Its probably in ruins now what was an elevated defence wall of a flourishing dynasty in thousand years ago. As a small boy had the previledge of walking up the city walls at kofar wambai, kofar kuyambana, kofan doka and little known kofar kuka.. Also the wall towards the exit at banzazzau. It was awsome experience of a childhood without cameras😎.

The wall is historic in nature due to the various wars fought by the kingdom of Zaria Emirates. The wall served as a protective barrier between the city and it's enemies during the war time. It serves as a means of check up for the visitors coming in and out of the kingdom. The wall is fast disappearing due to human activities around it, and those who are supposed to be the custodian of culture are not doing their best in protecting to preserve it.

Zara city wall was build over 500 years by Queen Amina. The essence of the wall was to protect the city from external warrior, not similar to Mr Trump

Population growth and development gradually led to encroachment on the walls. City walls were built to mark city limits and protect its citizens from invaders. The walls are said to have been built between 13th and 14th century and circumnavigate Zaria city roughly 16kilomteres. Zaria city wall remains one of the most impressive monuments in Northern Nigeria, and shows the great ancient architectural skills of the people.

The City Wall: Locally called Ganuwa (in Hausa) it is a fence rounded the ancient city of Zaria. It was historically predicted that the city wall was constructed during the ruling of Queen Amina to served as a security to entire city.

Perhaps one of the oldest Hausa Cities in the Northern part of Nigeria that has incorporated and blended culture and modernity into its socio- cultural activities. The City has maintained some architectural edifices that attract affection and attention world over such as the Central Mosque, the Emir's Palace and the ancient Amina wall. It is also an educational city that blended Islamic and modern education in different schools. Zaria is blessed with the famous Ahmadu Bello University, Federal College of Education, a state Polytechnic and Aviation College. There are also Military formations and a fine weather. It is a peaceful town and has food security. Foodstuffs are relatively very cheap and fresh.
