When
I
look
at
the
previous
experiences
of
others
with
this
hospital
I
recognize
myself
in
that:
good
and
bad
experiences,
but
the
bad
ones
clearly
predominate
in
addition
to
the
simultaneous
realization
that
we
really
have
to
make
do
with
this
in
the
Noordkop.
That
the
hospital
is
unworthy
of
a
welfare
state,
I
dare
to
defend
that
statement.
At
the
same
time,
the
hospital
was
also
regularly
life-saving
for
my
parents
who
were
close
to
home
here.
Look,
'arrogance'
can
be
found
all
over
the
Netherlands
in
healthcare,
for
example,
you
can
easily
and
quickly
measure
the
proof
that
it
is
there
by
the
fact
that
healthcare
personnel
are
really
needed
as
soon
as
they
are
really
needed,
such
as
during
Covid
and
time
(understandably)
socially
acclaimed
immediately
start
making
financial
demands
based
on
the
bid
of
weakness
that
they
would
always
have
been
underpaid.
Catering
work,
for
example,
is
just
as
hard,
you
have
to
work
there
or
your
life
depends
on
it
and
that
is
also
paid
much
less.
And
indeed
the
professional
training
in
the
catering
industry
only
lasts
4
years
and
you
will
not
easily
'accidentally
poison'
someone
in
a
restaurant,
but
that
is
why
the
wages
in
healthcare
are
also
clearly
higher.
In
the
Northwest
both
my
parents
were
therefore
regularly
'visiting'.
I
once
found
my
father
with
his
whole
pajamas
covered
with
blood
from
coughing,
when
I
walked
in
with
my
mother,
he
had
been
lying
like
that
for
hours,
and
during
the
day
...
The
'roommates'
looked
straight
ahead
and
the
staff
really
poured
it
attention
to
when
we
(my
mother
and
I)
entered.
I
immediately
pulled
my
mother
out
of
the
room,
she
turned
to
me
and
said,
"Daddy's
not
doing
well,
eh."
Two
days
later,
after
another
visit,
I
noticed
that
Dad's
oxygen
mask
was
not
working
at
all
(I
did
not
see
a
haze
on
the
cap),
the
nurse
tapped
the
device
a
few
times
and
said
that
it
had
been
like
that
for
some
time
...
Three
days
later
...
it
was
not
yet
repaired
and
the
same
sheet
a
suit
while
my
father
literally
took
every
breath
moisture.
On
the
TV
of
the
patient
next
door,
a
discussion
took
place
at
the
same
time
about
market
forces
in
healthcare
...
Eventually,
Daddy
got
'an
oxygen
bottle'
(the
device
that
didn't
work
was
on
the
wall),
because
of
my
actions
...
I
thought
of
myself,
of
later
on,
because
I
have
no
children,
who
would
take
care
of
me
in
that
case
without
the
life-saving
visits
from
relatives?
That
was
clear,
the
gods
probably,
I
immediately
resolved
to
behave
even
better
and
so
to
take
an
advance.
Fortunately,
I
have
good
experiences.
But
the
bad
predominate
for
my
objective
eye
(because
doctor's
son)
really
more
than
excessive,
despite
the
fact
that
I
am
certainly
not
particularly
critical
and
also
not
shy
of
nuance.
It
is
really
not
just
the
excess
individualism,
the
self-centeredness
that
has
hit
us
in
every
industry
in
recent
decades,
it
is
worse.
The
organization
within
healthcare
is
only
mediocre,
commerce
has
gone
too
far
in
a
place
where
we
actually
don't
want
it,
buildings
are
sometimes
clearly
outdated
and
healthcare
is
no
longer
a
labor
of
love
with
passion,
but
simply
a
job
where
you
have
to
perform
to
the
minute.
Is
that
the
case
everywhere?
A
bit,
but
when
you
compare
the
LUMC
with
the
locations
of
the
Northwest
in
Alkmaar
and
Den
Helder,
boy,
you
would
almost
move
for
it.

Wanneer
ik
kijk
naar
de
eerdere
ervaringen
van
anderen
met
dit
ziekenhuis
herken
ik
me
daar
wel
in:
goede
en
slechte
ervaringen
maar
de
slechte
overheersen
toch
duidelijk
naast
het
gelijktijdig
besef
dat
we
het
hiermee
toch
echt
moeten
doen
in
de
Noordkop.
Dat
het
ziekenhuis
een
welvaartstaat
onwaardig
is,
die
stelling
durf
ik
wel
te
verdedigen
tegelijkertijd
was
het
ziekenhuis
met
enige
regelmaat
toch
ook
levensreddend
voor
mijn
ouders
die
hier
kind
aan
huis
waren.
