Me and my friend were in town for 4 nights from August 7 to August 11 2023 when we arrived at the front desk the attendants were confused. They seemed to not know what we were talking about and they expected all of the money to be paid up front that should’ve been our first red flag however, we were already in town and there were no other places available at the time. Once we got into the room we noticed that there was mold on the ceiling and pillowcases a musty smell in the room and the carpet was damp and the sink was clogged. We advise the front desk about all these issues. They said that they would inform and email management. The next day we still had no resolution. We had to complain again over the course of our stay till the last night, and still had no resolution .The manager had not contacted us. The front desk kept giving us the run around , and no mention of any refund or compensation whatsoever the room attendants, sometimes even forgot to clean our room we had to go and retrieve towels for ourselves, the hotel is under construction while people are staying here There is also block parties in the parking lot that their staff are throwing with birthday cakes and loud music. At all ungodly hours of the night. Stay away from this hotel. They are violating major health codes and should be reported. Buyer, beware stay away from this hotel at all cost avoid it like the plague. Not worth $1 a night

DO NOT BELIEVE THE PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE!!! We arrived at the hotel after driving 12 hours from Montreal. We pulled into the driveway and couldn’t believe how rundown the place is! The front desk wasn’t helpful at all. We were told where our room was… across the road. We went into the room and it was musty, dirty and humid. The bathroom was disgusting. The drawers had dog hair in them. The beds had stains. We were given a room on a different floor which was a bit and I mean A BIT better. Did not feel comfortable or safe in this hotel. The place is under construction which was not told to us before we booked it. The fact that you pay 200$ a night is a huge ripoff because you can’t use any of the amenities. The continental breakfast is a joke. A few stale bagels, water downed juices. A milk bottle everyone can use for coffees. No actual hot breakfast. This place nearly ruined our vacation.

Our family vacation was going so well until this place happened. They have a no smoking policy, which is a fat lie, or maybe they're just too greedy to enforce it. The first question my son asked me as we approached the entrance was, 'Dad, why are there too many cigarette butts on the floor?' As we got in, the entire hallway was smelling not just of cigarettes; there might have been some pot in the mix. My kid's next question was, 'Why does it smell so bad in here?' At that point, I knew we could not stay there. We are non-smokers, and our kids can't stand the smell of cigarettes. We had only made reservations and requested that they cancel it. They insisted that their cancellation policy only allows cancellations before 4 pm and that they have no choice. I understood that and asked them what their smoking policy was. 'Why do you want to comply with your cancellation policy but fail to enforce your smoking policy?' At this point, my wife was already angry. They insisted that because she was raising her voice, she needed to leave the building, or else they would call the cops, which they did. We explained the situation to the very nice police officers, and they agreed that such an environment can't be safe for the kids. But they have their limits, which wouldn't allow them to enforce the refund. We resolved to dispute the charge through our bank. I wish I had checked out the reviews before booking. The only positive reviews here have a pattern; it appears they are paid reviews. More than 90% of the reviews are negative. By the way my lawyer friend tells me I might have a case here against the hotel. Especially as this was documented by the police. They just might not have heard the last of me.

Stay away! This has to be false advertising or something. Their pictures do not reflect reality! The place looks like it's falling apart from the outside. Inside, the rooms stink and the beds look lumpy. The room was across the street, which was a first for us. We didn't feel safe and had to scan the room for cameras. Never again. Don't get scammed like we did!

This place is a disgusting dump. The closer we looked at the rooms the less we wanted to stay. Hair everywhere in the room. Mold in the closet. The whole place seems to be falling apart under poor management. The continental breakfast was disgusting. It was in a room in the basement with fruit flies everywhere. We will not be returning. I couldn't rate this lower otherwise I would.

This hotel is dishonest with their pictures. The pictures they post on advertising is very different. This place is a lot more unmaintained than it seems. We booked 2 rooms and switched rooms. So we had tried 3 different rooms. The smell of each room was unbearable and nauseating. I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s not livable, but you would have to plug your nose to fall aslp. Also it was very moldy and itchy on the bed and redness started appearing on my skin.

