Six Flags America offers a fun experience but be aware that not all attractions may be available. Check ride availability beforehand to avoid disappointment. Evaluate whether the added costs are worth the experience, as it may significantly affect overall value.
Consider visiting on weekdays or early in the season to avoid crowds. Check the park's website or app for ride closures and special events before your visit. Purchase tickets online to save money. Be prepared for high food and drink prices.
Six Flags is the ultimate place for thrill-seekers and families looking for a fun day out!
This is one of the BEST and UNDERRATED amusement parks I’ve ever been to!
Same things from ten years ago, but still pleasurable nonetheless.
Seems like the park could use some TLC in certain areas, but overall we enjoyed our visit.
This park really needs something new. I've been to a lot of six Flags parks and this is definitely on the lower end.

I have to be honest, I was pretty underwhelmed. It's a smaller park, the good news is that you can get a full visit in half a day. But the bad news is that if it's the least bit crowded, park operations are so slow, that every line just stands still. I went on Memorial Day and it wasn't very crowded at all - I had minimal to no wait for almost everything except for Firebird, which was over an hour due to slow loading and folks using Flash pass to skip the line. I swear whole trains left with just Flash passers. And I was just underwhelmed by the rides overall. My biggest hopes were for Superman - which was closed when the park opened - and even that was kinda disappointing. Firebird has a fire pop effect, but still manages to be pretty boring and not worth that hour wait. And fully three coasters - Batwing, Skywinder, and Ragin' Cajun were closed. On a holiday weekend. Six Flags plans to close this park at the end of the 2025 season and I can't say I blame them. And I'm not willing to say park operations has already given up. I suspect this is the way it's always been run. I'm glad I got to visit before it closed, but that's about the best I can say about it.
I made a special trip to visit from Texas this summer, so I could see the park before it closed for good. Normally, I would hate to see a park disappear, but not this one. Multiple closed rides, disinterested or plain rude staff, single trains on all the coasters, rides frequently down, and by far the worst ride ops I've ever seen. Can someone please explain why there are 2 operators at most rides and there were 8 at Superman on 7/22? Restraint checks take up to 5 minutes on rides that should take no more than 2 minutes. I know these seem like pointless complaints when it's closing anyway, but it matters if you think anyone at management should be relocated. It's a shame because you can see the potential in the park. the entrance plaza is nice and there are attempts at themed areas that mostly work. It's just wasted on a park the company didn't have long-term plans for. Shame. My day wasn't a complete waste. I left after less than 3 hours and went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg for a great end to the day.
When I came here, I expected large crowds. We got just the opposite. We were able to ride all of the roller coasters without a flash pass in about 3 hours. Superman ride of steel and joker's Jinx are decent coasters. This park really needs something new. I've been to a lot of six Flags parks and this is definitely on the lower end. I still had a decent
The park is closing permanently at the end of the season. There were 2 big coasters and numerous other rides closed all day and possibly already closed permanently. Most of the employees were barely doing their job. I wish I would have visited this park in the past, prior to the closure announcement. The park was pretty dead, so no long lines. The rides we did get to ride were fun.
Went to this park for one last hoorah and absolutely regret it. Between corporate and the year-round leadership, they’ve run this place straight into the ground. I hadn’t been here in over 15 years, but it’s obvious the neglect has gone on much longer. Paint is peeling off most rides, you hear constant squeaking when rides operate, and people walking off the “Ragin Cajun” come out bleeding. It’s a miracle no one has been seriously injured or worse. Honestly, they should shut the park down before November 2. The employees? Unprofessional at best—shouting wild things over the microphones and acting like they don’t care. Most are unhelpful when you actually need assistance. The bathrooms are worse than portable toilets. To top it off, most rides were closed. I blame corporate for starving the park, but local management isn’t innocent—they’ve hired some of the worst people and let the place fall apart. The whole experience was unnecessarily miserable. Because of this, I won’t visit any Six Flags park again. Corporate cashed out and let it rot. Stay away—there’s nothing left here worth your time or money. Most likely they will be dismantling the rides and using the land for housing redevelopment. Such a shame since this is Six Flags fault. They could have made this into a really good park but gave up years ago...
My first time here was the last day the park was open. Kind of hard to believe they'd want to close that park. The grounds were clean, the staff was professional, I even saw a ride operator pick up a piece of trash off of the floor that a guest had dropped. Almost forgot it was a six flags park lol. It just feels like their corporate daddy is deciding to close the park because it's not a big money maker, but it's hard to believe it's losing them money. So much history and large part of people's lives and jobs gone because someone at the top wants to make a quick buck versus putting in the time and money to make it a truly great park. It's sad l and I hope this isn't a repeat of astroworld. Six flags just completed a merger last year with cedar fair so there's a bunch of parks that are close together. Closing this park was just getting rid of some "redundancy." I honestly expect to see more closings where there's another park close by over the next decade or so.
