Playa Norte Celestún
Tourist attraction
😐 I would say the beach is not ideal for swimming... quite ruff, and windy when we came. Water is murky.
However there are a few solid restaurants along the beach, and a few more local ones closer to the Centro that have fried fish at around 130 pesos

👍 Surprisingly solid! The fish ceviche was excellent! Tortilla chips freshly fried! We also had some fried plantains and the Jaiba a la mexicana. The setting is lovely!

JALTUN PARQUE ECOTURISTICO

Hotel
😐 This place has potential to be awesome, but it’s still new and not really worth the price of entry based on its current condition.
300 pesos for access to the day club, includes a towel (you only get one) and they say beach front...but they haven’t levelled off the sand yet so it’s on a huge inclin...

La Palapa Restaurante & Snack Bar
Seafood restaurant
🫤 This is an expensive seaside restaurant, but the food we ordered was mostly tasty. They also had real espresso. In the end came the bill, and the waitress started negotiating the tip with us. He would claim 10% were the norm. As we left around 6% he wouldn’t take it. So we took all the tip and left....

Hotel Beach Don Gonzalo
Hotel
👍👍 This is the most modern hostel in this town based on my 4-day stay in Celestun. I think its the best hotel in town.
I moved here after staying 2 days in an AirBnB few blocks away and this was like moving to a 5-stay hotel. Most importantly: everyone who works here has been extremely helpful, answer...

😠 No recommendation, they absolutely did not deliver what was ordered. We went there tonight with four friends to eat. My friend is very allergic to milk and products containing milk (lactose intolerant). We asked at the entrance if it was possible to eat something there. It was they said. We asked wh...

Faro El Palmar
Historical landmark
👍👍 While the lighthouse was closed off the 52 minute drive from Celestún (pretty much a one way dirt road most of the way) was beyond worth it.
The pictures don’t do it justice. Not a single person for miles and you could just walk on what seems to be a virgin beach for miles.
The seashells were ama...

Chivirico

👍👍 Looks a little sketchy from the outside but not to be missed. We were here for three weeks and tried as many restaurants in town as we could; this place tied with La Playitas as our favorites. Best margaritas (order them "rocas" not blended...duh) great ceviche, crab claws (seriously OMG!), octopu...