Clearly, the location is wonderful as is the ample parking. The maintenance person visiting my room was super helpful, friendly and kind. The property holds much promise as a centrally located budget motel. The new owners appear uninterested in unlocking its potential. In the age of social media and google reviews the best before date for this property seems to have come and gone. Check-in: the most unpleasant experience ever. The front of house staff were not welcoming nor overly helpful or caring. The signs on the door say, ' verbal abuse of staff will not be tolerated'. The sign should instead warn you about the rude and unpleasant experience you are about to endure when checking into this motel. Housekeeping Requests: ignored by housekeeping. A/C: privileged to afford a motel with air conditioning however be prepared to sleep in a factory like setting when the a/c is on in your room in the main building. In the newer building across the street a/c does not work properly at all ( I stayed on that side too- it smells really bad and it is grossly stuffy). Cleanliness: room was generally clean but really beat up and dated. The common areas were not well kept nor did they smell great. The former owners maintained the property when it was under the Best Western brand. Even when it was known as McLaughlin's Motel it was a super spot to stay!

Wish there was a 0 star rating-this place should not be in business. Sleeping in my car would have been majorly preferred to staying here. Really wish I had read reviews before booking. Bar none, the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Smells terrible, old and falling apart, dirty and stained. Construction materials piled in unused rooms, visible from the outside. My room was in a building across the street from reception, a building that was unmanned, had a rickety elevator that is over a year overdue for inspection, and to top it off had people LIVING in it that were running through the halls, loudly discussing their personal problems and drama, as well as smoking weed. Window did not lock, bed was so uncomfortable that I had back pain the next morning, and did I mention the whole place stunk like old cigarettes and bleach. Should be condemned. Felt unsafe and jetted out of there as soon as I could the next morning. AVOID this place like the plague.

Would not recommend this hotel. Rooms were okay and staff seemed nice. The hotel is super run down and out of date, but to be fair they do seem to be renovating. The trouble for us was that when we pulled up to park there was someone actively doing drugs right outside the door (injectable drugs) which was unsettling. The hotel had advertised a hot breakfast, but served a below average continental. The only saving grace is the location. It's a super quick walk to the downtown core that is lovely.

When you first walk into the hotel it smells so awful all through the hotel. Our room didn’t smell that bad luckily. The washroom was discussing, and had mold on the walls. Breakfast was just toast, muffins, yogurt, fruit and coffee and is limited. We stayed in the rooms across from the street so we had to walk through a long tunnel to get to the front desk and to get breakfast. Pool was discussing, rust all on the ground and dirt on the sides of the pool. Gym was gross as well. Wifi doesn’t work at all. This hotel would be great if it was well maintained and updated. Only thing that was nice about it was the location.

I am typically quite tolerant with regards to quality and I have definitely stayed in worse hotels. However, I don't think I have ever stayed in hotels that were so overpriced in view of what they offer. That place is a joke. With taxes, about $250 CAD a night. Worth $50-100 CAD max. Cleaning had not been done properly (long blond hair on the floor of the bathroom when mine are 5mm long and my partner's 5cm at most .. and black), junk on top of the fridge. Wifi was a joke. Breakfast exists but is minimalistic. Only plus is location, really convenient, and free parking. And, when we were there, it was really quiet.

The highlight was that the hotel was 5 min from downtown and the I found the bed comfortable. The photos are deceiving. The hotel is rundown, the carpets are stained, and our room was never cleaned in our three night stay. I was told that we need to request it. I requested it and it was still never cleaned. The room smelled of marijauna. Not sure if a plant was growing out back and the AC in the window was bringing the smell in or not, but that was what we smelled for three nights. Yes the parking is free. There is breakfast, but it was not mentioned that it was continental breakfast (which I can’t eat). I will not recommend this hotel to any friends and family heading to Charlottetown. The girl at the front desk was very nice and pleasant. The rest of the staff were not helpful at all.