I visited this park knowing about the coming closure in November. Overall, it was a good experience and I had some fun. The only downside to my experience was that three out of the eight roller coasters were closed that day. This is a big deal considering there aren’t that many to begin with. The crowds were not too bad and most of the coasters only ran one train. The park is nice and offers some cool places such as the new steam town. On the other hand, there are some areas that do not look well kept. The staff were friendly when running the rides. I would like to come back one day, however, because of the closure I would not return.
First and foremost, this park has a senseless layout with dead-ends and very few connecting paths. The staff are mostly friendly and the food variety is good, although prices can be outrageous. Solid collection of roller coasters including Superman, Batwing, and Roar….but inexplicably, Six Flags America hasn’t gotten a unique coaster since 2001 (Firebird and Rajun Cajun were transplants from Chicago). If the park got more love from corporate, maybe fans would like them more too, but for now, this is one of the weaker Six Flags in the country.
Definitely needs some work & makes sense why they’re closing. Only a few good options for rides and the water park is decent. Prefer King’s Dominion/Cedar Fair parks.
Lines were not terrible. Staff was friendly, most of the rides were 10 out of 10. Or 100 out of 10. Good variety of rides. Nice and cool. Some of the food was not that great or they didn't have it available. That's why not 5 stars
We are an avid theme park family and we have 6 diamond passes. We've been to many six flags and many cedar fair parks and are currently touring 4 new ones . Our visit today was very unappealing. We knew this was one of the smaller parks and were happy that it wasn't to crowded as I would say that close to half of the bigger rides were closed (pictures attached). We were able to do all the smaller child rides but my older children were quite disappointed. This was our first stop after a 9 hour drive. We had planned on going a second day but we decided to skip that as there is very little to do. I would be very mad if we had paid full price for 6 people to find out that only a handful of thrill rides were open.
Six Flags America is a nice amusement park, and my family always enjoys going there. The kids absolutely love the rides, and it’s definitely a family-friendly place with something for everyone. That said, the prices have really started to go up. You have to pay separately for parking, which adds to the cost, and now the water park is no longer included in the admission price—you have to pay extra for that too. It’s still a fun place to spend the day, but all the additional costs make it harder to justify going as often as we used to.
Not all rides were open, so they don't get a 5 star review. The Superman coaster was the best coaster I have been on in a long time. I highly recommend it. It doesn't look like much from the ground. It's way longer than it looks, it's very fast and has 2 sets of 2 loops that lay on the ground instead of overhead. We stood in line for the joker ride twice. Each time the ride closed before we got there so we waited in vain. The park was clean. The staff was professional and nice. The food and drinks were, of course, very pricey. $8.50 for a 20-oz bottle. $7 for a single pickle. We used an online retailer to buy our tickets and saved 50%. They could have had more shade for the lines. It wasn't too crowded. Wait times were reasonable.
We had a great time. It's not the feel it was years ago. But it was enough for us. Amazing no lines! Got on every ride we wanted with no wait. It was a fun day! And there was nowhere to get beer or wine! Just ONE place. That was in the water park area.
We visited on Sunday morning with the goal of riding all the roller coasters. We arrived before opening. Within two hours we had ridden all the coasters that were open (Wild One was still closed when we left). All the employees we encountered were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the train ride also, but it was interesting/odd to go by an abandoned kiddie section and some old ride structures. Seems like the park could use some TLC in certain areas, but overall we enjoyed our visit.
I absolutely love Six Flags. Definitely one of my favorite amusement parks I’ve ever been to. I always came here multiple times during the summer as a kid so I had to come one last final time. before they close for good. Some of their rides were shut down, but we still had a great time. The workers are super nice and polite. I’m glad my kids got to come at least one time before they shut down for good. We had such a great time but also sad knowing this will be our last time here for good and this place will set vacant. I do recommend buying tickets online since they’re half off? I also recommend getting a souvenir cup for $20 so you can get free refills for the rest of the day and you can keep the cup as a little memory.
We got there right after the park opened, and it was a blast. No lines, easy access to everything. Our 7-year old twins thought it was magical. If you like amusement parks then you can't go wrong with Six Flags. I grew up going to Magic Mountain in California, so this was a really fun nostalgia trip for me. Get the season passes if you are even thinking of going twice in the same year.
