The atmosphere is truly unmatched, it’s well designed, softly lit and great for a cold winter’s day/evening. I’ve been here several times now and unfortunately the service is truly terrible. The staff behind the counter so far has always given me looks that feels like they’re bothered by my presence and as if I interrupted them from doing some other important work (mostly just chatter with other staff that just stands there). The hot drinks I got were usually served lukewarm to cold, which is not great at all. Their hot chocolate is from a powder and not well mixed, which at their prices is ridiculous.

Much better than the London store. Lots of space. If not outside, can always cozily find place inside. Good matcha (iced too). Obviously, you can buy a fresh Monocle issue here and a bunch of other non Monocle related magazines as well as Monocle‘s lovely books.

The café & shop is well designed and has a cozy atmosphere. There are magazines to read for free within the cafe, and there is a nice selection of goods to buy. The coffee itself is decent, although I honestly had some better coffee before. Overall a good experience and I am glad that Monocle came to Zurich.

One of my favorite place. Difficult to be objective by being a great admirer of the magazine as well as all the books they publish. But this place represents everything described in their writings. The café offers a shop as its name suggests with collaborations of several brands with Monocle. You will also find all their books there but also magazines that you cannot find in every kiosk. If you pass by this place it is better to stop there. (The drink in the photo is an iced chocolate wich is fantastic)

I really like Monocle und normally I just grab something sweet to go. Today with the beautiful sun outside, I’ve decided to sit down and enjoy a mint and ginger tea. First of all when the tea was served, the water spilled over which can happen, but the waiter saw it and just walked away. It’s disappointing to get a tea that costs CHF 5.50 and has old mint brown leaves. Sorry but this can’t happen especially with these prices. Didn’t drink it and left - Won’t come again.

Good coffee, bad service, no comfortable seats. I was visiting a friend in Riesbach and went to Monocle to grab a cup of coffee while waiting for her. I was aware of the bad reviews but wanted to visit the shop anyway. The cappuccino was indeed good (specialty coffee and past milk) but the service was not good. The man on the counter was not able to communicate clear, in either german or english. He didn't know what Apple Pay or Twint was when I wanted to pay. He gave me "arrogant vibes" I don't know how to explain it. I later took a cappuccino to-go and it was made with more milk than the first cappuccino. It really look like a latte. The bank where I sit outside was not so comfortable.

Nice ambience and good selection of coffee creations. Food wise, they offer a rather small but tasty selection (I would recommend the avocado toast if you’re looking for something light and simple). The books, stationary and small selection of accessories is pretty good but pricey. The few clothing items are simply overpriced. It’s probably the best café in Seefeld, can’t give the 5 stars due to the inconsistent service. It ranges from amazing to horrific, with either a superb experience unwashed coffee cups. If this can be avoided, this place would be worth a 5-star rating

Location: easy from Seefeld Straße. Mood: very nicely organized with interesting products. Taste: coffee is very good : teriyaki salad was not original taste with Soja sauce. It’s kind of their own sauce. For me just ok. Service: it would be nice more friendly. Then I would have given 5 stars.

Went here for a coffee on a Sunday evening. Lovely place with very cosy and unique ambience. I didn’t know about the monocle before going in and that its a lifestyle magazine and a media brand with radio station, website, etc based out of London. The staff was friendly, spoke english of course and they also had a small menu for food and cakes. Coffee was good. They also had a shop inside with nice, unique and very creative gift items and monocle stuff. The ambience of the place, the lights, the music and the overall setting was just amazing. They also have really nice outdoor seating overlooking the road. Some street parking available outside the cafe on the road. Would love to visit again and highly recommended!

VERY rude staff! The iced cappuccino is tiny. Go to vicafe instead or other much better cafes in Zurich.

This place is pretending to be a fancy one. Well, if it's so then there's no place for croissants which are made probably the day before. And the coffee is an essential product which cannot be bad. And there should be at least ANY (decent) service. Hence, it's not a fancy place, it's an overpriced place. Waste of time and money.

Lovely coffee shop in a beautiful neighborhood. Whenever I’m in Seefeld, this is my coffee shop of choice. The location is così, the service quick and good, the prices in line with Zurich. Definitively a strong recommendation

I was so happy to find out there was a location in Zurich. This is by far my favorite coffee shop in all of Europe. The coffee itself is amazing and the vibes are too. During late October you'll find the street covered in yellow leaves. Can't wait to go back!

Nice trendy place and specious but if you’re used to top quality coffee (like what you find in london for example) this is not the same. The coffee is very milky and you can barely taste any coffee. And not all the staff are friendly some are rude.

