You probably already know about the Souks so I'll just share tips... bring cash with small denominations, lean into haggling hard, be discrete with valuables, enjoy getting a little lost whilst keeping your bearings, bring am extra suitcase to check in for your return!

This place is amazing must visit. Make sure you know what you want and how to haggle do not look at things if you're not interested. Is not as bad as everyone reviews it's really good place but do not waste salesman's time if you don't want something that they have. Enjoy shopping

Besides the fact everyone here is trying to scams you, it's a nice place to visit. Nothing has a price you need to "bargain" but please be sure you're paying more than enough.

This market features traditional Moroccan leather, scarves, interior decor items, spices, clothing and much more. Do not forget to bargain :) prices depends on the conscientiousness of the seller and your talent to negotiate! The location is definitely worth a visit, a leisurely walk and of course shopping! A big drawback that spoils the impression is the crazy traffic in the medina. Motorcyclists and cyclists chaotically drive around the market, which makes visiting not so comfortable.

Well .. I guess you either love high pressure sales ...or you hate it .. personally I hate it and don't want it when I'm trying to relax on holiday.. I'll never go back here .. terrible.. you basically are a walking dollar sign for the locals

It's a long shaded Souk in Marrakech, with hundreds of local shops and bazars buying different traditional items that most of them belong to the Moroccan culture. Keep in mind this area is always crowded with tourists and locals.

Visiting the souk is a cultural shock in both good and bad ways. I enjoyed smelling the spices and getting lost in the labyrinth of small alleyways. However, it’s clear that basic animal rights are nonexistent here with cages of livestock waiting to be slaughtered and small reptiles baking under the hot sun.

Great place a lot to see. You need to be careful with watching ur things as there is a lot of different people, but please also enjoy in different views. This place is nothing similar as in Europe so it might be discussting to you if you see some things but you need to be aware that you are at different place in earth For more photos visit _dexography IG

Cool items to sell. Great variety. However, the sellers and shop owners are extremely aggressive and will try to sell you something whatever it takes. Do buy stuff here, but be direct and choose the correct spots and so that you don't get disappointed afterwards.

We bargained hard. It’s possible to cut the first price -50%, sometimes even more. After 21h be careful with “too friendly and helpful” guys, one tried to fool us leading somewhere but not to an open exit gate, asking for money and threatening. Got rid of him entering a restaurant and explaining what happened

Souk starts with poetry and brass/metal shops but as go along it becomes more textile, cloths and at the end mostly leather product such as jacket, hand back, shoes and sandals. It is a great place fir shopping but remember to pay 1/10 of the price they ask fir and not more as you can always buy them cheaper if you shop around with a fair price as not all the shops selling expensively.

Good quality market with local stuff/history Don't pay the asking price, plenty of negotiation opportunities

Great place to potter around and see the items. Noisy and loud, be prepared for the crowds.

A real maze! It has everything! At first it is scary and intimidating, but soon you get the hang of it. It is undoubtedly authentic! It's worth the visit but go with time, so you can appreciate everything at ease. Beware of the motorbikes that pass through the narrow streets!!

Brimming with life and a wild selection of souvenirs from hidden ancient artifacts to modern factory made(sold in the same shops). If you like a lot of people then Marrakesh, Souk Semmarine is for you. But if you prefer calmer, less people and more authentic then the wonders of the Ancient Medina, in Tangier is for you(my personal favourite).

Souk Semmarine was a real experience! The bustling market vibes were amazing, filled with colorful stalls and delicious smells. I got lost in the labyrinth of shops, finding unique treasures. Although the prices can be a bit higher, the atmosphere and variety make it totally worth it.

Don't believe all the horror stories about getting hassled everywhere you do, I mean we did get approached as soon as we got out of the taxi but that only lasted about 59m before he got bored of me saying no thank you. The market is a little maze. Download some offline Google maps and a compass before you go in and you will be fine. Learn to haggle before you go in and grab yourself a good deal. The colours and smells are amazing but be aware of passing mopeds and donkeys pulling carts as you go around. A lot of the taxis only seat 3 passengers and there are loads of them. If there is 4 of you then you will have to flag one down on the road. Well worth a visit but if you are a young blond woman be prepared for more attention than a middle aged bald guy like me !!! (Check out Jaston Statham in the photo above us with the shop owner!!!)

So many little shops with jewellery and clothes etc. A bit chaotic at busy times but fun to walk and haggle. They definitely try and mug you off though. Some places were selling anklets for 10 dirhum but someone else was asking for 100, so you have to have an idea of what you're willing to pay or you'll just end up paying loads

Unless you wanna buy carpets or copper goods consider it just an artisan gallery as everything else is available at the airport and at good prices without endless bargaining

  • 5/5 Chris N. 9 months ago on Google
Loved it. Wander for hours and make deals on stuff you want to buy. Pillow cases.

