I had breakfast, lunch and dinner here a few times and the food's quite good and well priced. The wait staff is attentive and polite. I did not give it five stars because the bathroom attendant tries to cheat you out of money to use the toilet.

I sat down at the cafe with friends and waited for the waiter for about10 minutes. The location offered a lovely view of the market, and it was a hot day, so I was really looking forward to enjoying some ice cream. However, to my surprise, they had already run out of ice cream in the middle of the day, which seemed a bit strange. Our group placed our food orders, and as I write this, it's been 20 minutes with no sign of our food yet. The wait is getting quite long. Food was ok. Staff are not polite. They doubled up my order and billed me for it!

Overpriced coffee served by a waiter that rudely ignored us when it was time to pay in order to tend to other guests, who also wanted to pay and who had arrived later, leaving us hanging with money in hand. The view is nice but 22dh for a coffee is daylight robbery.

You pay for the view. Food is okay, nothing compared to L’Mdina just around the corner! Waiters are stressing, you don’t feel very welcome here. But the view…

An absolute joke!!!!! We stopped by for a drink and ordered a juice. The lemons used still had the dirt on them from when they were picked. Unsafe food, rude service and overall very bad quality for food in general.

We found a seat on the upper terrace and were handed menus fairly quickly. Staff then ignored us for almost 30 minutes as we watched other tables being seated and served. We tried to get the attention of the waiter and were told "one minute" (more than once) as he served yet another table that arrived after we did. Service is hit or miss, at best. Maybe the food was good? We weren't given the chance to find out.

One of the most beautiful views from the city. The terrace is amazing, however, the good is nothing special. I would recommend to see the sunset and find another place to eat.

Great view from the top but it’s hard to get the seats with good view at the sun set time. Food not really good. I planned to give them higher score review but I was not happy with the waiter for the last minute. He tried to get more money by calculating the bill manually. But I disagreed with him as I remembered the price of my dishes. As I said “no”, he realised that he couldn’t trick me that way. So he pretended to calculate again and said the extra money is for tip without asking for my idea. He said I MUST pay for tips when eating here. If he asked me for tips when giving me the correct bill, I would give him tips happily.

I’ll keep this one short: don’t return a customers change AFTER you have deducted out your own tip. It’s extremely extremely rude. Let the customer decide if they want to tip you and how much. I won’t be visiting morocco again so needless to say, I won’t be visiting this cafe again either. Thank goodness.

1 star for the view I guess. We ordered and orange juice and ice cream just to sit on the terrace. Prices are typical for options in the Medina. The “Peach Melba” ice cream was edible but nothing special for $5.50. I couldn’t even distinguish the flavor of the the “peach” ice cream Reviews about this place is true, they will try to get you to pay more. I already had the total calculated in my head and when it was time to pay, the waiter tried to charge us an extra $1. Didn’t provide a receipt, just told us the total, so I asked him to bring the menu to double check the price. Then he said he made a “mistake”…awkward.

This place is crazy. So busy and the staff is clearly over it and not very friendly. We went there to have tea while watching the sunset. Usually people go there to see the sunset and Most of them run to the front to take pictures as if they’ve never seen the sun set before. So that was quite a spectacle. The location is great, don’t get me wrong but that’s about it. You can probably find another more mellow spot where you can actually enjoy yourself and the sunset views. Surprisingly the prices were really cheap. I don’t really recommend this place

Food was good enough but service was terrible. I waited 10-15 for a menu then another 15 to take my order. Same thing asking for the bill, in the end I needed to go to the counter. The waiter then told me 105, I paid him 110, then had to ask for my change ("no tip today?"). As it turned out I needed that 5 dirham for the toilet - not pleased a restaurant solely aimed at tourists and charging premium prices you should not be charged to go to the bathroom too!

Awesome place. We got a good spot on the balcony. Service was very nice. Only issue that i found is that they dont accept credit card payments, but they accept euros. I liked there. You can miss this place if you wanna see a nice sunset. 😇😇

Very average food, servers don’t have much time for you and doesn’t have much of a Moroccan feel to it. Decent view from the terrasse though.

Came here for some respite from the midday sun and get some views of the square, not the most inspiring menu and was maybe meant more for the tourist crowd. Juice and a stone-baked pizza went down well as we took in the sights and people watched those below us, friendly service.

Very good coffee (for only 16Dhs), friendly waiter and with the beautiful view of Jemaa El Fnaa. Great experience :)

Great place in the square to watch the sunset and have a mint tea. A perfect view from the rooftop, get there at least 45 mins before sunset as it gets very busy. The drinks are more expensive than other places but you come here for the sunset. Can not comment on the restaurant as we didn’t eat here.

This place has everything to be an iconic cafe in Marrakech: location, terrace, decor, architecture. Unfortunatelly the house management has still a lot of work to do with employees, who are in general rude and unpolite. Maybe it's poor management only and not the fault of employees but the truth is that in general the experience gets really bad just because of a poor service. The food is ok for quick meals.

Really enjoyed this place. I had the Moroccan Tagine and really enjoyed it. We stayed on the 2nd floor terrace and the staff was very nice and the view was very good. Overall enjoyed it. Moderately priced.

I ordered ice tea, and guess what I got! Industrially packed bottle of ice tea. Bathrooms are in terrible conditions, and there is no maintenance or whatsoever to the stairs as well.

Nasty service !!! If I could give 0 star I would. Don’t even try to visit this place. If you’re interested in the view, there is so many neighboring establishments nearby but don’t waste your money here

Keinen Besuch wert!

