Bonfire Bistro This cozy little Bistro has limited parking. We parked on a nearby street. We waited outside to be seated. With the signs in the window we weren't sure we had been seen. Not to worry we were seated quickly by our friendly server. We had a large choice in seats in the two main rooms. We chose a bigger table near the window. We quickly got our menus and our choice of beverages. We chose the chicken with fig sauce and the beet salad with goats cheese and candied walnuts. The chicken was delicious, tender and juicy. It was served on sliced potatoes along side of carrots, broccoli, asparagus and cauliflower. The potatoes were so flavourful and cooked to perfection, the fig sauce mixing in from the chicken. The vegetables also tasted fresh and not over done. The beet salad was tasty original. The beets were sweet buttery and tender. The goat's cheese paired wonderfully with the beets. The arugula was young and tender and not bitter, the candled walnuts being crunchy and sweet added texture and completed the salad. Our food was brought out promptly. The service here was excellent, the food was great, the restaurant was clean. It's a great date night spot.

I've been here a number of times over the years and it's always been a great experience. I love the pizzas and pasta dishes. And the carrot cake, urgh... so good. Worth the calories for sure! Often busy and it seems like there are a lot of local residents in River Heights who frequent this place.

Bonfire bistro has amazing pizza and pasta. I highly recommend. We needed a reservation on a Monday to get in! I am glad we did because the atmosphere is lovely. All in all I give this place a full star review and will recommend to everyone I meet. Only down side is the tables are a bit small. But we managed three people at a table so it worked out.

Bonefire Bistro in Winnipeg isn't just a dining establishment; it's a memorable gastronomic experience. From the moment you step in, there's an undeniable sense of warmth and commitment to culinary excellence. Starting with the house-made Caesar salad, it's evident that the chef possesses an adeptness at combining ingredients. This salad is more than just a mix of lettuce and dressing; it's a symphony of flavors. The robust presence of garlic, the savory bite of bacon, the rich undertones of parmesan, and the refreshing zing of lemon all come together in a dance of taste that is both classic and innovative. The freshly made flatbread is a testament to what happens when simple ingredients are treated with respect and skill. Crisp, yet soft, it serves as the perfect vessel for the house-made warm spinach artichoke dip. This dip is rich and creamy, with the spinach and artichokes melding seamlessly. However, it was the braised beef short rib gnocchi that truly stole the show. Each bite is a journey - tender beef, soft gnocchi, and a sauce that wraps around every morsel with a flavorful embrace. It's a dish that makes you pause, savor, and appreciate the mastery behind it. The chicken breast with sambuca fig sauce is an unexpected delight. The sweetness of the figs, paired with the slightly anise-like kick of sambuca, elevates the juicy chicken to new heights. The roasted vegetables, fresh and crunchy, gain an added depth from the tang of goat cheese. Dessert is often an afterthought at many restaurants, but not here. The house-made carrot cake, dense yet moist, is enhanced by a rich cream cheese icing that is perfectly sweetened. The caramel sauce drizzled atop brings a luscious finish to the dessert. And those butter tarts? They encapsulate everything a butter tart should be - flaky, buttery, and decadently sweet. Beyond the food, what sets Bonefire Bistro apart is its ambiance and staff. The wood-fired oven casts a gentle glow, creating an environment of warmth and intimacy. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, ensuring you feel both cared for and at ease. Furthermore, the cleanliness of the establishment, especially the restrooms, speaks to the attention to detail and pride they take in their establishment. In a city like Winnipeg, with its burgeoning food scene, Bonefire Bistro emerges as a shining beacon of what happens when passion meets skill. Their focus on using fresh and high-quality ingredients is evident in every bite. It's a place where food isn't just eaten; it's celebrated. Easily one of the most delightful dining experiences in the city.

We had a family dinner, my 4 y.o. son went home telling us “that is the best pizza” :) the food is really delicious and the presentation is great. Desserts are well done and very tasty. (Photos included) the place looks very clean and quite. Staff are also friendly and very helpful.