This place is a motel in disguise of a hotel. We first got here at 10:30am we wouldn't have a room until 4:00pm. Luckily, they gave it to us earlier. Walking down the hall it's kind of dirty. We got into the room, the fridge wasn't working. There was no water in the fridge but a coffee machine is present, which I guess is just for decoration because you can't use it due to lack of water. 2 beds were present which are very basic. Just 2 white, very light beds. The sheets are so soft that not even in the cold is it enough to warm you up. You get a small TV, a closet and a few lamps around. The toilet and shower is in a seperate room from the sink... If you want something to drink you would have to get something from the vending machines. On the booking website it shows: "Breakfast Included" but there was no breakfast! Your only hope is the Tim Hortons a few minutes away. The people at the front desk also feel as if they don't care about their job and aren't the friendliest. Last but not least, the swimming pool looks very old and filthy. Overall, you are best to pay a little extra and go to a better location.

WARNING.... DO NOT STAY HERE! We stayed here June 10th 2022, it was a stop on our 2 week eastern trip. This was the worst hotel. It started by pulling into the location, it does not look like the pictures, very run down. The front desk staff is extremely unfriendly. We were told our room was across the street and we were to park in the back. We were a little hopeful because the building across the street looked nicer. When we entered the building the heat and mugginess overwhelmed us ... it was no better in our room. We directly went to the thermostat and noticed it was already set to the lowest temp it could go and nothing was coming out of the vents. Called to the front desk, they sent a maintenance girl to fix it (she actually was friendly). She said it was fixed and gave us a fan ... however it was not fixed and the heat was unbearable. In order to get your included breakfast, you need to go through a hot muggy underground tunnel to the front desk, once again greeted by miserable staff! Breakfast consists of a brown bag with a muffin, yogurt and piece of fruit. No choice of what muffin or fruit you just get a bag. Finally ... on our 2 week vacation they are the only ones that took a $200.00 damage deposit from our credit card. The worst hotel with no amenities took the largest security deposit. It is now almost a week later and we still do not have it back on card. Will not recommend or return to this place.

Some of these other reviews honestly have me wondering if they reviewed the wrong property. I checked into my “suite” if you can call it that and immediately as soon as I opened the door to my room, something smelled off. It looks like the carpets have never been cleaned, multiple stains on the chairs and the sofa. I wasn’t expecting much for the price I paid, but I honestly don’t think I would let my cat sleep in this room. I immediately went back to the front desk to request a refund and I was told because it was booked through Expedia I had to contact them and wait until Monday when a manager was back in. I proceeded to contact Expedia to request a refund and they advised they had to call the front desk to get authorization on a refund. The same front desk worker answered the call and approved the refund. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I couldn’t get out of there quick enough. The pictures on the hotel website and on Expedia looked like it was in decent shape. As soon as I pulled in the parking lot it looked like the scene of a horror film. The gentleman working the desk was friendly, but the hotel was a dump. I don’t know where the 3.5 star rating is from. I’ve stayed at 1-2 star motels that were cleaner than this place.

Location was great and parking was free and that’s all this hotel has to offer. I don’t think the room was cleaned and you were cleaner if you didn’t shower. Lots of mould and mildew. Did not even stop in at the breakfast - no appetite after staying the night.

Run. Don’t walk. Run. This place is horrible. First of all looks nothing like the photos. I actually had to check it was the right hotel. Got in and the room smelt of pee and mold. We couldn’t find another room in town on a Saturday but cancelled our second night right away. Mold in the shower, ceiling and wet carpet. My lungs want to explode with this mild and smell. This place should be closed. Don’t ever book!

Zero stars! But for google you can’t right a review without one. I am absolutely appealed at this place. Booked a reservation knowing we have dogs and “pet friendly” then upon arrival was informed not only is there a 200.00 damage deposit and “ if your dog barks that is considered damage and we will keep your deposit then evict you” the staff member was not friendly what so ever. Called another hotel to ask them about their policy and no issues if you are a pet friendly and advertise pet friendly dogs bark…. Have already told a few people about your facility absolutely unreal

