Dear
Sir
or
Ma'am,
After
my
recent
visit
to
the
Alrijne
Hospital
in
Alphen
aan
den
Rijn,
where
I
had
an
appointment
with
ENT
doctor
Dr.
R.A.L.
Schoop,
I
feel
compelled
to
share
my
experience
with
you.
Unfortunately,
I
have
to
say
that
I
have
never
experienced
such
condescending,
arrogant
and
poor
treatment
from
a
so-called
doctor.
I
would
like
to
briefly
outline
the
events:
Mr.
Schoop
greeted
me
unfriendly
and
without
any
empathy,
despite
the
fact
that
I
came
as
a
patient
with
pain
and
physical
problems.
My
complaint
was
a
persistent
buzzing
in
my
left
ear
for
the
past
three
weeks,
which
is
sometimes
unbearable
and
affects
my
hearing.
This
has
a
significant
impact
on
both
my
professional
life
and
my
family.
Dr.
Schoop
did
not
inquire
about
the
reason
for
my
visit;
instead,
I
shared
my
problem
without
being
asked.
After
just
a
cursory
glance
(literally
1
second)
in
my
left
ear,
showing
no
interest
in
my
right
ear,
he
stated
without
any
nuance
that
there
is
nothing
that
can
be
done
and
that
I
just
have
to
learn
to
live
with
the
buzzing.
As
if
fate
has
determined
that
there
is
no
surgery
or
medication.
He
even
advised
me
to
google
it
on
the
internet
for
possible
solutions.
When
discussing
my
hearing
test,
he
offered
a
hearing
aid
without
further
explanation
due
to
my
decreased
hearing.
The
lack
of
diagnostic
explanation,
psychological
support
or
even
the
provision
of
alternatives
was
disappointing.
It
seems
to
me
that
in
addition
to
providing
medical
care,
a
doctor
also
has
a
role
in
providing
psychological
support
to
the
patient,
reassuring
them
and
discussing
possible
alternatives.
My
visit
to
the
Alrijne
hospital,
which
already
started
with
fear,
has
now
left
me
with
even
more
fear
and
worries
about
my
future
and
that
of
my
family.
I
regret
that
I
did
not
immediately
protest
against
this
unacceptable
behavior
at
that
time.
This
letter
is
to
inform
you
about
how
some
medical
professionals
interact
with
patients
in
your
hospital.
I
don't
believe
the
words
of
Dr.
Schoop
and
I
plan
to
get
a
second
opinion
from
another
doctor
as
soon
as
possible.
I
hope
for
respectful
treatment
and
an
informed
diagnosis,
unlike
my
recent
experience.
It's
not
his
fault
that
my
ears
have
problems,
but
the
least
you
can
expect
from
a
doctor
is
to
treat
patients
in
a
kind
and
respectful
manner.
My
appointment
was
at
3:30
PM,
I
was
his
last
patient.
It
seemed
like
he
just
wanted
to
get
home
quickly,
which
he
did
while
I
was
still
there.
He
showed
no
interest
in
my
health
and
fired
me
without
any
explanation,
just
so
I
could
get
home
quickly.
I
regret
that
I
did
not
address
the
situation
immediately
and
hope
to
receive
a
response
from
you
soon.
