It is approximately ten minutes off the path to winter hill but well worth the diversion. It is so calm and peaceful- indeed I on...

Poppywood Alpacas
Tourist attraction
👍👍 The Alpacas’ are cared for so much by the family business. Our experience began with a briefing on how to handle the Alpacas’, before being paired and walking a wonderful countryside route through woodland paths. We were also given a little food for them and I assure you they eat from your hand palm...

👍👍 Not much to see in summer due to the amount of water in the stream, but can be quite spectacular during a heavy storm. Historically the reservoir keepers used to throw lime in to the falls to lower the acidity of the reservoir below. (see the stone lime house)

Ponden Kirk & Fairy Cave
Historical landmark
👍👍 Don't do what I did and scramble up the sheer brambly cliff face. There's a path to the top that you can find if you take the steep stairs back up the brook towards the moor. The path is on your right from that direction and is much, much easier and takes your right to the fairy cave. Make sure you'...

Barrow Bridge Chimney
Historical landmark
👍👍 A much loved local landmark. "One that Fred Dibnah missed", although he did a lot of restoration work here. An interesting brick flue for the chimney still exists below ground. Home to Peregrine's when they're raising young. A good place to view is from nearby Moss Bank Park.
