Overall, food was decent and edible. Stopped here because it was close to my hotel and I didn't want to walk too far. Customer Service was great, and love that they followed COVID protocols. The fresh fish and seafood soup, with lemongrass and tangy citrus was hot and flavorful. I enjoyed this dish. The spicy, classic slow-cooked Indonesian beef stew didn't wow me, and the rice side dish was overcooked and mushy. Prices were a bit steep too.

I am a bit torn about the ratings to give. As someone who is familiar with Indonesian cusine, I think the taste authenticity is lacking, the spices and taste is adapted for the European palate. Presentation style, was done in the number of course style which again is less like how the food would be served but to fit into the concept of European food with multiple courses. Despite that, the atmosphere and the presentation was well thought of so it was a nice place to be. Given the heavier price tag, I would expect more, not sure if I would return.

Visiting this restaurant was such a pleasure. Everything we ordered from appetizers to deserts was made to perfection. The 3 glasses of wine were paired with the meal perfectly. You have to try their grilled watermelon. It looks bizarre but tastes very good. The other surprise was the sorbet topped with a szechuan button flower. It creates an explosion in your mouth, but the sorbet calmes your taste buds down to a very pleasant feeling. This is definitely not a traditional Indonesian cuisine, but it is worth trying.

Unique and tasteful experience, highly recommended! The restaurant sits central in Amsterdam and easy to reach. Immediately when you walk in you feel calm and welcome. This is because the music in the background plays decently and is being supported by the nice atmosphere created by the light and shadow effects. Our waiter Michu provided very enjoyable and friendly evening. The atmosphere was great. We would not have thought about asking for more. We ordered the Videotype and the 3-Wine menu to go with it. The food was nothing but amazing. The serving of the wine matched perfectly with the dishes. We liked the duck and the seafood soup the most but to just to point out: Evert meal was unique and tasty. We give the resturant 5/5 because the "creations" tasted very good, the atmosphere was awesome, the restaurant has a great look and the waiter was super friendly! The price to performance ratio is a 1:1. By that we want to say that the experience was worth its price. The restaurant is a must-see for those who like to experience the Asian kitchen on a different level.

Small little bistro (mb seating 40) with wonderful Indonesian food. I didn't have the rijstafel as usually you can't when dining solo in Indonesian restaurants. Nicely decorated. I had the rabbit satay with grilled watermelon as an appetizer. Delicious and inventive. The main course was sumatran spicy prawns, served with yellow rice, vegetables and pickled vegetables. Dessert was Indonesian cake, spices with cinnamon and cardamom, sides of fruit and fruit ice.

A really nice place to discover the Indonesian cuisine - variety of plates that are adopted in way (from my point of view) to European taste and are still keeping the richness and uniqueness of their cuisine: some plates impressed us by the mixture of flavors, especially chicken & beef. Pay attention to the “spice” level - for those not used to/not fans it might be quite hot at some point so I would recommend to check it with the personnel. The service is quite effective, reactive and welcoming. The only comment I have as a person living in Paris and discovering variety of different restaurants every week in a very expensive city I must say that price/quality ratio here is a bit high - 42.5 for a discovery menu (which was quite varied and at the same time not WOW): a price for each you might almost have a 1 Michelin star experience in Paris (obviously you need to know). Nevertheless I would recommend to try this one. Thank you for the experience!

Very good and tiical Indonesian food. A friend who lived there recommended me this restaurant because it has real Indonesian food. Very well presented dishes, great taste, normal size, you will not feel very full but will not be hungry. The service was excellent. The only problem is that it took a bit long from one dish to other, may be because we were a very big table. In general, we didn't like the Indonesian cocktail. Very recommended!

My wife and I had one of the loveliest meals of our lives here last night. The food was deliciously inventive and beautifully presented. The small space gives it a familial feel and the attentive staff are courteous and thoughtful. The star is the food, though. I wish we were in Amsterdam longer so we could have more of the menu. Thank you to the chef and staff for an unforgettable evening.