Kijk,
´de
arrogantie´
tref
je
overal
in
Nederland
in
de
zorg,
het
bewijs
dat
hij
er
is
kun
je
bijvoorbeeld
makkelijk
en
snel
afmeten
aan
het
feit
dat
dat
zorgpersoneel
zo
gauw
ze
maar
eens
een
keer
echt
nodig
zijn
zoals
tijdens
Covid
en
ze
korte
tijd
(begrijpelijk)
maatschappelijk
bewierookt
worden
onmiddellijk
financiële
eisen
gaan
stellen
vanuit
het
zwaktebod
dat
ze
altijd
onderbetaald
zouden
zijn
geweest.
Horeca
werk
bijvoorbeeld
is
net
zo
zwaar,
daar
moet
je
ook
werken
of
je
leven
ervan
af
hangt
en
dat
wordt
bovendien
nog
veel
slechter
betaald.
En
inderdaad
de
vakopleiding
horeca
duurt
maar
4
jaar
en
je
zult
niet
snel
iemand
´per
ongeluk
vergiftigen´
in
een
restaurant
maar
daarom
is
het
loon
in
de
zorg
toch
ook
duidelijk
hoger.
In
het
Noordwest
waren
mijn
beide
ouders
dus
met
regelmaat
´op
bezoek´.
Mijn
vader
trof
ik
eens
aan
met
zijn
hele
pyjama
onder
het
bloed
van
het
hoesten,
toen
ik
met
mijn
moeder
binnenkwam
lopen,
uren
lag
hij
al
zo,
en
overdag…
De
´kamergenoten´
keken
recht
voor
zich
uit
en
het
personeel
schonk
er
pas
écht
aandacht
aan
toen
wij
(mijn
moeder
dus
en
ik)
binnenkwamen.
Ik
trok
mijn
moeder
meteen
weg
uit
de
kamer,
ze
draaide
zich
naar
me
toe
en
zei,
´Het
gaat
niet
zo
goed
met
pappa
hè.´
Twee
dagen
later
na
weer
een
bezoek
viel
mij
op
dat
pappa´s
zuurstofmasker
helemaal
niet
werkte
(ik
zag
geen
waas
op
het
kapje),
de
zuster
tikte
een
paar
maal
tegen
het
apparaat
en
zei
dat
dat
al
langer
zo
was…
Drie
dagen
later...
was
het
nog
niet
gerepareerd
en
van
hetzelfde
laken
een
pak
terwijl
mijn
vader
letterlijk
om
elke
ademteug
vocht.
Op
de
tv
van
de
patiënt
ernaast
vond
gelijktijdig
een
discussie
plaats
over
marktwerking
in
de
zorg...
Uiteindelijk
kreeg
pappa
´een
zuurstoffles´(
het
apparaat
dat
niet
werkte
zat
namelijk
aan
de
muur),
door
míjn
handelen…
Ik
dacht
aan
mezelf,
aan
later,
ik
heb
namelijk
géén
kinderen,
wie
zou
er
voor
mij
zorgen
in
dat
geval
zonder
de
levensreddende
bezoekjes
van
bloedverwanten?
Dat
was
wel
duidelijk,
de
goden
waarschijnlijk,
ik
nam
me
meteen
voor
om
me
nog
beter
te
gaan
gedragen
en
om
dus
maar
alvast
een
voorschotje
te
nemen.
Goede
ervaringen
heb
ik
ook,
gelukkig.
Maar
de
slechte
overheersen
voor
mijn
objectieve
oog
(want
artsenzoon)
toch
echt
meer
dan
bovenmatig,
ondanks
dat
ik
zeker
niet
bijzonder
kritisch
ingesteld
ben
en
ook
de
nuance
niet
schuw.
Het
is
echt
niet
alleen
het
doorgeschoten
individualisme,
het
egocentrisme
dat
ons
in
élke
branche
de
laatste
decennia
treft,
het
is
erger.
De
organisatie
binnen
de
zorg
is
maar
matig,
de
commercie
doorgeschoten
op
een
plek
waar
we
dat
eigenlijk
niet
willen,
gebouwen
zijn
soms
duidelijk
verouderd
en
de
zorg
is
geen
liefdewerk
met
passie
meer
maar
gewoon
een
baan
waar
je
op
de
minuut
moet
presteren.
Is
dat
overal
zo?
Een
beetje
wel
maar
wanneer
je
het
LUMC
vergelijkt
met
de
locaties
van
het
Noordwest
in
Alkmaar
en
Den
Helder,
tjonge,
jonge,
je
zou
er
bijna
voor
verhuizen.
