I am extremely disappointed with my recent visit to Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe's North Point Branch. As a frequent customer, I have been loyal to this establishment, but my experience this time was far from satisfactory. Firstly, the restaurant consistently suffers from a severe staff shortage. Despite there being plenty of empty seats inside, I was forced to wait in an excessively long queue outside. It was frustrating to see the lack of attention given to efficient customer service and the unnecessary inconvenience caused by inadequate staffing. Moreover, the quality of the dish I ordered, the wanton charsiew dry noodle, was truly disappointing. The charsiew served in the dish was undercooked and remained pale white in color. It was evident that the pork had not been properly roasted before being served to customers. This lack of attention to detail and disregard for food quality was unacceptable. Note: This review is based on my personal experience and may not reflect the overall performance of Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe.

A nice decent HK restaurant. They a good selection of rice and noodle dishes to choose from, plus some interesting selection of beverages. Food generally taste good.

Chicken Chop hot plates with spaghetti ~ The fact the dish was served on hot plate made it more authentic HK feel! Not bad, can try. I think I was lucky to have good black pepper sauce and nice sunny side up that day. The chicken was pinkish but the staff said it was due to marination. I didn’t run to toilet after the meal so I guess, it was good. Lol.

Ordered their signature fried rice and papaya soup noodles with chicken chop. Firstly, the portion of rice was considered too little so it wasn’t filling to me. I would like to remind the restaurant manager that this is not fine dining. Secondly, the chicken chop was served cold so I requested for a replacement. The dessert was a traditional black sesame with rice balls. But it was a very small bowl. Although we didn’t order any drinks, the bill was more than $30 after service charge and GST.

Went there for dinner on a Tuesday night. The food, overall is okay. Service is fast too.

I have visited Xing Wang here twice; the first visit was a 5-star experience, while the second was 3 stars, averaging out to 4 stars. I suspect the chef might have been more rushed during our second visit, which was during dinner time, compared to our late afternoon visit the first time. On both occasions, we ordered the chicken chop. The first time, the chicken chop with rice was grilled to perfection, nicely crispy. However, during the second visit (the chicken chop with noodles), it was just cooked only (not crispy or etc), not as impressive as the first. In contrast, the chicken chop with fried rice was really good. We also tried the beef curry brisket during our second visit, but it was super disappointing and horrible. The curry lacked depth, offering only a basic curry flavor but was bland in taste.

On 13 Nov had breakfast at Xin Wang. Ordered the following for 3 pax: Fried Bee hoon, fried carrort cake, chee cheong fun - Rice noodle roll, bacon sausage & egg set, braised chicken feet, siew mai, prawn paste fritter, a bowl of century egg porridge, 2 x teh C and 1 x ICE Teh C. Since post covid, the portion for both Rice noodle roll and fried carrot cake has shrank in quantity & size. The porridge has since become a bit watery.. probably also due to high inflation, too. Overall, it is still palatable minus the serving proportion for the dishes mentioned.

Convenient place for dim sum and Hong Kong style dishes. Service is fast and staff will help if you're struggling with the online menu. Sweet and Sour Pork Rice that I had was slightly on the too-sour side but fine for me.

Long waiting time for the food. When 1 set was serve , have to wait another 15 mins for the 2nd set andvso on....Staff service for payment got attitude problem. As total payment is $33.09 , i ask if i can gave 10 cents to avoid change of many coins as i am paying by cash. The bad attitude staff immediately say no need. .. In the end i got back change with 95 cents of coin.. 😡. Will not visit again..

I ordered the olive fried rice with pork chop, everything was way too salty and I cant finish. Even the pork. I can taste salt in every spoon. Not for my liking😅. And the milk tea was also too sweet. I asked to change to no sugar, thankfully they changed for me. My personal experience: I will not bing my old folks here as the food are too high in sodium. Will only come for milk tea once a while.
