Good authentic food! Be sure to either make a reservation or wait for a bit to be seated: this place is very popular. Luckily there is a good queue-system (you wait in the waiting-area until a table is available for you). Don't hesitate to ask the waiters fot recommendations on which food is good. Most dishes do not have (English) descriptions next to them so for most of the dishes you have to look at the picture to know what is in there.

This 24-hour restaurant located in Gondokusuman, Yogyakarta has a typical Javanese building design. It also has an atmosphere with Javanese nuances, which can be seen from the music playing, the uniforms worn by the waiters, the names and menu choices provided, and as well as various furnishings and ornaments. The food offered here is inexpensive.

It has a huge value range and you immediately have the feeling of being in a special place. But we only had to wait 7 minutes. There are also regular seats but we opted for the chairs on the floor. The service was very traditionally dressed and the food was very tasty. A great selection and the person could speak English. And yes, it is a horse stable downstairs, you can argue about that but you have to see the restaurant. And it's really cheap. A real insider tip

Great food there! Hardly complain on the food taste ….. they fried noodle is one of the best so far for me. The only down sides are some time we have to wait for a long time, so be patient and prepare for starving before you can get seated.

definitely a unique and interesting place. the service is slow but they are short staffed. not really fair to the staff to deal with basically a full house. i do like the pay at the table when you order feature though. once the food arrived however it was pretty good, especially the porridge. however, it is pretty dirty (there’s a lot of sitting on the floor) and that’s partly because there are 4 or 5 live horses IN the restaurant. they are literally living near the kitchen and the bathrooms. no idea why but saw this AFTER we ate. have to question the hygiene there. still, I’d recommended this place just for the experience alone.

The place was very busy when we went there early Tuesday evening. But it didn't take long until we were ushered in to our seats. The food we ordered were delicious and nicely prepared. The price was also very reasonable. Moreover, the waitress that attended us was very friendly and helpful. I liked that staff wore traditional Javanese attire. How it could have been better: The music was too loud for my liking. To my consternation the restaurant only accepted cash. Overall, it is a place worth visiting when you are in Jogjakarta.

A must visit restaurant with strong Jawen traditions when you visit Jogja. The food is fantastic and price reasonable. Waitresses dressed in traditional costume while taking orders while the scent of kemenyan permeates in the air. Love the ambience!

House of Raminten is kinda a unique and specific reataurant. There are many people but it is not noisy. It has various menu that you can order. The foods are tasty and I like the drinks too. The atmosphere is really good with a very strong javanese culture. You can see from the furniture, accessories, even the waiters. The waiters are wearing a traditional clothes. It makes the place special with good manners. They have also second floor for more customers. Sometimes you gotta wait to get a spot. They have a wait line based on your arrival and table available for how many people. Another thing that is interesting is the toilet. It is clean and it has good smell. You can see horses when you go to the toilet. There are some spots also that people can take picture at. Please kindly check pictures on my review to see the places. Enjoy!

Special spot. Good food. Good service. Nice presentation. Good itself wasn’t particularly memorable. More of a tourist spot.

It's one of the most popular restaurants as they offered a different ambience. They offer a traditional Javanese ambient with many interesting objects that you can take pictures with. Besides that, at the back, near the toilet area, they have horse stables. There are 3 stables with horses which one of the staff claimed to be the horses of the palace's. Their food are traditional Javanese food. Their portion is quite satisfying.

The food, ambience, staff, everything is outstanding ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Raminten surely knows how to do business and attract customers. Unique and interesting place. Always crowded with mostly tourist during weekend. They even host several horses here! Food-wise just average but really lived-up with the price. Reasonable portion too.

Well the place is well known, love the concept. I think the main reason people come here is because the experience they get while having lunch or dinner in this place. The way they introduce local culture throughout their design and service is attractive. But for the food itself, I think It is just average.

So many options menu, artsy place and historical place. Ambience 10/10 ✨ The passion of art and acting make Hamzah Sulaiman create super antique place to visit at Yogyakarta called House of Raminten 🙎‍♀️ Actually all the menu nothing zonk. Especially their desserts all are so good! 🥞🍰🎂🧁🍮 Recommend dish: - Wedang Ronde - Durian Pancake - Es Teller

The parking lot is limited. During lunch or dinner time, especially on the weekends, you might need to park a little bit far from the restaurant. There is a waiting room and clothes store as well. The decoration inside is historical and appealing. The restaurant is vast. I try several menus and the foods are yummy, with affordable price and plenty portion. Overall, I recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Jogja!👍

A go to place in jogja for cheap food and fast service. Always very crowded. Taste of the food is pretty ok nothing so special. The interior is very javanese.

