good. Everything had its own flavour which was great. The owner is very friendly and eager to please. You can't beat the price...very reasonable. Lamb was quite tough but very flavorful. They were out of chicken and kitfo. These led to only a four star rating.

Haven’t been for years. A charming restaurant with a lovely staff. Had beef sambosa, spicy tea (sort of like a mulled spice drink, very nice!) and the Merkato platter. Very flavourful, just a bit spicy, and a great variety of types. Come hungry!

The bar owner is one of the most hospitable and charismatic people that I have ever met. He made me feel incredibly welcome The first time I walked in the doors and every time since going to this restaurant is like dining with family and you never feel left out. Food is amazing and the drinks flow well.

We haven't been here for quite some time (pandemic, etc.) but used to go all the time. Decided to head over there again, and it did not disappoint. Food is delicious and portions good. Some of the best Ethiopian we've had in Winnipeg. Highly recommend! Prices have gone up a bit, but they've gone up everywhere and seem about where they should be for the quality of food. Had yebeg tibs as well as the vegetarian combo, and flavour was excellent throughout.

My partner and I love it here! Food is delicious, service is great, and the atmosphere is really friendly and laid back. Definitely a favourite spot of ours.

An absolute disgrace to us today. We ordered our food at 3:57 and told the man on the phone that we had to be at the airport. After triple confirming the time of the order with him, and having him fully agree, we arrived and the food was not ready and he told us to wait. Now I’ll have no dinner before I go to the airport and fly to Vancouver. Terrible experience. Bad business. Unapologetic. Sad.

Ordered through door dash on a Sunday and both Google and your website says you're open. I went to the restaurant and there was no open or close sign, doors were just locked. No one answering the phones. If you're closed on Sundays update your opening times!! Waste of time.

Ate the combo platter. Food was pretty good, it's supposed to serve 2 but was too much for the two of us. Since you eat with your hands it would have been nice to get a wet wipe. Music wasn't very enjoyable.

I was surprised how good this little place was after I found it! It was a random encounter for me but has stuck in my mind since. The food was delicious and the price was great. The staff is friendly and the location was very clean. Highly recommend

Great place to catch up with friends (small and intimate dining room.) Delicious homemade food, that always fills me up. Feels good to support local businesses that are putting in the hard work. I can usually find street parking.

Meh, not as good as kokeb. Instead of quality rice you get instant rice and the whole dish seems like a shortcut. It would be amazing if i’ve never been to a better Ethiopian resturant, so my expectations are high. But they do have better service than kokeb, overall good restaurant.