We had a lovely meal this evening at this restaurant. It wasn't the first time we had dined there. We ordered the Beet and goat cheese salad and the Manitoba chicken breast. To drink was the Aranciata flavor of San Pellegrino. The meals came fast and were delicious. I especially liked the dijon vinaigrette and candied walnuts on the salad. Great mix of flavours with the roasted beets and soft goat cheese. We were there later in the evening - around 9pm - so it wasn't that full in the restaurant, with space to have a good conversation. Ambiance is very nice. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. Thanks for a great meal.

The food is mediocre and the service is TERRIBLE! The only thing that came quickly was the bill! We waited 45 minutes to order and had to force drink orders. But the SECOND the plates were cleared, the bill and the waitress with the Interac machine were there. While I had a full glass of wine! We had a big bill and were incredibly patient and polite until the end… Honestly Olive Garden is better and I wouldn’t go there even if it was free!

Fantastic casual dining atmosphere with loads of specials and wine pairings. Whomever is tasked with acquiring the wine selection has a great talent at finding obscure , lesser known vineyards that are fantastic. Best gnocchi in the city hands down, and most of their pastas do not disappoint. Bonfire has been around forever and finally caved: now also takes reservations (one thing that stopped us from dining there often was the awkward wait behind the curtain, if you’ve visited in past years you know what I’m talking about). Comforting environment , comforting food, all around great place to dine in and enjoy.

Service is wonderful. Caesar salad needs serious work and not worthy of a restaurant of this caliber. Pizza had great overall flavors but was soggy in the middle on arrival to the table and the dough lacks taste (should be able to stand as it’s own work of art since this is the restaurants’ core competence). The brisket with gnocchi is excellent.

Now that reservations were possible, we headed one more time to Bonfire Bistro. Our previous experiences were very good or excellent through some years span. There were no reservations before and you could wait 30/40 min for a table. We had Gnocchi short rib, with gnocchi substituted by fettuccini and pesto gnocchi (no subs). Both were superb. Apple crumble dessert was excellent too, ditto for the cappuccinos. Service was outstanding. Provided they keep reservations, we will be revisiting Bonfire Bistro shortly.

The service is second to none...very attentive..if u need time to decide, they leave u alone ..they don't hover, but are well aware of your needs.. The mussels were monsters..I've never seen such large mussels . And a very hefty portion as well.. I had a Greek salad with chicken.. I'm a big eater, and I found the salad to be more then adequate.. We don't come here often enough, but will make a point of putting this on a list of FAVORITES..

We had dinner tonight and the meal and service we're spectacular 😁 We tried the Portuguese Water Bread with hot spinach and artichoke dip to start. At our table of 4 we had the Arctic Char, Paella, and the Spicy Chicken Pizza. All the dishes were phenomenal. We will definitely return again. We just had dinner again at the Bonfire Bistro and the food is still excellent. We had the Bruchetta and Meatballs appetizers and I tried the Lamb Shanks followed by the Dark Chocolate Brulee and the Carrot Cake. Several people at our table also tried the pizzas. Everything was piping hot and had great flavours. However this time we were sitting on the right side of the restaurant instead of the left and unfortunately the noise level made it impossible to hear people talking, even the people directly across from me! Something needs to be done to baffle the noise level if you are on that side of the restaurant. We would still go back though because the food was so good.

Friendly atmosphere with a great neo-Italian cuisine. Nicely portioned meals pleasing anyone with an appetite for the Italian flare. The specials are indeed special but don’t shy away from the traditional pizza- wood fired (dining mate really enjoyed it as it looked great as well). Don’t forget to have a dessert- the tarts were packed with flavour.

The food was great! This little spot down on Corydon was very cozy and very busy for a Monday evening. The service should have been better but we were a larger table so it was almost understandable. We came out of dinner happy with the food we had and pleasantly content.

We have dined at Bonfire many times and have never been disappointed. They have a large and loyal clientele for a reason. Everything about the experience is excellent. Being "foodies" and having dined all over the world makes us somewhat of experts. Currently, my favorite dish is the Manitoba chicken. Very unique and wholesome. Service is superior, and dishes have just the right flavors.

Not a high-end restaurant, but the variety of food choices was very good and the wine selection limited but well chosen for any wine pallette. We enjoyed the pizza as well as a couple of other entrees. It was a nice environment and pleasant service. Most importantly is that we'd go back again.