It felt like you enter different dimension haha, the javanese ethnicity is so thick! From the fragrance they use, the waiter's clothes, and all decorations are so authentic. It was very very crowded, i waited like 45 minutes to be seated, and another hour for the food to come. The food and drink was so so actually, but also very cheap, so not that dissapointing. We ordered wedang sereh and susu jahe, both came with unique mug. The wedang sereh mug was very very tall, while the susu jahe had unique shape. Oh, the suprise didnt stop there! They had actual horse nearby the toilet. No wonder why they use the sharp fragrance, turned out for covering the horse smell.

Great prices and unique decor make for a fun, super casual dining experience. The chicken and egg in bamboo was a highlight, but other dishes like the satay and bakwan felt reheated and not fresh. Would go back again but earlier in the day.

Excellent restaurant in Yogyakarta. The food is delicious, in a beautiful scenery. The staff was really kind and helpful. You can admire some local crafts being made while eating. The place is located a bit outside the crowded city center, definitely worth the extra mile!

Unique Indonesia dining experience with the service and atmosphere. Food is definitely made to order, served hot with tradational flavour and awesome variety. The jumbo drink can go around for a party of 4 plus people. Enjoyed our visit.

Went here because we both curious with the taste based on its rating. Before you can get a table, you need to go on the waiting line first and the time needed for it may vary because it depends on other customers who already finish their meals. Anw, its a crowded restaurant with 2-3 floor available for dine-in. The koteka chicken is good but it lack taste. Personally i think it can be added with more spices or something. The dawet ice have a big portion, even if you only choose the single size. Service 8.5/10. Downside: - only accepting cash payment so prepare with the money (i almost cant pay it because i font have any idea they cant accept any card/qris) - no parking lot

Restaurant with Jogja / Traditional vibe. Even the waitresses wear traditional costumes. The prices are very affordable. But you have to queue for 5-10 minutes to get a seat because it is very crowded during rush hour. Recommended to visit with your family or friends!

My first time to come here and the ambience shows the profound Javanese culture, starting from the place, the crews, and the foods. Most of them come with more reliable prices and for me they really suit me in the taste. And? I got a chance to see some horses near the toilet. That's another new encounter for me.

definitely chose the wrong time to visit this restaurant during the eid holiday, but since we were so curious about it we decided to go and had to wait for about 50 minutes until we got our table. ordered the classic gudeg plate and spicy bakmi jogja, other than the slow service and crowd I think the restaurant is worth to visit, just try to go when it is not the rush hour

recommended by driver for authentic javanese food. food was ok only. queue was very shockingly long (our number was 27th and we were for 2 pax but was called within 20mins). No wow factor but still v cheap food to eat in jogja

If you’re looking for a local comfort food this is where you should go. Good food, good service but if you looking to go here for dinner i will suggest you to go there early as this place get super busy since everyone want to visit this place. Food price is reasonable and you will need to pay the moment you order your food. Very limited table seating and the rest is floor seating.

Good foods with reasonable price, a lot options to choose. The atmosphere very Javanese, and relax. The staff very professional and friendly. Definitely 5stars!

As I can't handle very spicy food, I appreciate the staff who patiently introduced suitable options. I ordered Mie Goreng, Soto Ayam, and Telur Bakar. Generally, the food was okay, though the flavors were a bit salty but still manageable. I loved the relaxed vibe and the setting. The chairs were especially comfortable to sit in, making it a pleasant experience to have dinner and chill there after a day full of walking. Just a reminder, the restaurant operates on a cash-only basis.

Sego bakar and ayam koteka are still my favorite here. Tips: better not to go here in lunch time during 11.30 - 13.00 because the waiting list is so 🙃🙃🙃. It is prefer to go here before 11.30 or after 13.00 to prevent the long queue. This traditional restaurant is highly recommended for family lunch/dinner

Legendary places. When you arrived, you should make a reservation first and you will get seated. The servers' fashion is like in the old Java Era, and they will serve you from placing your orders and you will pay for the menu after you ordered it. No chairs, so you will sit on the floor. But no worries, the place is so clean. I love the Javanese decorations, also I love banner about smoking in the entrance rooms.

  • 5/5 Dinda Azhra M. 9 months ago on Google
I'll say you can immediately feel the Javanese culture? from the entrance and it was crowded the last time I went there because this house of raminten is so viral and no wonder lots of people are trying it. Thankfully waiting for my queue was not so long. The food is actually just like another food in other places, but the point is the atmosphere which is not just like any other place.

