I've tried a lot of Indian restaurants, this is the most authentic and best South Indian food that I've had not just in Utrecht, but probably all of the Netherlands. Run by the same team as the 'IDK' food stall in Vredenburg Markt, I knew going in the food would be great and I was not disappointed. Of course, it was on the opening night of the restaurant and they were very short staffed, so service was slow and our order was mixed up a few times. So be wary if you are picky about that, but I am wishing these people the best for the future and hope their restaurant is successful. Will definitely be coming back!

I was suggested about this place by my friend and my experience fulfilling. The food is delicious and they make it fresh. The South Indian food is very authentic. Overall, their food just tastes like home cooked food. I would definitely recommend "ghee podi idli" as a dish, but one should try everything, especially the chat platter 😋 I initially went for brunch, but I loved the food so much that I went for dinner as well.

Very good nice food and friendly service, but some things need improvement. The food was really nice. We got an amuse for free to start with. We still don’t know what it was, but it was really good. The rest was really nice and good portions too. 2 dishes had tomato ketchup and curry ketchup on the side, just for decoration they said. I told them that was a waste of the nice flavors, it’s not Indian and doesn’t fit. To see the menu you need to scan a QR code, then for ordering you need to scan another QR code, very annoying, normally it’s in the same app, a lot quicker and handier. The 2nd frontdoor doesn’t close by itself, and people kept forgetting to close it. It was quite chilly and we kept on getting up to close it. They need to install a ‘dranger’… The music stopped halfway and it was pretty quiet that way (not many people). They still had a Xmas tree, but the lights were out. Like I mentioned before, the service was really friendly, but gave no explanation about the food, when they brought it to the table, so we had no clue what we were eating. We had to ask for a small plate each to be a key to eat in an easier way. So if you like a challenge, it’s worth a try…

Great addition to Utrecht's dining scene, and we are so happy to see another south Indian restaurant pop up! The home style food is flavorful and tasty - just as we know it from the food truck at the Vredenburg market square. The service is friendly and quick. As fellow restaurant owners we'd advise the team to work on upgrading the look and feel as there's a messy section next to the kitchen / toilet with open closets and supplies, cleaning equipment etc showing. This could be fixed easily e.g. by adding closet doors and or a curtain to make these supplies invisible.

Recommending this place as an Indian who loves both south and north Indian cuisines. Both the food and service were impeccable. And with the family friendly environment, we felt very much at home. Too bad we're not eligible for the discount via The Fork.

Best Indian food in the region. There are many Indian restaurants in Utrecht (and wider region), and i have eaten in many. However, none have come close to the food and the experience of Veg Nation. Wow, how much love the family put into these dishes is unique. This is a place where you come to realise that a restaurant can be more than a place to eat. If you visit, make sure to ask the owners about the background of their dishes and they'll be happy to explain features that will amaze you. Hope to be back soon! PS we had a special menu, since 1st of January was no regular day for the kitchen team

Best dosa and chutney you can find in Utrecht, closer to the centraal station. They recently expanded their menu and tbh I have tried almost all of their dishes. Every dish has authentic South Indian taste and flavour. My most favorite item is the Ghee Podi Idly which feels like home to me. Must try atleast once and you will become a repeat customer for sure. ☺️ P.S. They also include vegan options in their menu

Customer service was not good. Seems the attention is given to only one categories of people in this case region wise i.e. south side of india. I waited 40 min for food, no one even came to table, I did ordered with the App / QR code but no one really bothered to ask for anything and they missed one item also. I run Foodie group in Netherlands for Indian bit never came across such experience from an Indian restaurant. Food is average , Noodles were good but lack of other aspect of restaurant ruined the food experience. Pav bhaji was thrown/ put on the table like a local tapri in India.

Last evening we went to this place for dinner. Excellent dosa and chats. We reordered a few items again. Enjoyed the food and hospitality. I would recommend veg nation as a must visit place for South Indian food lovers.

Finally a proper South Indian hangout place in Utrecht 😍 Chat platter was awesome. Too much oil/butter in Vada pav. The ambience is very nice.

I'm no vegetarian, however, I utterly enjoyed the food. It was filled with so many flavours, varying textures and wonderful aromas! The atmosphere is chilled, community like - perhaps family oriented is a good way to put it. The staff are friendly and make the experience all the more enjoyable. I hope to visit (many more times) in the future and I highly recommend you to do the same! As we'd say back home: dit was baie lekke!

Me and my partner are not vegan but we were satisfied with their food. It’s very delicious and it’s in huge portion. Service is good and the owner is really welcoming. The only problem With the resto is that their ceiling was leaking coz the it was raining that time. But never the less, it was a good experience.

We have visited Veg nation recently and the food was very good. Authentic South Indian flavour and the ambiance is quite spacious. A very good place to go with family and can try a variety of dishes. We took special Thali, platter and masala dosa and each of the dishes is very good . The staff is very polite and we enjoyed our food a lot.

My friend and me ordered chaat platter, masala dosa and podi idli. I enjoyed the chaat platter & absolutely loved podi idli accompanied by 2 cups of strong filter coffee. Must-visit if you are around Utrecht Centraal and want to treat yourself to Indian food.

I have been their customer(and fan) since the food truck times. Came to the restaurant for dinner and the food was finger-licking good! I had the vada pav, sambar vada and Kadapa masala dosa and all were delicious. You can easily tell that the sambar and chutneys are freshly made , unlike other places. But the kulfi just stole the show! The taste and consistency were just perfect! It is hands-down the best South Indian restaurant in the Netherlands.

Everything we had for dinner was absolutely delicious. The sauces that come with the dosas were all varied and perfect, and they serve one of the best mango lassis we've ever had. So happy they've opened a restaurant and that we stumbled upon it our one night in Utrecht!

We tried three varieties of dosas, and they were all absolutely delicious. The starters and dessert was also good. The virgin mojito could have been better though :) Friendly service and it's lovely to see the passionate team of owners pouring their heart and soul into this place. We will definitely be back to try to expanded menu in the near future.

A new Indian restaurant in Utrecht. Cosy ambience and great food - fresh and homely. We tried some chats and dosas. Both were very good. The chutneys served with the dosas were special. Haven’t seen many places that serve such high quality chutneys. Definitely recommend.

A great place to have some authentic India delicacy. We had some varieties of dosa, chat some snacks etc and it was yummy. They don't serve frozen items and everything genuinely tastes indian not just for the name sake. I strongly recommend this place.

We had the best food! Love this new place owned by women. The one I met is a passionate lady who is really working on new ways of offering vegan food like making vegan ghee. Love it. Big fan.

Great South Indian food. Love how the flavors weren't tuned down too much for Dutch paletes, while still being accessible. Only point of critique would be that they need to work on rounding out their menu. Which is understandable for a new restaurant.

We had a delightful experience at this restaurant! The Pav Bhaji Fondue was a unique twist, blending flavors perfectly. The Onion Rawa Dosa was crisp and flavorful, while the Mysore Masala Dosa was authentically delicious. The Chilli Paneer was a spicy delight. The ambiance was lively, perfect for hanging out with friends. Overall, an amazing culinary adventure! Highly recommended for those seeking authentic Indian flavors with a modern twist.
