Checked into a room with a bad odour. Hotel staff acknowledge odour but refused to change us to a different room. Otherwise clean compact average room. Major building construction in front of hotel so expect noise in daytime. Close to station.

If you want to come to Yamagata for any reason, you may think you have many choices for hotel room. However, if you consider the location closed to the JR station, convenient stores, and shopping for souvenirs, you got only one choice, the Richmond hotel. Until 0:00am, open its lounge with free soft drinks.

Great hotel! Has free drinks every day from 12pm to 12 midnight. They give u free skincare packs for every day that you're staying. Very spacious room (compared to other main cities). Rooms on 12th floor with even numbers are facing the mountains, quite a nice view. Has coin laundry that is clean. And you can choose the pre wash option where it cleans the washing machine before u put your clothes in. Would definitely stay again.

Five minutes walk from Yamagata station. Queit, new, clean. Above average of what you'd expect at a Japanese business hotel.

We had a great 4 night stay at Hotel Richmond Ekimae. Firstly, the location is excpetional. As we were using Yamagata as a gateway to exploring the area, we could not fault the location. There is a plethora of food available on the other side of the station too + the facilities at the station itself had great options too. The room was clean, adequately sized and suited our needs. The one feature I appreciated was the ability to not have your room serviced daily, and as a thank-you for being 'eco', you received a ¥500 voucher/day to spend at the convenience stores. Genius. I loved Yamagata region and this property allowed for a great, relaxing stay all the while enjoying the regions finest.

Standard hotel with all the required facilities. A bit bigger than those rooms in Tokyo. Close to Yamagata station, 5 mins walk from the west exit. There is a 24 hr supermarket MaxValue and 7-11 convenience stores nearby. Hotel breakfast is good with good selections. Coin laundry is available. There are a lot of restaurants in the east side of the station. Most important, the staffs are very friendly and helpful, they are helping me to change and cancel restaurant bookings, arrange next hotel's car pick up and courier my luggages to Sendai.

Room 1015 was a huge room with lots of closet, hanger and luggage space. You could camp out for a long stay and not feel cramped. There was a large couch, easy chair, coffee table and a massage chair, too. The internet was fast and reliable, and the aircon worked well. The headboard had mains outlet, USB charge point and room lighting controls, in addition to a good reading lamp. The capucciono machine at breakfast was the best so far on this trip, >60 hotel stays so far. The hotel is very near the station. GREAT place to stay.

Overall of the hotel is good but I did not have the breakfast in the restaurant as it was not the the price I want. Room is good as is big and clean, however, fridge was not cold so my ice cream melted. Location of the hotel is good as it is near the JR station.

Fantastic accommodation and close to everything. Rooms are comfortable and warm. Our double room included a massage chair...amazing! A close walk to 7-11, Station and restaurants. English at reception was not fantastic, but enough to get by. I would certainly return here.

Great location and nice rooms. Fantastic staff! The free soft drinks and tea/coffee from noon are a great bonus. Close to the station and to a supermarket.

The price is really affordable and the room is very spacious. But there is some dust on the head of the bed. What is dissatisfying is that the price of breakfast is different from the 1300 yen written on Agoda. The price has been increased to 1600 yen, and there are not many choices. The bread is packed, much like an airplane meal bag, it’s a pity that there is no croissant. However the all day free drink is good. Overall good place to stay.

This hotel is new, modern and clean. Yet it is very overpriced considering the fact that they have no gym, no onsen and even the parking is for extra fee. Also, the staff is not very welcoming. There are similarly modern hotels in Yamagata that are better located, offer more facilities, staff is nicer and they are better priced like daiwa roynet hotel.

Room is bigger than the usual other hotel in Japan, very close to the train station, clean. Check in is at 2 and check out is at 11 which is very generous.