  • 5/5 Karolina P. 8 months ago on Google
I loved this place! It’s located outside of the touristy areas so you can really experience the Indonesian culture there! The variety of dishes on the menu was quite large but I can totally recommend to take one of the sets with rice in the middle 🤍🪷 It’s very affordable too! I also loved the decor and the fact that you can sit on the floor! It creates such a unique atmosphere. It’s quite a popular place so we were lucky not to wait but when we were going outside I could see people queuing (around 8 pm).

Some places are famous simply because of their marketing strategies, this is one of them. But the food is affordable despite of the fame, that's probably why people returning. The queue was long but it didn't take that much time to be seated. Waiters came quite fast however the waiting time for the food to serve it much longer than the queue.

I recently visited The House of Raminten and was thoroughly impressed. Although there was a waiting list upon my arrival, it was not very long and the overall experience was well worth the wait. The restaurant is a true showcase of Yogyakarta culture, with ethnic decor and ambiance that truly transport you to another world. The wait staff were all dressed in Javanese traditional clothing, adding to the overall authenticity of the experience. The food was not only delicious but also super affordable, and the restaurant did an excellent job of preserving the authenticity of Javanese cuisine. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at The House of Raminten and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly immersive cultural dining experience.

Great ambience and delicous food. We switched to a normal table as we did not have too comfy trousers on. We had the Sekul Pangkonan, which could serve 4 people and ordered the salty egg aside. The two of us finished all the ingredients except the white rice. Definitely would recommend this to friends.

A famous spot in Jogja. Can be very crowded during peak hours. Don't expect too much taste-wise (at least the price is very affordable): what makes this place worth visiting at least once is its unique atmosphere.

  • 5/5 Shierly Y. 1 year ago on Google
A very affordable restaurant in Jogja. Highly recommend to try!! The place were decorated nicely and detailed. But one thing to be concerned about, the seatings are on the floor, or in Indonesian, we call it lesehan. I came here twice during my visit!

A worthy restaurant to visit in Yogyakarta. You must make a reservation with the waiter to determine an available table. Because during the day, conditions are crowded and many seats are not available. The atmosphere along with the Javanese food here has its own characteristics for this place. The restaurant's waiter served in a friendly and helpful manner with some of the jokes he made. The air in some places feels hot but there are many fans available to keep the air cool.

I highly recommend you to visit this place to feel the real vibes of Javanese culture restaurant. The service was amazing and the price is absolutely affordable. Fyi: I accidentally left my phone at the restaurant, and they keep it safe then they give it back to me directly. What an experience!

Good traditional restaurant in Yogyakarta. If you want to dine in with your family try making reservation first since this restaurant is quite famous and a lot of people coming. If you didn't make reservation first then you have to queue up for a while when you come to dine in. The price is affordable and the food is delicious

  • 4/5 chinL c. 10 months ago on Google
Very crowded during the dinner time. Waited for about 30 mins before we got the seats. Average food taste at reasonable price. The decorations and atmosphere is good but the service could be improved.

  • 5/5 Seto D. 2 years ago on Google
If you are looking for something "different"...well, you came to the right spot. Enjoy the weirdness of mixed-ambience while enjoying your food. Raminten will not fail you in every corner. with the music from traditional instruments and waiters in their semi traditional uniform, it will bring you to be relax and just forget the time. Moreover, the menu, the price and the portion is generous for city money. For some times, you need to wait since the table is usually always full, so you need to be clever on the time arrangement. I am not sure for booking the table, but many people are willing to wait just to get the experience. This Raminten is not the only one as there are several more at Yogyakarta with their uniqueness. So as told before...this is not a common restaurant .

Unique ambiance, helpful host and staff. Variety food and drinks with affordable price. But the food was not as tasty as the reviews. Parking lot is not available. Prepare for a long queue during lunch and dinner.

  • 5/5 Alex H. 10 months ago on Google
Really traditional (to a tourist eye) Javanese restaurant. Wooden structure, sit on the floor, interesting crockery. The menu is almost entirely in Indonesian so you'll have to use Google translate. You wave at servers to order and pay when you do. Service was a little slow and scarce, but that might be because I went at a non peak hour. Got the rawon and penyetan because I have poor spice tolerance, and they were great.

  • 5/5 Melly A. 10 months ago on Google
Really like the traditional concept & service! The staffs are really nice and fast to respond. The foods also quite delicious, especially their "Ayam Kremes", so crispy and juicy. Surprisingly, the food price are cheap in restaurant like this. We ordered 3 dishes and 5 drinks, the price is only around Rp100.000. Don't forget, you have to prepare real money, because the waiter with sling bag gonna come to you and you have to pay it straight away after order. And better you reserved some seats also, cuz they always have long line before get in. You have to visit this traditional restaurant with strong incense smell if you come to Yogyakarta. Oh, they have horse also.
