Yalda Europaallee

Restaurant Middle eastern restaurant Lebanese restaurant

😐 I recently visited with a friend Yalda on Europaallee in Zurich and had a pleasant experience. Overall, I would recommend this place. Yalda offers an open buffet which has lots of food options. I loved the Lebanese starter dishes (baba ganoush) and the moussaka. I wasn't excited by the hummus types... People often mention buffet, weight, staff, service, good, dishes,

I recently visited with a friend Yalda on Europaallee in Zurich and had a pleasant experience. Overall, I would recommend this place. Yalda offers an open buffet which has lots of food options. I loved the Lebanese starter dishes (baba ganoush) and the moussaka. I wasn't excited by the hummus types and found them tasteless. The location, as everything in this area, was great too - easy to find because close to the train station. It's a place to go if you have children, as the furniture is modern and comfortable. The service was polite and friendly, although it was self-service. The only downside was the price, in my opinion, is expensive for what you get.

Whether you want a snack or a full meal, whether you're vegan or carnivore, whether you want to eat at a traditional time or when many places close in the afternoon, you will be happy at Yalta. It's a wonderful buffet of fresh, healthy, mediterreanian food. Take as much or as little as you like - you pay by weight. Friendly staff, good location, clean, and cozy. What's not to like 👍

Great place for lunch or dinner buffet! The place has an open buffet which has lots of food options, like moussaka, chicken shawarma, a few types of hummus and lebanese starter dishes (baba ganoush).. They also have desserts like baklava (or chocolate baklava) and a few others.. At the end, they weight your plate and you pay depending on that. I highly recommend the harissa paste! Great quality of food!

Nice atmosphere, ok food, was definitely not blown away. It’s basically a buffet of Middle Eastern dishes, but for a buffet, I prefer Hiltl in terms of quality and variety of food options. Water was given for free which is a plus.

Not too bad. Bufet style. Half vegetarian. I live 30 meters from there so nice goto lunch place. Good alternative to Hilt now and then :)

Lovely food, very kind staff but extremely rude manager. I asked one of the staff for a bag to carry two food containers. The manager, being a few meters away (not the direct person I was talking to, and not in the cash machine) immediately replied: “50 Rappen”.. I don’t know, did it seem that I was not going to pay it…? It must have been that I order it from too good to go app… or I was annoying him with asking for bag. It is sad for the rest of the people working in there.

One of the best restaurants here, Lebanese cuisine and the concept is an open buffet and price is by the weight of the plate. Very clean and healthy options available

I really liked the food, the smell when you enter, the fact that take away is not in plastic. Very good experience. I really missed a hanger to put the coat, especially when you sit at the “bar” like table, it’s inconvenient at busy hours.

Middle Eastern buffet offers terrific food, wide selection and value! Great, casual atmosphere. Busy so come early or reserve ahead for a table.

Good atmosphere and nice interior. Food is amazing and there’s a great variety. A bit pricey though.

It's our new favourite place. We've nearly been there every Friday evening. It's become a bit of a ritual. The staff have consistently impressed us and not just because they recognised us from a previous visit. The buffet has been spot on every time, and the price surprises me still, so there's always a tip. Looking forward to our next visit. Keep it up.

The food there 🍱 is great! Big choice of different oriental dishes, including sweet things 😋 Even if it is booked out you can give it a try as they keep some tables out of reservation system just for random guests popping in.

DO NOT pay by foreign card! Instead of charging in CHF, they charge your card in the foreign coin as a 'service' against a very bad exchange rate. They claim it's not a scam.

Inaccurate allergen information. They write the allergens for each dish on a small tag, and I asked to double check one dish to make sure it was gluten free. It was not, they “forgot to write it”. That doesn’t really inspire confidence as one may wonder on how many dishes they “forgot” it. On top of it, they didn’t even apologize.

The food is tasty, healthy, they care a lot about details and cleaning. I love the service as well, they service staff speak many languages and are very friendly also with children. I loved this place, the position and will recommended to anyone. :)

Typical Swiss interpretation of middle eastern food. I would recommend it to my mom but not necessarily friends visiting.

Excellent service and food! One of its kind gourmet middle eastern buffet! Price is charged by weight of food which ensures no wastage. A fabulous variety of hummus, veggies and desserts. Great ambience and exceptionally kind and attentive staff…. Will be back if I visit Zurich again.

Self service restaurant with warm food, cold food and desserts. Very tasty. You pay based on the weight of what you eat.

Looks pretty cool from the in- and outside. Great location, which is close to the main-station. I liked the design of the coffee cup ☕️

Good buffet, quiet place (we went on 26.11.22 lunch time). Friendly service and acceptable price (2 people 55fr )

Ok food, not the friendliest service but fine. What we didn’t like was that at 22:15 on a Friday, all the lights were turned on, music off, waiter came to charge or bills and we still had half a bottle of wine on the table left to drink… I can’t think of any other place in Zurich that would kick the clients out at ten on a Friday evening. Won’t be coming back for dinner if that’s a common practice in your restaurant.

So delicious, many options, smell really good and you decide how much you can eat :) strongly recomended

Once you learn how the system works (you serve your food, weigh it, then pay at the end along with your drinks) it’s quite enjoyable. Drinks are also good on their own. Might be busy.

We had Yalda on our radar and unplanned tried it out yesterday. Buffet and the place looked really nice and we were excited to finally try the food. What a disappointment! I will not comment the food since some people might like it, but for us it was less authentic than expected. The problem was the bill since we payed for the weight of a very heavy plate together with the food on it- not cool at all! After complaining about the weight listed on the bill (it was over 700g for one spoon of salad, one spoon of some kind of chickpeas dish, one puff-pastry triangle and a spoon of baked pumpkin- unfortunately, we have no photos to share), we were told that even though Yalda also serves meet, it is cheaper than similar (popular) restaurants in Zürich?!?! The thing is, we often eat in these “more expensive” restaurants and we were never ever over charged like this! I don’t remember last time we felt as cheated as yesterday…

The advantage of pay by weight is that you can taste tiny portions of everything, and everything I tried was good. The only negative was that the staff seemed to assume that everyone knows how it works and was a little unhelpful in explaining where to find plates or cutlery, or that pita bread is paid and available at the counter.

We visited on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Nice and warm interior. The food was very fresh and tasty. Friendly and helpful staff. Price for drinks a bit high.
