Great piece of history and well worth the visit, you get a real sense of what went on in this place, way back on the 17'th September 1944. There is a good museum that is free to enter and very informative, with a small display and good loos. Definitely worth a visit if you in to your WWII history as it is a beautiful place to visit even if it's a stroll down the river to check out the local bars. Please give me a like for the review many thanks Marcus πŸ˜ƒ

Best known as the "Bridge Too Far" from a tragic battle in WWII, the bridge stands as a reminder near Arnhem, Belgium. The cemetery is a reminder of that battle in 1944 and the high cost of war. Definitely worth a visit if you are anywhere in the area. Make it a part of your next trip. Thought-provoking and educational.

If you like military history or have ever seen the film "a bridge too far" then this is one of the locations to visit to see living history in action. However be aware that this bridge was destroyed by american bombers after the failed attempt to capture it, although it was later rebuild to the same standard.

A critical site of WWII history! Arnhem Bridge, now called the John Frost Bridge. The original was built in 1935; blown up by the Dutch in May 1940; rebuilt by the Germans in 1942; damaged by American bombers in Oct β€˜44; blown JPB y the Nazis in Feb 1945; rebuilt and opened in 1950. Watch out for mopeds on the sidewalk. LTC John Frost commanded 2d para. He and his men approached the bridge along he lower road, close to the river Neder Rijn. In the movie β€œA Bridge too Far” Anthony Hopkins plays Frost. Frost was a POW and rose to the rank of Major General.

Wonderful site to visit for anyone interested in World War II history or that is a fan of the movie "A Bridge Too Far." The Arnhem bridge was the bridge the Allies fell short of taking in Operation Market Garden in September 1944. The current bridge was named in honor of the British Lt. Colonel John Frost of the British 1st Airborne Division who led a small force of 740 men in a valiant attempt to take the bridge. German forces at the bridge proved much stronger than expected and American and British reinforcements were delayed by unexpected German resistance on the road to Arnhem. After four days of fighting, the British force at the bridge was overrun. The movie was not filmed here at the bridge because the buildings had changed so much in the ensuing years that the location no longer resembled its appearance in 1944. The bridge in the film is located at Deventer several miles away. A great site to visit for the history buff!

A bridge too far. The losses on both sides serves as a reminder of why wars serve no purpose. Feel fortunate to have visited and shared the history with my son.

This is a new bridge that has been built in place of the famous one that was the scene of the battle of Arnhem between the British and German armies. There is a nearby museum for further information and a modern statue in honour of John Frost. The surrounding area is somewhat industrial, but a walk on the river bank is a pleasant experience, especially if you are interested in the history of the bridge itself. There are plenty of parking spaces by the river.

The bridge is a reminder of a very sad episode of world war 2 and the sacrifices made to liberate Europe from Nazi rule. A lesson from the past that we need to wake up to so it does not happen again.

The original John Frost bridge is well worth a visit if you are interrested in Market Garden. "A bridge to far" was not filmed here but rather in Deventer, 35 km from Arnhem, on the with Wilhelmina bridge.

Explore on site what happened here late September 1944 when Montgomery’s troops were marching rapidly north through Holland, taking one after another vital river crossings on their way towards the hearth of the Third Reich, and then found this a bridge too far : now called the John Frost Bridge after the commander of the Battalion that held it for a night but then lost to see Hitler’s Germany win its last battle of 2nd World War. Philosophise with the ladies keeping the memorial center at the river embankment on how different Europe might have looked had it gone the other way.

Epic stories about this bridge can be found in history. Very cool bridge, obviously not easy to park nearby but still well worth a look see for the war story. Tremendous action on and around this historic beauty. There was a movie on this called a bridge too far with some very famous faces portraying the events of ww11 which happened right here.

This bridge and the river valley makes it an ideal place to capture photos and on the river bed, we walk almost everyday with our dog. Nice place

Very historic site. The Bridge to far from the film of the same name.

This museum is great with so much info and free entry. The staff are so knowledgeable and really friendly. However, very recently the additional outdoor information has been removed from the grass on the river banks and so there is now actually very little about the person John Frost which seems silly! I hope this is temporary and that they will be re-erected very soon.

A bridge with some interesting history. Mostly famous for being in a film, A Bridge Too Far. The museum was closed but I got a nice view of the bridge.

An important landmark and memorial to the men of the 1st Airborne Division who fought there in September 1944. Also, it’s a bridge so very useful if you want to cross the river.

It's a bridge.. it is THE bridge of the 2nd WW, but still, just a bridge. Cycling over it in the morning or afternoon you get an enormous amount of smog on the bridge due to the heavy traffic. Other than that, no real downsides.
