What if we told you that this gorgeous intimate retreat was a former prison in the centre of Istanbul's old town.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This neo-classic building wraps around a landscaped, courtyard garden – which was formerly the prisoners’ exercise yard, happens to be one of the city’s most impressive historical monuments and most recently named 2018 “Gold List – Best Hotels in the World” by Conde Nast Traveler.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Four Seasons did not disappoint with this property. Set in a former jailhouse, elegance and sophistication exude throughout. The rooms are fantastic, though most lacking exceptional views due to the it's short stature. The location was excellent, near amazing sights, shops, and some restaurants. One exceptional service at this Four Seasons, was the breakfast everyday. What an amazing selection of offerings! Fresh, delicious, inventive.. The service at breakfast, really helped start every morning off on the most positive and refreshingly pleasant way possible. If ever at a loss on where to stay in Istanbul, you won't regret the Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul At Sultanahmet.

The rooms are exceptional. The staff were helpful, and the service was perfect. Dinner had some great choices, but the breakfast was my favorite. Location was in the heart of an urban area with beautiful sights all around. Overall, this hotel is one of the nicest I've been to in a long time. Well done to the staff and management crew.

I booked a superior room. The problem is that there are many different floor plans for superior rooms, however, the website only shows one very nice picture. When I arrived, it was a huge disappointment to me , the room is well below my expectations, even the staff was nice enough to let me change to a different room, it still didn't meet my expectations. I would suggest adding different pictures of the room and maybe different prices so customers know exactly what they will get. Other than this, the location is great and the staff are very helpful.

Location is amazing however the experience was spoilt as this hotel hosts parties and functions which got extremely noisy. The money you pay it isn't worth having a sleepless night. At one point I even got asked by a staff member where I am going when exploring the beautiful garden which was also being used by party members.

stopped off for a refreshment in the Four Seasons bar (after a long sightseeing day) . Had some beers and snacks in the bar. The service was very good and the staff very welcoming and friendly. The hotel location is so central beside the Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosques. Would recommend hotel to all visitors.

We had a great 3 days here. First class treatment with impeccable service. Conveniently located by the Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque. Tram was a short walk and ancient Turkish baths in the area.

This hotel is really fantastic especially after renovation! So, peaceful and luxury atmosphere there within historical places surrounding it. Chef Özgür thank you for amazing dishes, lovely taste and very helpful staff as well. I've enjoyed this special day today! 😇

This hotel was amazing. The staff is impeccable, they learn your name and go well above and beyond to make your stay amazing. The hotel itself is situated within 5 minutes from the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque, and the view from the roof is insane. The bartender here is phenomenal, they have a great list of cocktails but I suggest telling him what you like and letting him make a cocktail for you - seriously he made a "spicy" cocktail for me with passion fruit and pepper infused rum that was the best cocktail I've ever had in my life. The food here is great too, if you have a chance do the brunch or the wine and cheese tasting!

Another fantastic four seasons property. I cannot emphasis how magical this building is (although kinda tight). We got rooms in the roof with balconies carved into them, and saw the fireworks across the city on New Years. The service was wonderful and the breakfast above average. They even leave an easel in the room with paper and colored pencils that was reloaded everyday!

Excellently positioned, excellent service. As ever, I can only compare against the belmont, which are hard to compare to. Did not stay, just drinks. The bar staff was excellent, the wine selection delightful. Bar food - pide and fried artichoke - highly recommended. Likely the rooms are excellent but this one cannot tell you. Will return.

Nice rooftop terrace with an excellent view of the Hagia Sophia, but unfortunately it is a cocktail bar. Would have been nice if it were more kid friendly.

One of the best experience that I had. The food is great (Steamed Perch/Bass) and their signature dessert is even greater. But, what blew me away was their quality of service. If you can, reserve the blue room.

We stayed at the Four Seasons Sultanahmet for two nights and had a wonderful experience . All of the staff made us feel comfortable and well taken care of . We are especially grateful for the amazing concierge who directed us to a wonderful restaurant which we loved so much, we ate dinner there both nights ! My husband went to the barber on site who was hands down amazing at his job and we would highly recommend anyone see him who is in need of an amazing beard trim. We loved our stay and look forward to returning to a warm and welcoming environment .

This is a super beautiful hotel with amazing staff. I honestly don’t like staying in old city so much cz it’s crowded and touristic. But this hotel changed my experience in old city dramatically. Staff is also super efficient! Their garden and inside restaurants are also good. May be one of the best and safest kitchens in old town

A gem in the middle of old city. As soon as you enter from the door, you are transferred to another era. Such beautiful architecture and well maintained grounds. The staff is very polite and hotel is pretty quiet. The location could not be better for those who want to see everything old city can offer. Steps away from Aya Sophia and Sultanahmet and a short walk from Grand Bazaar. The food is amazing as well. A compete Turkish hospitality is on display. This is at the top of my list of hotels to recommend to my friends visiting Istanbul for the first time. Each one of them leave with the hopes to come back again

Service went above and beyond my expectations. The location is stunning and the rooms are elegant and spacious. The restaurant has some of the best food/wine in the city. They helped us book all our experiences, and had excellent restaurant, music, experience suggestions in the city for someone that wants something off the beaten path.

Nice outdoor seating with a refreshing garden. We ordered tea with 2 kinds of lahmacun, the one with cheese was so good.

