One word - Amazing! The meals here were not only delicious but the volume was so big that we could barely finish everything :)) All staffs were so nice and friendly too, especially the bus driver. Whenever I called him to pick us up at the station or at the ski place, he showed up in 5 mins with big smile on his face. Thank you and will definitely come back here when I visit Zao again!

Super clean place and super nice staff. They let us wait in the lobby for our night bus and they even gave us free fruits!!!!!

It was a wonderful time spent there. The hot bath was pretty hot but I like it this week. It is not very far from the ski area. The staff is very friendly. I can only recommend. It is very close to the ski station and it is possible to walk there. I really liked the mood of the place and I wish I can go back there next year. Probably it’s best to book a bit in advance.

The hotel is located a few minutes walk from the slopes, but they also offer a helpful shuttle service to and from the slopes, and the Zao bus terminal (ask for schedule). They have two baths: Normal main bath, and the natural hot-spring bath separately. Dinner and breakfast are very filling and delicious, using the local produces and specialties. If you're renting ski/snowboard goods, the hotel has a discount program with an associated store.

Not much English spoken but the staff are still very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little dated but that didn't bother me. The bath house is perfect, with a large indoor bath and a small outdoor bath. There is a second bathroom that is fed by the naturally milky local hot spring. Very soothing.

I’ve really needed an escape from Tokyo and I received it in the best way possible. Matukenaya Annex is a wonderful place. The staff was very friendly, nice and helping, although I don’t speak Japanese. I’ve enjoyed my room, traditional and spacious. The dinner was very delicious as well! I fell in love with the onsen facilities, It was a truly wonderful experience to relax in the real sulfide bath, while watching the sunset and listening to the songs of cicadas. Highly recommend this place. A traditional Japanese experience. Arigatogozaimasu 🙇🏼‍♂️

The service and food was superb The onsen was great! The price was reasonable for all the amenities and food. I would definitely visit this place again.

The location is easy to find. The bath is very relaxing and the breakfast was satisfying ✨
