This museum is not quite it. You'd think they would have a permanent exhibition on the history of Haarlem but they don't and the temporary ones are not the best. The introduction movie is ooooold-fashioned and a little bit quirky. Only go if you can appreciate slightly old and odd things. ;)

You’ll enjoy this museum if you’re into Haarlem history and culture. Exhibition including videos, interactive audios, clothes etc were all nice. I visited just after they opened on Sunday, which was quite empty and I could spend ample time enjoying the exhibition.

Great museum about Haarlem, its history and several influences from the city. We loved the divers delivery of information while walking through Haarlem's history, after which the art expositions made sense. Well thought out, I liked it.

Super super interesting for my kids and myself. We enjoyed every room, specially the exhibition about haarlemers. Beautifully curated and with lots of interesting things to talk and enjoy with kids.

Splendid museum. The art section is not really my thing but as it relates to modern artists from Haarlem will hold the interest of the right person. I enjoyed the history exhibits on the second floor very much - they are in-depth and because the stories are told from individual Haarlem burghers very interesting indeed.

The exhibition is quite well designed, some people had a great taste, narrative and eye to the details. You can learn many interesting things about the history of Haarlem. There was also a temporary comic book exhibition, which was a nice surprise.

I had a great time during my visit at this museum! The staff is well informed about the history of Haarlem and was able to answer all of our questions. The main expedition was filled with pretty unusual yet interesting items which I personally loved. Reason why I would recommend museum Haarlem to healthcare students is because the expedition has a "history of healthcare" theme which is very informative to show students how modern-day healthcare has been established. Things to note: - There is a dedicated quite roomy space where kids can play with toys - There is an elevator - There are English options for tourists After the expedition there is a lovely space to enjoy a cup of coffee with a nice collection beverages with next to it a small giftshop with items corresponding to the expedition. The location of the museum is perfect if you like museums, with the Frans Hals museum being in the same street and it being located in the centre of Haarlem.

A kind lady at the receptionist. Interesting story about Haarlem but no sitting place/chair in the exhibitions.

The best place to come for an overview of Haarlems's history. A modern setup with lots of information, you can easily spend more than 1 hour here.

Small museum with history of the city. Really enjoyed. My favorite part is the model of the city from ~1800.

The least interesting museum I have seen in Haarlem. Small, old fashioned. Visit for half an hour definitely not worth entrance fee. Plenty of better places to visit in Haarlem.

We arrived just as it opened, so museum was not yet busy, and met the lovely Tjana (sorry if spelt wrongly!) Who gave us a guided tour. Loved the presentation of the history of Haarlem film ( in English ). The Simon de Heer portrait paintings) are beautiful! Overall an interesting small museum , who hope to have more English translations for their exhibits when their renovation works commence next year . Good luck and thank you !

Nice information about Haarlem. The audio device sucks however, it doesn't follow the route at the museum in a logical way.

Surprisingly nice museum which is a lot bigger then expected in the first place.
