A great museum! It's inside the barracks. The guides know what they are talking about! We recommend.

Interesting museum with the history of the Dutch cavalry. 1 buildings with uniforms and small weapons, another one with armored vehicles and tanks. Outside are also several tanks. One interesting vehicle: the Landsverk M38”. Build in Sweden, with a 37mm gun and 2x 7.9mm machinegun, t has a steering wheel in the front and in the back, and 2 drivers. It could maneuver as viable and fast backwards as it could forward.

Interesting place to learn about tank technology and the history of cavalry. It is important to note that the museum is located within an active barracks. Pre-registration by telephone is therefore required. Everything works smoothly and the employees are competent and helpful. We had very interesting conversations. Unfortunately you cannot photograph the tanks outside. The vehicles in the buildings are in great (roadworthy) condition. There are no barriers to disturb you when taking photos. The National Military Museum is less than 10 minutes away. It is therefore worth combining both.

Anyone interested in military history should visit this small museum which deserves to be better known. It focuses on the history of the Dutch cavalry and its evolution into tank regiments, from the 17th to 21st centuries. Chock full of professionally-displayed militaria from uniforms, models, medals, paintings, photos, ephemera etc, and an external display of tanks from WW2 to the present day. This museum is a 'hidden gem' (its website doesn't do the variety of exhibits justice!). It can be reached easily with a 5 minute bus ride from Amersfoort Central Station or a brisk 25 minute walk. Highly recommended.

The museum displays the history of the Dutch Armoured Forces. It consists of several buildings full of exhibits, photos and models. The vehicle collection is impressive and the staff very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. You can ask them anything and they will have an answer. The museum is located on a military base which means that you're required to have your ID with you at the entrance. Plan with 60 to 120 minutes visit time and you will have a great time.

Was really great to find this Gem. Arriving at the gates, we were unsure if we should be there at all.. Just a simple sign in are were were greeted by one of the museum volunteers. What great people with a love of the museum and meeting people. We enjoyed our time strolling around and then were lead to heavy iron on show. We had hands-on experience with some of the worlds most famous armour. Thanks to all there for making us so welcome and all the work that goes into this display. D

If you have an interest in military history you need to visit this smallish museum. It focuses on the history of the Dutch cavalry and the evolution into AFVss, from the 17th to 21st centuries Main building has lots of exhibits, photos and models. The vehicle collection is impressive and located in a seperate building which you need escorted to as the museum is on a live Military Bas. The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Impressive collection of working vehicles along with quite a few located around the immediate area. Dont forget you will need ID to gain access but all very straightforward. Well recommended.

Based on the active Army Barracks where you can wander around, you also find this museum about the Cavalry (from horses to tanks). It's a fun place to visit and usually not too crowded. During the week, you'll see the Army personnel walk around as well!