Dropped by for a quick matcha drink, and it hit the spot. The cafe has a great atmosphere, and I can totally see it as the perfect spot for a morning coffee catch-up with friends. 🍵☕👌

A lovely place near the city to have a drink, a coffee or a pastry. The vibe of the shop was amazing as well as the interior design. The area in which is located is very quiet despite the fact that there’s a street right next to it. Also it’s a cool spot to do some studying or even work through the day. The coffee was well made and delicious just like the pastries. It should be added that the staff was very polite and helpful which made the experience there even more enjoyable. Without a doubt a coffee shop you should visit.

one of my favourite “hidden gem” in zurich! great vibe, with good-looking people, amazing service and super nice staff, located on the quiet street so u are not sitting in the typical jam-packed touristy area like Paradeplatz or oldtown. highly recommended for anyone who is looking for good coffee and more chill n cool vibe

Great staff, amazing magazines and products, super cozy atmosphere inside and nice little terrace and outdoor seating. Perfect for an afternoon coffee or wine with friends. Would appreciate actual wine glasses – I do get that the glass might be trendy but personally, nothing matches the classic wine glass! Will repeat and would recommend

Cafe and shop for fans of the media brand, Monocle. You will not be disappointed. They have copies of every publication they have ever made, plus very classy gifts options like bags and stationary, pens. Food options were limited (toast and soup). Best for a coffee or drink. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Love this place, a real locals hangout. Great Cafe, good selection of sandwiches and pastries, Matcha, Teas and Coffees. Friendly polite staff Fantastic Store, full of artisan items, and a great selection of global magazines. Highly recommend. I'm always going when I'm visiting Zurich.

Sat down at the bar for a couple drinks after work on a Summer Friday. Easy going crowd and relaxed staff. Bar is mixed with a design shop with pretty things all around. I would expected this place to be located in hip Kreis 3/4, but no, it's here, on the "wrong" side of the lake ;-)

  • 5/5 Hao T. 8 months ago on Google
Well done on the use of the space indoors and outdoors. The Monocle touches with the shop and the radio space are unique. Drinks are standard and well presented.

Very nice hipster cafe bear the lake. The matcha is the best so far in Zurich. Checkout the recording room in the back, it’s super interesting:)

Amazing Matcha delights. I love how they have mild sweetness and slight bitterness. I had Matcha Latte and the roll in the afternoon, so I am not sure how I am gonna fall asleep tonight 🤣but it was worth it!

very nice coffee and excellent service. nice neighbourhood feeling and quiet enough to read your book or work away. it does not get 5stars because cinnamon bread was very dry.

If you live in Seefeld you should definitely stop by this wonderful place. Nice coffee The guys who work there are great. The atmosphere is charming. Not so many choices of food but at a relatively good level.

The Monocle Café has become our favourite in our short stay in Zurich. We had a croissant with scrambled eggs and a plain one. Both were delicious. The service was fast and the staff was friendly. The atmosphere was quiet to rest and relax. In particular the fact that the tables were scattered so as to have enough privacy appealed to us. We will definitely go back!

Excellent neighborhood coffee shop with so many gems in the store. I had the pleasure of meeting Linda from the Merano store. She is so friendly and delightful! I had such a warm and fantastic experience, I will definitely be back for more.

Great coffee shop with beautiful interior and an exciting and fun clientele. Every time I grab my flat white w/ double shot here, I enjoy the vibrant atmosphere to the fullest. Plus, with loyalty card, the coffees are less expensive than in comparable places. Warning: not suitable for uptight people with insecurities.

What should I say, very international coffee with very good coffee and nice surrounding next to very nice products you can buy. There are small daily lunches like soups🍲 and sandwiches 🥪. Perfect spot for short aesthetic break.

Trendy and good. Had my best matcha in Zurich so far. (They offer vegan milk options)

Located only 10 minutes away from the Opera House, in a tranquil street with lovely trees, the Café is inviting, the staff very friendly and helpful. The espresso was perfect, short and strong. A huge array of magazines, books ( loved the Der, Die Das, if you are learning German get it! ) and I think at least eight or nine newspapers, domestic and from abroad. To the right of the periodicals you'll find the Monocle, with decor items, some clothing, writing tools, scents etc., unfortunately all very overpriced, even for Zürich. Definitely worth the visit!

I like to have my coffee here when I'm in Zürich. A very good magazine selection, and a few nice articles in the shop (priced accordingly to the area and crowd). The atmosphere is definitely upper class... if you despise posh people feeling great about themselves, then probably a more down-to-earth place is a better option :)

I'm baffled by the new 'NO LAPTOP' policy. This cafe was a perfect place for me to unwind and get some tasks done. Now, it feels like they're pressing you drink your coffee and leave quickly. This ridicule effort to increase their profitability per seat will be at the expense of loyal customers.