I wish I could give zero stars. This place is awful. I don’t know how the pool passes inspection with the rust everywhere and the pool stairs lifting off the ground. So disappointed because this is why I booked here for the pool and breakfast. They do not offer a hot breakfast, as advertised only bread. The coffee machine in the breakfast room doesn’t work. The front staff is not friendly at all. The shower is a sprinkle if that. Don’t get me started on service for the room. I stayed two nights because I canceled my third night to go to Rodds. I can not handle it here. I called and asked for towels and a garbage clean not even a full clean and they totally ignored me. It’s 330 pm and I can’t have a clean towel to shower up before dinner. Honestly I don’t know how they even get the business. I would never stay here again or tell others to come. It’s pretty bad that the wheelchair accessibility buttons don’t work on their doors. I feel terrible for anyone in a wheelchair trying to get it in. Like it’s the basics and it’s run down to the ground. It’s literally disgusting.

The worst hotel I have stayed in. Despite the reviews mentioning about the air conditioners not working, I booked a room. I thought that since these reviews were old, the management may have already rectified this. NOT AT ALL. We stayed in a suite which was very warm. I finally requested for a fan which was given to me. At the time of checkout, I informed the front desk agent that the air conditioner has to be repaired before giving the room to another guest. Her response: ABSOLUTELY IGNORED ME as if she didnt here anything I said about the room condition. No apology, no confirmation that it would repaired and not even the slightest regret for what I went through. I will never stay here again.

Horrible start to finish. The pictures online do not match the run down hotel. No working AC in some rooms. No effort to resolve AC in any way even though they promised to do something. At check in, I had to pay for the entire stay up front, and pay a $200 (refundable) damage deposit. A credit card swipe was not enough. The elevator was scary, with a huge bump at the top. We stayed there years ago, it was better then, that is why we went back BUT something has changed since then for the worse.

The smell upon entering the building smelled of mustiness and cigarettes. The hot buffet breakfast was advertised but when it came time, no buffet at all, the excuse was COVID restrictions from one employee and broken kitchen gear from who I guess was the "cook". This fellow had long hair, no hairnet handling food, continuously scraping a grubby waffle maker. Coffee machine was broken there was a general disarray about the "dining" area. Will be interesting to see if they try to hold my damage deposit. Stay tuned

One of the most disgusting hotels I have ever stayed in my 30yr career. And I have stayed in hundreds. The smell in the hallway is something I cannot put in words. A different smell in the room but equally disgusting. Soiled towels and facecloths spent an entire day and night piled in the hallway. I had charge problems on my credit card. The accounting department never answers their phone and never returns messages. Is it ideally located? Yes. So if your're truly desperate...then book at your own risk.

The Charlottetown Inn & Conference Centre exceeded all my expectations! From the moment we arrived, the staff's warm and friendly welcome made us feel right at home. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. The hotel's location was ideal, with easy access to local attractions. The conference facilities were top-notch, equipped with state-of-the-art technology. We highly recommend this hotel for a memorable and comfortable stay in Charlottetown.

If pictures could smell, it would smell like mold, must and stale cigarettes. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. The pictures it advertised is false. It was clearly a motel at one point that was turned into a "hotel" during our stay I wouldn't even comfortably take off my shoes. As you can see the bathroom was left unclean, hair and dirt all over the floors. There was a hair ball under the sheet, pillows that smelt like dirty scalp and stains all over the carpet. It's very evident the management is not worried about anything except taking money from people. Peeling room walls and broken ceilings. Outside is a massive parking lot of cigarette butts and is there is no upkeep. Breakfast is not as advertised as it was toast, bagels and butter which made us have to spend more outside of the "hotel". And the elevator license is out of date. 😮‍💨 the second morning, my husband woke up at 5am and said to hell with this and we checked out. So very disappointing. The location is prime as downtown is walking distance, but what's the use of prime location if it feels like bugs are crawling on you at night and you can't comfortably take a shower without feeling dirtier. Say yourself the money and disappointment. We will definitely be calling trip advisor and letting them know our experience as that is where the recommendation came from.

