The best vegetarian/vegan food in the Netherlands! Especially, if you are from Slavic country and miss your homemade hot dinners! I was so pleased and surprised to taste such food in the Netherlands. It’s not typical vegan fast food, but hot and homemade, yummy! The cooks are from Tibet. The waitress is helpful and understanding! We had soup and main dish in vegan variant. It’s a pity that the only dessert for vegans is fresh fruits. Overall, it was like at home! The best!!!!!

This place is absolutely wonderful, definitely one of the most special spots that I know of, in Utrecht and in general. It’s a very peaceful friendly sphere. They cook something new everyday and you can order a mixed plate of the different things (usually some combo of 2 grains and different veggie stirfries/stews/sauces and salad). You can ask specifically for a vegan plate, most of the time only one of the sauces or something isn’t vegan but everything is always vegetarian. They also always have a really tasty soup of the day! Their desserts aren’t vegan yet unfortunately but she’s working on it! Highly highly recommend!

De werfkring is a conveniently located in the city centre by the Oudegracht with a cozy interior. Everyone who works there are so friendly, the food came very quick with a big portion, and the restaurant is spacey. They only serve soup and/or meal of the day, which you only find out once you're in the restaurant. This makes the eating experience really nice as it feels like you're eating in the dining room of their home.

Not great for kids or vegans. We visited because Google had this listed as a child friendly place. However there were no facilities for kids (no play corner etc) and the place is right by the canal, with no barriers, and only accessible by a lot of stairs. It's a lovely location but not suitable for kids. While it's a vegetarian place, almost everything was egg based (pancakes etc) so no good for vegans. All in all, the wrong plane to take my toddler and me vegan friend!

Amazing food, great staff. And it's nice to sit by the water. I come here all the time. Try it out!

Don't go here for coffee, it's really really bad. Didn't have food here.

If you are looking for a place to chill and have a nice drink, don't come here. We ordered soft drinks and we got a glass with coke and sparkling water with no gas...

I felt like I was fed by my mother. The kindness of the serving lady is indescribable. She always gives me an extra piece of cake and I absolutely love her.

Unsere Bedienung war freundlich, das Essen o.k. und bekömmlich, aber leider ohne jeden Pfiff. Vegetarische Küche kann so lecker und facettenreich sein. Hier war es einfach ein Mix von Speisen ohne Fleisch, der auf dem Teller kommt. Auswählen kann man dabei zwischen genau zwei Varianten für die Hauptspeise. Wenn das Angebot schon so miniklein ist, erwarte ich deutlich mehr Qualität und Spezialität.

Came on the off chance with my son after finding limited vegan options in the area. What a great find! Not fancy but really friendly, welcoming and able to adapt the offerings to make the meal vegan. Absolutely delicious and our plates were fully emptied. Nice to see such a place really busy on a midweek evening.

Best place I know for just having a quiet and really healthy (and looking it. And feeling it too!) dinner alone or with a small group. The menu here is limited, and possibly not for everybody, but for everybody else it is amazingly good, and has been for decades. Quiet, relaxed atmosphere, and as quick a service as any half reasonable human being could possibly want. Do take time to eat though, Werfkring meals are for eating slowly and deliberately. Great deserts too, by the way, and even those feel kind of healthy!

Great place to taste different vegetarian food. Hosts are very kind and do all they can to make you happy. We ate outside on the canal and it was pouring down rain ... Still we kept it dry under their big umbrellas! Very tasty food... I warmly recommend this place! They don't sell alcohol, so of course is less crowded than many other restaurants/pub... But I actually appreciated this a lot!

A wonderful little place for good, cheap vegetarian food. They have one menu for the day, with some variations for people with allergies (which you should mention 24 hours ahead of time, if applicable). The cuisine has Tibetan influences (as the chef is Tibetan).

Fast, tasty food served with a smile. The concept is great, just a single menu item each day where you can select one of the two variations of the prepared food. Because of this concept, food is served out fast. Good for a quick meal.

Very humble place with kind staff and good food. Only seems a bit expensive

We waited such a long time to get our food and drinks after ordering! There wasn’t enough staff for such a tiny kitchen. Canal views were nice. Prices also seemed very high - 11 euro for a pancake!
