Boscawen-un Stone Circle

👍👍 Google maps takes you to the wrong location. Follow the A30 further along and you see a small laybye with a proper gate and path to the stones. A 10 min walk from the A30

Vulcan XM655
Airplane
👍👍 The team of volunteers have done a fantastic job restoring and maintaining the Vulcan in running order. One of only 3 runnable Vulcans it's a real privilege to be able to get up close to this iconic aircraft. Well worth a visit and a nice little cafe to grab a cuppa.

St Mary's Chapel, Lead
Anglican church
👍👍 This church may be tiny but it's very old and very moody! There is a real feeling of age and history here and it's well worth a look. On a sunny day the photos are great! (See my pics below).

Birdswood Canal Boat
Boat tour agency
👍👍 We had a wonderful two hours on the Birdswood cruising along the Cromford Canal. The commentary was most informative and the crew were both very friendly and extremely helpful. It was great getting close to the wildlife and learning about this very historic location and the lives of the people who l...

Whiteford Lighthouse
Historical place
👍👍 Parking in Cwm Ivy, free but an honesty box which I always appreciate and use, better than paying extortionate prices. Following the Wales Coast Path, I followed it along the west side of Whiteford Burrows and then back along the beach. It'll take over an hour whichever way. The lighthouse can be wa...

Ralston Cairn
Historical place
👍👍 Beautiful views and a peaceful location. You can park 10 minutes from it on road. There is only enough room for one car as the road has partially collapsed. There are a couple of YouTube videos online with decent directions to the cairn as it's easy to miss.

Hampden House
Wedding venue
👍 Grade 1 listed building, surrounded by some beautiful countryside. As well as being a stately home, it has been a girl's school and was once owned by Hammer House Studios to film their Hammer House of Horror series in. It is now a very attractive wedding venue but unfortunately not open to the gener...

Little Cumbrae Castle
Castle
👍👍 Lovely castle in a pretty good state of repair. It's not dissimilar to Portencross Castle across from it on the mainland. Remember to go downstairs as well as up, as you enter on the first floor. Views from the roof are stunning, and you'll want to have your camera with you. One word of warning. The...

Goward Dolmen Chambered Grave
Historical place
👍👍 Tricky to get to if you aren't familiar with the area. The road to the site is rough and awkward - take your time. Well worth it when you are there though. A very impressive feat of engineering however it was managed and an atmospheric site on a good day. We visited on a freezing February day with c...
