I live closeby for a year, but never walked in. It's my first encounter of Mexician food. I love it! The exotic decoration, interesting ways of cooking but devilishly delicious. My pork belly tace was not the crispy type expected, but the cubes and sides make a little feast. I love the fried chicken, albeit not at my level of hotness. The guacamole and totopus are equally lovely. The ambulance is kid-, family- and group- friendly, Almost full at 1pm Sunday. Waiters are always busy, Plenty of parking diagonally across. Since it is a cushioned cultural shock, I google why Mexicans like skulls and skeletons, and like the answer: "they are gentle reminders that life is temporary, and death is certain."

This Mexico location is awesome and I love the fit out which gives it a really cool feel. The menu is great with a variety of options and it’s really reasonably priced. Came here few times with friends and work colleagues for lunch over the past few years. Obviously few changes under the red traffic light system. Felt safe as staff followed all the rules. I asked for the vaccine pass. Staffs were on masks all the time. On those notes, place was a bit quiet and staffs kept asking whether they could take our cups and empty plates away....

Food was delicious and came out timely. The fried chicken is always crispy and nicely seasoned definitely recommend.

Good food and service. Had the pork belly taco. Quite tasty. Will come back and try the prawn taco.

We attended a margarita master class here with a big team. The class was very entertaining and well organized. Cocktails and finger food were great woth a nice variety.

Excellent food. The kitchen staff worked really hard and seemed to have things under control. One of the staff members, a young lady, was very friendly and nice. I assumed they were shortstaffed and under stress, but it was a bit frustrating to see someone pass in front of our food 6 or 7 times as it was waiting in the pass. After 10 minutes, I got up and asked the chef if it was ours and, when she confirmed, I picked it up. Nothing to blame to the kitchen staff, who seemed desperate for someone to take the food out. The food is great so I hope it was just a bad day and we get it better next time.

Dined here this afternoon for lunch with my sister and boyfriend. The wait staff recommended the degustation plate which was simply out of this world! The meal was delicious! The venue is very comfortable. Nice staff including the guy from the Philippines. He made our experience even more merrier. We would definitely return! Great work!

My mate and I arrived to lunch hungry which was perfect for Mexico! The highlight was the pork belly taco followed by the lamb quesadilla. I enjoyed everything I ate and will return.

Went there as a large group and they catered for us very well. Got the group option with one taco flavour you could choose. The pork belly taco was actually really good but was slightly disappointed when you only get one. However I was not disappointed when more side dishes were bought up and we got to try a very wide range of their menu. Are very well and was a happy gal

Not a fan of the food. The falafel taco was yum but the plant based chicken was not good as it was drenched in really sweet BBQ sauce. A real shame you couldn't taste anything else. Atmosphere was nice and big space for a large group

On visiting Mexico for dinner during midweek, I was impressed with the well themed atmosphere of the restaurant. It took at least 10 minutes to asked for drinks or food. Staff are unprofessional dressed. The braised leak quesadillsa missed the mark as a vegan option and we didn't finish it. The chicken quesadillsa was also fairly bland. Others on my table enjoyed their food however. We all enjoyed the churos but thought the portion sizes were overall quite small. For example chips and guacamole is $16. Overall we found our experience average.

I always have a great experience dining at Mexico Ellerslie. The food is wonderful, staff are always lovely. We recently hosted our staff Christmas Party there and our 70+ guests had a wonderful time and were well very looked-after. Those with gluten-free or vegetarian restrictions were catered for with ease too. Highly recommended and thank you!

What on earth happened to this place? Mexico Ellerslie used to be my favourite one! “Change of menu” used to be great, changed it for every season but the quality was always perfection. Today we got empty taco shells and dry fried chicken. When I asked “where’s the filling, these look tragic” the server said “the expensive tacos are bigger now but the $9 are small”. Perfect I’ll go to Taco Medic from now on where the price is great and the quality matches. Such a shame they are taking the cheap route when they actually did have a great thing going for them!

The stuff is amazing, the food is tasty and presentation is top notch for me, the drinks....oh my god, we had something new and something old, sweet seduction - nice sweetness ,strong banana flavour ; mojito - not sweet all, fresh mint,lemon instead of lime (I'm fine with that) ; the red drink ( i dont remember the exact name for it) ,something i never tried before, and had rosemary in it and plum, very interesting flavour - the bartender made them all strong and we enjoyed it very much! The food tasted like it was made with love. You can taste that the chef put little bit of his soul into food and that's why I definitely will come back.

I love this place, hands down favorite Mexican restaurant in Auckland. I have only had one concern, when they get busy they seems to turn off the online order option and it won't even display why can't you order online. Obviously since they are busy its hard to get them on phone to order as well. So you will then have to go to the restaurant, place the order and wait for 20 mins. Would have been better to at least display on the website to say we are not taking online order currently or something.

Top notch food, service and music Playlist 🎶 😁. Margaritas are also amazing, especially the mango and passion fruit flavoured one. I suggest you try them all over multiple visits. The plate sizes were small, but in this instance they were plenty enough for the two of us. Far better experience than what I've previously had at their flagship store in britomart. Overall, such a pleasant experience, and the staff here at Ellerslie are friendly, incredibly quick and efficient. Definitely suggest a visit or three! Great for date nights with ambient light and music, or a great group catch up as they have the space/tables to accommodate usually.

We are totally addicted to the Mexican Flat Bread. We ordered it once as an extra item in a bigger order expecting it to just be a bit of a filler because the description sounds quite plain. Unexpectedly it’s absolutely delicious, and we have since ordered it multiple times on its own, sometimes several at once. I don’t know quite what makes it so divine - the pancake base, or the two kinds of cheese, the chilli, or I’m sure there’s some sort of spiced sauce on there too - whatever it is, its now my happy place. Please never stop offering these, they’re amazing!