I recently visited Cafe France in Jemaa El Fna Square in Marrakech, and I was thoroughly impressed. The ambiance is simply delightful, with its charming decor and the lively atmosphere of the square just outside. As for the food and beverages, I must say, they exceeded my expectations. The coffee was rich and flavorful, and the pastries were a delightful treat. What stood out the most for me was the friendly and attentive staff. They made me feel very welcome and added to the overall positive experience. I can't wait to return to Cafe France for another delightful visit.

Brilliant view of the medina. Come here at sunset, it’s magical. Food and drink are great.

Nice terrace with a view over the square. Waiters were friendly but service was a bit slow. Pizza was fine for Maroccan standards. You should just stick to the tajine!

Stopped here a couple of times. Once for tea and once for lunch. Both times were really good. Service was quick and the food was lovely. Great vantage point over looking the market 👍

Mainly came here for the view. We got lucky and was able to sit on the balcony with a good of the square below. There are a few more hotel restaurants around the square that gives you different view/angle of the square. This one was from the side and had the shortest wait so we opted for this one. We got there just as it was getting dark so it was nice to see the square get busier with tourists/locals coming to eat the food market/sales booth opening up. It is a nice view with decent food.

First off, prices are different from the menu they have out front the restaurant. Once you get up stairs and to your table the menu they give you has different prices. Food is expensive and bad. We tried to make the best of it and enjoy the view. When our food came I was disappointed to see my margarita pizza was cheese and burnt dough. I asked our waiter if I was brought the right pizza (as on the menu it said the pizza would have tomatoes and olives), but he gave me a huge attitude. I would have brushed that off, but then he went to the window into the kitchen, and started pointing me out to the chef and another waiter.... then they all proceeded to stare at me and laugh. It was extremely uncomfortable, and we left soon after that. When we were paying the bill, they tried to over charge us, however we caught them and after some debate, they “fixed” our bill. There are much better restaurants in this area with the same view, so stay away from this one

The food was a big disappointment. Lukewarm food and reheated french fries, basic service. There is definitely better to be found somewhere else around. This place has become a tourist trap because of it’s terrace view overlooking the square. the menu reflects not the true Moroccan cuisine but the fast-food cheap variety. I complained about the fries (part of the main grill dish)and to my surprise I received a small replacement plate of fries after finishing our desert(!!) when we were about to leave.

The view at night and sunset is one of the best! BUT the service is lacking, we were greeted nicely enough but then treated curt after making clear that only one of us three wanted to eat while the rest only wanted drinks. Communication was slightly difficult in English which is fine in the Médina but I would expect more in such a tourist focused place. The food was mediocre and not worth the long wait. This place was highly recommend from many people and we came with certain expectations which were definitely not met.

When you stop here, you are paying for the view and nothing else! The servers are incredibly rude, whenever we asked for something they acted like we were inconveniencing them. Everything was very overpriced and the food was okay at best. We came here our first night for a quick snack, some tea, and to escape the busy square for a little while. It worked, but we paid for it and didn't return!

Popular place in Marrakech. But didn't really see what the hype was all about. Maybe because the staff appeared racist or maybe it is just me.

  • 3/5 Lorenzo G. 2 years ago on Google
Very touristy spot, good for a coffee and to admire the square but not for eating. The pizzas are microscopic and the tajine I ate had more bones than meat.

  • 3/5 David Mia L. 2 years ago on Google
A good break after being tired by being scammed... nice view and service is ok. We ordered a grill platter and the meat was ok, it felt a bit raw...so we give it 3 stars.

It's absolutely worth every dirham to have a drink at the rooftop terrace of Cafe de France. One of the best or maybe even the best view over Jemaa El Fna square you can get. You can enjoy watching one of the most vibrant places in Africa. You will love it!

The waiters seem Nice. But we waited very long on our food. I orderd buffalo but i got goat. Also, they have a menu for tourists. The prices on this card are 20 dirhams more then the arabic one. You can’t pay by card. Nice vieuw.

  • 1/5 Jonny G. 1 year ago on Google
Prices are fair but after 10-15min seated I was ignored and I had to ask for a menu even tho the waiter insisted to tell me what to order. Ordered a pizza, came fast but burnt underneath, had to ask for my own knife, fork and napkin. Waited 10min for the bill once came I had to wait another 5-10min to get change. Wasn’t even that busy.

  • 2/5 H H. 1 year ago on Google
Not even a glass of water with your cafe! It's clear they think tourists have money, when you asked to have water with the cafe. The waiter said you want a glass of tap water? Or then you can buy a bottle of water. It's just unbelievable! Don't think I will come back here. All other cafe places in the medina offered water with the cafe.

  • 1/5 Hang X. 1 year ago on Google
They will scam tourists by changing the menu when ordering from the menu at the front which is increased by 30%. This is obviously encouraged and accepted by the owners/institution given they gave a higher priced menu printed out. Expected more from an establishment that looked reputable..

Located on the main square of Jemaa el Fna, Café de France is a Marrakech institution. It’s one of the best known cafés on the square, and with its prominent location it makes for a popular meeting point for locals and tourists alike. So if you ever wanna grab a cofee there ,contact me in my whatsapp number +212629834301

Ok to comme in Maroc and ask for a coffee in the country of tea is strange but... I really don't like when the price of the same coffee at the same table is changing depending of the waiters and to make a coffee who isn't disgusting .isn't so difficult.

  • 4/5 Rc M. 2 years ago on Google
Great place to catch up with people over a coffee, and watch the jemaa activities. Good service and friendly staff.

  • 4/5 Kerry-Ann E. 1 year ago on Google
Great place to have a drink or food to have one of the best views of the Jemaa el fna square. Food is OK, you can get the traditional morrocan foods (tagine, couscous, pasteria etc.). Service can be rather on the slow side and if you get food you may have to pay for the service 'apart').