The food is exceptional and if you wait for the desert it will blown your mind / mouth. It's super beautiful modern Indonesian well priced for a fancy date. Expect to invest 50 euro on a menu you will not forget

I had the pleasure of dining at this unique restaurant that combines Indonesian, and Dutch flavors. The rijstaffel was a delightful journey through various dishes, and the grilled watermelon was a surprisingly delicious highlight. The edible flower Szechuan in the dessert was a delightful touch that added to the overall experience. What truly stood out, though, was the excellent service. The staff's attention to detail and friendly demeanor made the evening truly memorable. I highly recommend this restaurant for a one-of-a-kind culinary adventure.

Incredible! Service was so friendly, attentive, and warm. We loved the food, especially the seafood stew and the three mains for the 75 euro set menu. Can’t recommend this restaurant enough!!

Lovely, hospitable people and amazing food. Indonesian food with other Asian influences and some experimental touches; overall a fine dining experience. I do think that, comparing it to other restaurants with set menus, they would perhaps get more people to try their food if their menu was maybe 10% or 15% cheaper.

It was a true pleasure to get in this restaurant. Waiters are very welcoming, and the cooking is amazing. The work on the tastes is incredible between spices and fine and light-tasted preparation.

Food was very good, but if you’re looking for ‘classic’ Indonesian cuisine this is not really it. The ‘spicy’ dishes were not very spicy. Recommended wine they served us was disappointing. Service was attentive but also rather unusual, with communication awkward at times. Bathroom was not clean and restaurant interior seems to not live up to the food. I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. Perhaps they have recently changed owners? Food is good but can’t whole-heartedly recommend based on my dining experience.

I went there after hearing a friend raved about the terrific food. I went alone and didn’t have a reservation, but they were kind enough to accommodate me. I chose the Sultan and I, 4 course meal option. Each of the food items were perfect size, wonderfully flavorful and beautifully presents. The Indian surprise was in the dessert. What made the experience even more enjoyable was my server, Abu, he was attentive and patiently explained what each item were and how to best to eat them to experience the full flavors. Highly recommend the delightful experience to all.

We had a lovely meal. The music was particularly good and the service personal and attentive. I did expect a more elevated take on Indonesian cuisine, hence my 4 star rating.

Fine dining, Asian cuisine with a twist. There is no a la carte menu, you can choose from three options of menus, all of them including amouse bouche, appetizer, soup, main course and dessert. one of the three options is vegetarian. The service is nice, the waiters explain every dish when they serve it to you. The food is exquisite and totally deserves the price.

Exceptional food. We had never had Indonesian before and totally blown away. Although we were told it was not completely authentic and had a modern twist, we really can’t fault the regural set menu at all. Every dish was perfectly seasoned and delicious with the service and staff being stand out. Thank you so much!

We went here at the last minute, but didn't realise they only had 3x set menus with very fancy sounding dishes. It wasn't quite what we had in mind, so we left without ordering. The staff were friendly, but I can't comment on the food since we left before eating. I'm sure it would have been lovely on another occasion.

This place really, really disappointed us. We love good Indonesian food, and the food was just not authentic. The spices were lackluster, and the vegan options were unappealing. Our rice dish was served tepid. I will say that the staff was trying, but the food quality and long wait-time ruined the experience for us.

Lovely staff; eager to please. That and the charred watermelon were the only redeeming feature of the restaurant and warrant a star. Everything else was a BIG let-down. Bland, overpriced food. It does disservice to the cuisine to call this food "Indonesian", especially when you have some excellent, authentic Indonesian fare a short walk away in every direction.

A great Indonesian restaurant with a twist. The quality of the food is excellent and worth the price. Wine selection is also impressive. I'd recommend to order the sultan rijstaffel for dinner

Highly recommend this place. Cool setting and excellent service for some wonderful food. We had the mainly meat based rijsttafel and found it to be delightful from start to finish. The accompanying wines work well and are great value for money.