Pretty sad to see this place closing down. I surprisingly had a better time here than SFNE. I just thought that here, everything wasn't crammed into one little space like over there. Although, Six Flags New England has some nice buildings. Back to Six Flags America. It wasn't very crowded. On days where it's busy, the I'll expect the lines to be 2 hours each because these operations are BAD. There were only running one train on half of the coasters and it took them about 3 minutes to dispatch each train. They were only running on gondola on Voodoo Drop and it still took like 2 minutes. I hope their operations get better because this park is closing in less than a month. I did have a great time for my 4 hours there even though it rained (the reason why I only stayed there for 4 hours.) Come check this place out before closing on 11/2/25
THIS REVIEW WILL SAVE YOU MONEY. The park closes permanently in November. If you plan to go before it does, buy the standard ticket. I promise there is NO need to buy a fast pass of any kind as the park is mostly empty even on weekends. If you buy a single meal deal, there’s about a $4 cost savings if you order your meal and drink from Jonny Rockets ($28 regular and $24 with the meal deal ticket). My wife and I enjoyed the rides and the theme park, and we hope they build something similar there.
I know that this park is closing next month so I went one last time. I was disappointed that Superman: Ride of Steel, and Batwing was closed. I went on 6 rides and the wait time was 5 minutes or less. Ragin Cajun had a longer wait so I didn't go on that ride. I was going to ride Harley Quinn Spinsanity but they were having a problem getting the seat belts to lock so I got out of line. The rides that I went on were very rough. I didn't want to ride them again. I saw 3 shows and they were very good. It's sad that the park is closing but the roller-coasters need to be replaced.
Great experiece. Wait times were shorter than usual, but rides have not been updated much. Same things from ten years ago, but still pleasurable nonetheless. ESPECIALLY water park. DC Park is better than most around the US which have just either an amusement park or water park. Love having both.
Absolutely wonderful park to visit! The employees are amazing and so friendly. The rides are not the best but it is definitely worth a visit to the park if you are in the area. We always have a great time at this park.
Great time had by everyone that was there. It was a Saturday and a bit hot but the lines were not that long and all the rides seemed to be working. Would def recommend everyone going and experiencing this park before it closes at the end of this season.
I love this place! 🙃🥳My daughter & i will most certainly miss our home state amusement park. I been coming here since I was 9 in the "adventure world" to "wild world" days. I'm very sad to see Six Flags not invest in the park overall that much since 2000. However, what they added since are great flat ride additions. If it got its fair share of investment $ along the years since superman was added, I think it would still have survived the cutting board. What a shame😭 That being said, I hope everyone got their fun in by now. If not, this weekend will be the final hooray! I'm sure we'll be there getting our last kicks in, weather is looking good so far! ✌🏽😎
The park was empty, I can see why it's closing. However, the Superman and Joker rides were top notch. Firebird was nothing to write home about if you're there for thrill rides. Roar was fun but a little rough. I wish we could have rode more but the heat was intense so we hopped over to Hurricane Harbor. Water was cool and lines were short!
Despite the park closing permanently very soon, I had a great time here! All the Roller Coasters had no wait on a Sunday, and we got to ride them all a few times. Park was clean, and the shows were good. Operations were quite slow (granted it is closing soon, and no crowds) but still kind of annoying. All the roller coasters were quite fun, favorites being Superman: Ride Of Steel, Jokers Jinx, and Wild One.
This is one of the BEST and UNDERRATED amusement parks I’ve ever been to! This park has amazing staff and amazing rides! Plus, the day I went, there were almost NO WAITS for any rides! An interesting experience I experienced was when the RESTRAINT CAME LOOSE on The Wild One coaster, which is concerning. But other than that this park is overall an AMAZING park to visit in the area!
Six Flags is the ultimate place for thrill-seekers and families looking for a fun day out! The rides are top-tier, with roller coasters that give you the perfect mix of excitement and adrenaline. There’s something for everyone, from high-speed coasters to relaxing family-friendly attractions. The park is always clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The food options are solid, with plenty of choices to keep you fueled throughout the day. Whether you're there for the water rides, live entertainment, or just a classic amusement park experience, Six Flags never disappoints. Definitely a must-visit!