Visited Charlottetown Hotel for a family stay . They have an indoor pool which was great for us. Basic continental breakfast was super delicious. Great location, within walking distance to shops & food. Hotel is under construction so parking could be an issue. Front desk staff were pleasant & helpful. *PET friendly" hotel !! Highly recommended

Front desk staff incredibly rude? Hung up the phone half way through our conversation and did not come off even slightly friendly or accommodating. I expected more from a hotel downtown Charlottetown. Will not be returning anytime soon. In addition, expect that it’ll take 7 business days to get any type of deposit they put on your credit card back, they told me it would be 3 business days. I really hope in the future you hire and train your staff better.

The building smelled terrible. The architecture is quite unique and would've made a good place to stay, if it were clean. Unfortunately the ambience felt very uninviting, so did the tall individual that checked us in. Not worth the price.

I stayed here 3 times this summer. Before the hurricane and after. The front desk staff are engauged when you are checking in. Daniel the manager is a great person to talk to if you have any questions or need help. Before the hurricane there was a traditional continental breakfast. Cereal, bagels, fruit and coffee, there wasn't a breakfast post hurricane as they just got their power back the day I was able to check in. There was some damage to the hotel from the hurricane so expect some work being done if you're going to be there over the next few months. The location of the hotel is A1 right downtown and walking distance to pretty much everything and a 6 minute drive to UPEI.

After missing my connecting flight last week, I had no choice but to stay at the Charlottetown Inn and was blown away by the kindness of the staff. The staff was excellent, since they were both competent and cordial. Both the room and the meal were exceptionally comfortable and delicious. The scenery outside my window was something I greatly appreciated. Everything about the experience was excellent.

Avoid staying at this place! This is by far the worse place we have ever stayed at. We had originally planned on staying 2 nights but quickly cancelled the second night as soon as we got there. We only stayed the night as by the time they allow you to check in and see your room ( 4 pm) it was then too late to try and find something else for the night. The staff is horrible with their service and the Hotel is run down and smelly. We definitely did not venture down to get breakfast as we wanted to get out of there asap. We will never stay somewhere like this ever again. I would rather sleep in our car really.

For a great location, this hotel has wasted its chance to be great with horrible customer service, dated rooms and a weird smell throughout (felt mike a mixture of mold, must, and a hint of cigarette smoke). The breakfast offered was laughable as the snacks we had brought was a better option. I also want to know why are there so many fruit flies near the juice machine in the breakfast room? I stayed in the secondary building and not the main building, and In the room, the bathroom wasn't cleaned well and no extra toilet paper given... it's a long walk to get important supplies like this from the front desk! I do not recommend and will not be coming back.

We booked for 2 nights, but had to move to another hotel after one night. Didn't feel safe. There were people yelling (F$#&!) on our floor and having a huge argument and it wreaked of marijuana and smoke. Called the front desk and it still continued after half an hour. People at the front desk didn't seem to care that we checked out early. We had a bad feeling when we arrived there because there were a lot of people loitering in the parking lot when we arrived and the place had a stale smoke smell.

  • 1/5 Alison P. 1 year ago on Google
This hotel is terrible. Very run down, smells, stains on the carpet, mold and mildew in the bathroom. Bathroom wasn’t cleaned before our arrival, used soap in the shower, clogged drain with soap scum and hair and a dead bug on the floor. Asked several times to have our room cleaned. Their answer was “ that is a special request and we don’t have the staff for special requests”. Since when did having your room cleaned become a special request? The management are cowards, making their minimum wage employees face the complaints instead of making it right themselves. We tried 3 times to talk to a manager, but every time we went, we were told they already left, and it was 12pm. Would recommend to anyone to pay the extra $40 to stay somewhere else.

You can't beat the location of this hotel. A 5 min walk from old downtown with restaurants, music, walking tours and theaters. But the hotel is very run down and needs some attention. The breakfast included was yogurt and toast. The pool was pretty gross…I think it might have made my son ill. The people working the front desk were helpful and kind. Not sure I would stay again but it was convenient.

My recent stay at Charlottetown Inn and Conference Centre was truly exceptional. The serene ambiance and warm welcome from the staff added to the overall charm of the place. The high level of service and well-maintained rooms made it a wonderful experience.