  • 5/5 Khaled A. 7 months ago on Google
Amazing Souk or market A maze of shops with everything you need People and shop owners are very helpful and friendly but they will try to over charge you so you have to bargain and bargain hard The market contains traditional Moroccan leather, scarves, interior decor items, spices, clothing, carpets and original hand made wooden furniture. You have to visit and have a walk even if you don't intend to buy Parking is not available Special needs wheelchair parking is not available Special needs wheelchair entrance is available The market is wheelchair accessible

  • 4/5 Howard C. 5 months ago on Google
Great if you enjoy the hustle and bustle of the marketplace, but far too much of the same old same old. Narrow lanes to wander through but look out for the bikes and motorcycles weaving their way around.

  • 5/5 Shweta P. 4 months ago on Google
Gorgeous market. People are super helpful. And you will be in awe and will wanna buy almost everything available there. The locals are super generous and you will get the full local Marrakesh vibe in the market! Don't forget to hydrate yourself with fresh fruit juices in the heat!

Quieter pre 2pm, so great for young families then or those who don't like loud noises. When night falls, the square comes alive with performances. Loud noises, bright lights. Very lively environment.

Seriously so much better than a shopping mall. Variety times 100. Anything, literally anything, this world calls a human need is sated here. Just ask. But don't ask too loud, you'll be drowned in vendors. Free enterprise, not on steroids...on crystal heroin. Unadulterated shopping. A lot of the same things, over and over so you can price compare easily, haggle, negotiate, complain, whine, and act cheated. Part of the process. But wow the supply is dazzling, gold, silver, leather, haberdashery, trinkets (i.e., useless stuff you'll regret), sweets, juice, foods...on and on. Even WCs are signed and sold like a product. Every and any human need. Photos usually ok but be careful of small signs, especially artists and furniture shops. They don't like photos. Also beware of carts, motorbikes, running you down, knocking you over. No, they won't steal you stuff, no pickpockets (if you drop a coin, somebody will pick it up and give it back to you) but they'll knock you out if step in the way. You're the guest, they live here. They're trying to make a living out of it. Slowly converting streets of home into streets of shops. The souk like swamp, expanding inexorably into peoples houses. Inflation has bit here as everywhere. When hassled, just smile and wave and avoid eye contact. Whatever you do, don't show interest unless you have interest. No fisherman appreciates a fish tugging, ripping his bait and swimming away. Easily spend 2hours here. You'll be exhausted (especially in hot and crowded). Then hit a coffee shop and sit, watch it all. Take it all in. You won't forget it.

The architecture of the place is very interesting. The atmosphere is different from what most people are used to. Be smart, negotiate and keep your eyes open without worrying too much. There's no need to be paranoid, it is a very safe place. Take offline maps with you so that you won't be asked money for directions. Enjoy!

Market place... You will find everything traditional out there. But be aware of shopkeepers. They would like to sell things with three or four times price

  • 5/5 Mohamed C. 2 years ago on Google

Really fun and so interesting, but also crowded and touristy. I've heard you can have a similar experience in Fez without all the people trying to force you to buy stuff.

  • 5/5 Estefania L. 2 years ago on Google
Oh yes! Bring it on! The food, the smells, the bargains, the laughter and conversation. I really enjoyed my time in the Souk.

Whenever you for somewhere, always try and experience the truly local cuisine, like the residents of the town or city do it. That's what I did on a recent trip to Marrakech... This dish, called Tanjia (not sure of the spelling) was AMAZING!! Full of flavour and oh so tasty...... 💯

This souk as any other souk in Marrakech is a must do when you visit the city. Best in the evening when the streets are less busy and most importantly when there are less motorcycles around.. Indeed the amount of motorcycles passing by in the narrow street and almost touching you can be quite stressful for some. If the city would ban motorcycles in the souk (not that it's the best thing to do for local) it would be a much better experience

  • 4/5 Steven L. 2 years ago on Google
A lot of cool stuff around. If you know how to bargain, you can get a good price. Really did not like the fact that mopeds are all over the place and you cannot relax if you have a small kid. (Constantly worried so he doesn't get ran over)

  • 5/5 K M. 2 years ago on Google
Lots of action, color, and salespeople make it really lively!

  • 4/5 rania 2 years ago on Google
Its a good souk for all that you might need ( food, traditional items etc) the only reason I gave 4 and not 5 stars because we had to refuse alot of food offers and people trying to force you into buying things or eating at their place.

Great experience to feel the Morocco tastes from the first step - the market! Try to taste, small, ask and be part! Seat with local for tea! Moroccan people are extremely friendly