First time I ordered was yesterday. We were so excited to try ! Well , I honestly was surprised by the results. It tasted like day old pizza and the topping was not spread to the end of the pizza. In some spots the topping barely reached the middle so you eat just dough. We were so hungry we just ate it.

Nice basic Italian restaurant with a Wood-Fired oven. More vegetarian and vegan options would be appreciated. Almost everything has some form of meat or fish in the meal. Substitutions would make this place really good.

Went tonight with my wife and a friend and we all had Caesar salads and shared 2 wood fired pizzas. Plenty of food. Pizzas were spicy pepperoni and a pear prosciutto. The Caesar was excellent...just the right amount of homemade dressing. Pizzas were good. Spicy pepperoni not that spicy but lots of tomato and delicious pepperoni. The pear, prosciutto and onion pizza was good maybe a tad bland for me. We arrived when they opened at 5pm as they don't take reservations. The restaurant filled up fast as it doesn't seat a lot of guests. Friendly, efficient server and we topped it off with a chocolate cream brulee. Best part of a good meal. Had coffees and no alcohol. $81 + tip.

Do your friends tell you how great Bonfire Bistro is? Our did but we still only went there for the first time recently. We’ve been missing out! We didn’t have a reso and they did a great job of accommodating us. The menu isn’t too big and overwhelming. The food we ordered was delicious. The service and atmosphere is wonderful. We’ll definitely be back and look forward to picking up a pizza soon!

Met friends at Bonfire for dinner. Love that the bistro is taking reservations these days. Service is always terrific and so os the food. Can’t say enough about the butternut squash and kale salad. Big enough to share and so yummy. Our friends shared the mussels that were one of the night’s specials. They said they were very good. Pizza is always a good bet. Margarita with kalamata olives was great as was the prosciutto and pear. And don’t miss out on the carrot cake!

Came here twice, two different times, and both times the pizza toppings tasted like old odored refrigerated toppings that tasted like other old odored refrigerated things left in their fridge too. Never came back again. I go to Pizzeria Gusto and Cafe 22 instead. Their pizza toppings always taste fresh.

Great service, food quality was great. Shared a pizza and a salad - plenty for 2. Enjoyed wine, weren't rushed by server.

The staff here is fabulous. Really appreciate their kindness and how up front they are about how they may not be able to accommodate (ex. no high chairs). We had a great meal with the whole family and the lamb shank was so worth it!

Wonderful service and delicious food. I will recommend to anyone that likes dining local. Wood fired pizzas are delicious but don't pass the short ribs.

Took my mum here for her birthday. We'd never been here before. Walked into a not overly busy restaurant. Got seated relatively quickly but had to ask for another table. They gave us a high table, but mum is short, super short, so we asked to wait for a low table. They prepped this quickly. Service was slow. Overall slow service from the server, but food timing was good. (At one point we wat with dirty dishes on the table while our server and several other staff walked by us for over five minutes). Mum ordered the special, pickeral, husband ordered a pizza and I had the salmon. Besides wanting a little more attention from her, the server was knowledgeable and sweet. Drink service was slow. Appetizer of muscles was tasty. Mains were hot and beautifully presented. Tastes were very nice and vegetables were prepared almost perfect, but asparagus a little undercooked for our liking. Mum questioned if the sweet potato was blended with white potato but we were told no. Still questionable. Dessert was ice cream, chocolate brownie and strawberry shortbread. Mum really liked her chocolate, I wasn't crazy about the strawberry. Husband did like the strawberry. A nice evening but slightly overpriced. Meals we're elegant and portions were larger than expected. Decore was nice, but staff seemed lax, yet still nice. I would go back as there were other menu items I'd like to try, but 5 stars would require a little better service and slightly better value for money.

A truly enjoyable place to dine. We didn't have a reservation, on a Friday... total parent of young children mistake, but Diana made room for us at the bar. All staff were fabulous. All of them. Everyone smiled at us and helped us to make the experience with our three young children as easy as could be. The pizza chefs even brought the pizza over so they could talk to the kids and see how they liked it. Everything was delicious to say the least. This is the best mac and cheese I've ever had. The pizza was inhaled, and the beet and goat cheese salad was fresh, flavourful and crisp. Of course I would rather drive here with a friend or my husband, but I wouldn't hesitate to go as a family again.