ok, so ive been in the area since 2014, and today, 7/5/25 was my first time there, ever. heard some stories about the crowds and staff...there were hardly any people there so no long wait, also probably why they're closing , lack of consumers, so I just had to go. sad that the place has to go, because it gives so many black youth job responsibility, and customer service skills. they were nice enough, playful amongst each other, but serious about the rides and safety so...👍 speaking of the rides....im a coaster enthusiast so the #1 SUPERMAN...handsdown the tallest, I saw all of Maryland, and that first drop!! crazeee!!! rode 2x. 2. SKYWINDER...yellow/red coaster. see pic. tucked all the way in the back in such a tight area, but it gives u alot in 2 min. twists, turns, 2 drops. rode 2x as well. 3. BATWING...different. u get in and lie on your back so when it twists and curves, ur facing the ground, and pretty much riding flipside under the rails. 4. JOKERS JINX, green. and that take off!! omg. the best part. alot of freakin twists with that one in such a small space. 5. FIREBALL or fire something, the one that has the flame that shoots out of some mechanism on the ground. nice metal coaster, decent drop n twist, oh, I think this was the one that had a nice twist curve at the ending, and I believe this was the one that made me lose my hat on the 2nd drop. 6. MARDI GRAS. had to do it for the wooden coasters, classics. as expected very shaky in the ride, I felt it in my teeth, how rough this ride was. gave me a slight headache. very, very rickety. ROAR...wooden coaster. was down. 7. HARLEY QUINN, the circular spinning sit-down ride. when it gets up there, its like being in a giant swing and someone pushes u too high...all u see is ground. had a great time, the crowd was respectful for the most part, and no crazy moments.
We were traveling from PA down to FL and went out of our way to visit Six Flags America. Our primary goal was to ride The Wild One; anything else was a bonus. The Wild One is a fantastic historic coaster and was running really well during our visit. It’s over 100 years old and still as wild as ever! We walked back to Superman but at the time we stopped by, it was experiencing a maintenance delay. We could see maintenance actively working to reopen the attraction from the entrance of the queue. Every team member we interacted with was professional, answered any questions we had, and were vigilant and safe on ride platforms.
Oh man, this park has seen better days. I will admit that I did have somewhat of a fun time thanks to my friends, but I can clearly see why this is closing. First of all, the prices really got on my nerves. A single slice of pizza with either breadsticks or a side salad? $17.99. A turkey leg? $16.99. And a funnel cake? $14.99. For what they’re serving, it doesn't feel like a fair deal. Speaking of which, none of them were very good either. The turkey leg not only had a weird aftertaste, but it was also really dry. The funnel cake was just okay, but the strawberries on top tasted super artificial, which ruined it for me. As for the pizza, that might’ve been my least favorite of the three. The crust was pale and underwhelming, and the sauce tasted like watered-down Pizza Hut. Thankfully, since I was there on a school field trip, I didn’t have to pay out of pocket. Shout-out to my Program Director in my campus club for covering that. As for the rides, it has an ok selection. Ride of Steel was great, a really good starting drop that gives you plenty of airtime, and it's fast and intense enough to keep you engaged the entire time. The Joker's Jinx? Also solid. It has a great launch right at the start, along with some decent twists and turns for the rest of the ride. However, I hated the Firebird. It was quite slow and even worse, flat-out uncomfortable. By the end of that ride, it gave me a neck twinge. I also recall nobody in front of me or behind me making any noise for it either. The Batwing was okay. You lie flat on your back, and the ride goes backwards. I did hate two things about the ride: 1) That jackhammer noise once you get to the lift hill before the drop was very annoying. It also hurt my ears. 2) The seatbelt for this ride was really tight, which made my groin area feel some discomfort. Last but not least, the Wild One, which is one of the oldest coasters at this park. Once again, another okay ride. The one major problem holding it back is that it's quite shaky. As a result of this, I had a slight headache once we got off. Other than that, it aged pretty well, and it's quite fast, as it is 53 MPH/hr. In conclusion, there are some highs, but definitely some lows in terms of the ride experience. As for the staff, they're pretty cool. I'll admit I'm a little biased, considering two of my friends from my community college work here, but the staff overall gave me a good experience. They're doing their best with what they’ve got, especially with the park set to close in November. I truly hope everyone working that day can find new opportunities at similar parks, maybe somewhere like Kings Dominion. They deserve a chance to keep doing what they love in a place that treats them well. Bottom line, while I’m glad I got to share this experience with my friends, the park isn’t what it used to be. Between the overpriced, underwhelming food and a mixed bag of rides, it’s no surprise this place is shutting down. Still, the staff made the best of a fading situation, and for that, I give them credit. If you’re planning to visit before it closes, manage your expectations and probably bring your own snacks to avoid the fees.
