👍 this is the largest buddhist monastery in Myanmar which was built in 1914. Another name for this monastery is "Mahagandayon Monastery". Best time is to go before 10.30am to watch the solemn ritual.

👍👍 Interesting place to visit. Some of the buildings look great and others could use a coat of paint, which they appear to be in the process of doing. Definitely check out the view from the top of the watch tower. It costs 10000 kyat to get into the complex.

😐 A temple with large spacious grounds, with vehicles driving in too. Difficult to work out what's where as a tourist and not easy to get decent photos. Many people wandering around too. Note that shoes and socks must be taken off at the entrance gate - only barefoot around in the area.

😐 Visited there to traditional food festival at night. The water is clean and toilets and changing rooms are well-equipped with latest mod cons. There is a big stone slab to apply thanaka at the entrance. I will try to swim next time. Worthy to visit there.

👍👍 Although I've been staying in Mandalay for 20 years, I got there just today. We bypassed this sacred building when we go to Mandalay hill. The Buddha image represent the last moment of life.
