What a nice and cozy place to hang out! There are so many choices of board game to choose from, also the old-school game players if you wish to go back in time. My boyfriend recommended me this place for our movie date and I ended up liking this place quite a lot! Anyway, if you're small (like me), I'd suggest you to pick the front seat because all the seats in the cinema are in the same height level, so if the person who sit in front of you is tall, you might not see the screen well 🙈

Having worked in the bar of a similar independent movie theatre I love how mixed the audience can be. And they all have one thing in common: they're willing to invest a bit more than usual. The cinema also has club nights with DJs so there's plenty of opportunity to party. We recently hosted a meeting here with @expatmeetingseindhoven and it was awesome. Thanks for having us. Furthermore, they organize event nights ranging from board games, quizzes or stand up. In a boring city like Eindhoven, this is a rare and much needed gem.

The rooms from 3 to 5 offer a waiter on the call that will bring you anything you want from the menu (snack, drinks...). There is a lot of space among the chairs that are really comfortable. The shelf in the front row is really useful to support your stuff (phone, drinks...). Room 1 has also balconies to enjoy the movie like in the '60s! This is my favorite cinema in the Netherlands! I go to LAB-1 for a film at least twice a month, sometimes even twice on a Sunday. An ideal movie theater: very friendly staff, a nice retro vintage atmosphere, good selection of drinks and some snacks (which you can order and get served in the room). The lobby is inviting with many old VHS tapes and Laserdiscs as decoration, as well as retro videogames and a pinball machine all on free-play. A good mix of crowd: expats, locals in all age groups. Every time I go there's a very relaxed vibe. The selection of films is steady with a regular good mix of current independent and "blockbuster" titles as well as frequent screenings of genre cult classics: always something interesting to watch! Last but not least, the films are always projected well, placement of the seats ideal (no long rows but grouped seats along one or two center aisles) and the audio is never too loud. An amazing spot for the serious movie lover.

Lovely old cinema that not only had new and old movies playing, it also has a downstairs lobby full of retro videogames, pinball machines(NOW THERE’S TWO OF THEM!!!) and great popcorn. You can get different beers and cocktails and an assortment of snacks. I usually don’t like going to the movies unless I’m going to watch a movie, but at Lab-1 I always feel welcome to come get a beer and play some pinball and chat up the staff when getting another drink who are very friendly and fun. Inside the theaters you have a cute little table with a lamp aswell so you can order food and have it brought to you during the movie. The theater also has a bathroom inside the room so you don’t have to exit and go down stairs, it would be nice if they can play the movie soundtrack in there aswell instead of the top 40 radio hits so you can atleast kinda keep up with the parts you might be missing. They also host parties and art markets. I love how it’s a nice mix of cinema AND cultural events.!!!

The only thing that I can complain about it's that the sound was a little low. In the first floor you have a bar, some arcade games and tables to play table games. The prices are really good to be in Eindhoven.

If you're not tall, or okay with looking up a bit during the entire movie without a headrest for support, you'll be comfortable, otherwise it might be a bit unpleasant. If you're looking for a cozy / different / original / retro place to watch a movie, this is your place to be! - The rooms for the cinema are rather small in width, but that does make it feel a bit more cosy in comparison to a big cinema. The screen itself felt small, this due to the fact that the room isn't that wide. Not a deal breaker though. The quality of the screen / projector could certainly be better. It didn't feel as sharp/vibrant as I'm used to in typical big cinemas. The chairs felt comfortable at first, but when the movie started, due to the screen hanging rather high, you were forced to look up a bit too much. Which would be fine if the chairs supported that kind of posture, but with me being on the tall side (around 1.92) , I wasn't able to lean my head against the headrest (it really does get tiring after a while, constantly looking "up"), or had to "hang" uncomfortably in my chair, ruining my back. The audio quality was decent. But again, not great in comparison to a normal cinema. You could order some drinks and snacks during the movie, which seemed quite nice, however we haven't used it ourselves.