Location was very nice and some staffs who worked securities and the restaurant were very friendly. I shouldn’t expected a lot. My friends who visited a few years ago were all recommended as the best. Therefore, I expected a lot for the stay. The room: the bed linen sheets was not cleaned. The reception staffs didn’t provide a prompt information.

Great experience. Close to all historic places and Edith super friendly staff. Rooms are what you would expect of a historic building.

We did not stay there but went for breakfast a couple of times. The staff remembered our names and what we had ordered! The view from the roof top at night was one of the highlights of our stay - cool breezes and warm nights with a view up close of the Hagia Sophia.

This is a luxurious property with a lot of history, also fairly small and intimate for being a five star hotel in the center of Istanbul’s old town. Felt almost like a boutique hotel. I stayed here over New Year’s Eve and for a special occasion, and the service could not have been better. Lives up to the name and reputation

Very nice hotel with nicely appointed rooms. Excellent breakfast and attention to detail. The staff is warm and friendly. The garden is the courtyard is beautiful and the open bar terrace is wonderful for a night cap drink. The only negative is basic internet is a tad slow.

Beautiful 5 star hotel in a wonderful location near Blue Mosque. We went to the roof-top lounge where we could enjoy the old city view of Istanbul. The sunset was very romantic. Their breakfast buffet was fabulous too. I heard that this building used to be a jail in old time. The staff speak good English.

I visited this hotel for a special occasion. From our arrival, the staff were extremely friendly and they made us feel very welcomed. They were able to make our stay extra special and memorable. The staff accommodated for all of our needs and went beyond what I expected. The hotel itself was excellent. The location was close to many of the historical locations in Istanbul and it's only a 5 min walk to the tram station. The rooms were lovely and the bed was very comfortable. We only tried their restaurant for breakfast; the food was delicious, specially the traditional Turkish pastry. I would highly recommend this hotel and I would certainly return there in the future.

Fantastic hotel with an excellent location and superb staff. Here's the setup; my wife and I had a quick overnight layover in Istanbul on our way to Maldives. The question was "is it worth it to spend the night at the Four Seasons?". It's always great to stay at a FS hotel/resort and we're fans of their properties around the world. But, there are many choices in this city and not to mention that Turkish Airlines even offers free lodging for those with long layovers. The idea was that FS people and service is going to make this trip turnaround worthwhile. Did that idea come to fruition? Absolutely it did and it was worth the expense to only briefly stay at this hotel. The initial idea got put to the test when our luggage was lost and we arrived in Istanbul with only the clothes on our back after many hours of flying overseas. The staff could not have been any better, even for FS standards. They took charge of the situation, completely swept us off our feet to just relax, get freshened up, and use the few hours we had to venture out and enjoy the sights and later dinner while they took care of following up with the airline on the luggage situation. They also took charge on tracking down my wife's very specific needs for hair care/toiletries and getting them placed in our room. When an around the world trip started off on the wrong foot with lost luggage and stress, the Four Seasons at Sultanahmet treated us exceptionally and made us feel well taken care of and special. Special thanks to Seyda, an absolutely lovely woman and Guest Experience Agent extraordinaire. The hotel is stunning, immaculately clean and well decorated, and located in a bustling and historic location. The picture of the mosque was just out from our room's window. The lady at the sweet shop in the lobby was also wonderful and they have some of the best chocolates, truffles, desserts, and Turkish delicacies that we've ever tasted. Dinner was also excellent quality and this whole impression left us with the feeling that this is one of the best service experiences and lovely hotels we've visited anywhere in the world. Thank you again for a wonderful evening and quick visit and there's no doubt we'll stay here on our next trip to Istanbul. Until next time, çok teşekkürler!

Flawless ‘walk to’ location As the story goes, this hotel was once a prison-the one that was the inspiration for the movie Midnight Express. It’s a small, boutique hotel that delivers on the Four Seasons brand. The bedside fig presentation was a nice hyperlocal touch.

We stayed here in 2014 for my first birthday the location was great was near the blue mosque and the Sofia Hagua the rooms were nice they have a beautiful beautiful rooftop lounge and bar and they had a courtyard with dining so you left the hustle and bustle of the city and inside, is a oasis with a peaceful courtyard with a restaurant and great service my dad is telling me this LOL

Both Four Seasons Hotels in Istanbul are great places to stay in this beautiful city! Tastefully decorated and service is above and beyond! The hospitality is what makes me return. The staff are very welcoming and kind, all of them are very friendly, especially the blonde male receptionist, he was outstanding and genuine in greeting his hotel guests! Love this hotel!!!

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. For our first visit, and the desire to be close to walk and tour the historical parts of the city, this hotel was perfect. It's easy to walk right outside in old town and shop and eat at one of the numerous hotels. It's also just across the street from the Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque and has 3 very good Turkish Baths nearby. We were welcomed wonderfully, into a beautiful room, with tons of treats and specialty items for our honeymoon including chocolates, snacks, flowers, a photo from our wedding in a frame, and even Honeymoon pillowcases. The staff were wonderful as always and the central private courtyard with the open-air restaurant is where dinner and breakfast as served. It's a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the crowds at the Hagia Sofia so nearby. We asked staff if they could arrange to ship some larger items home for us before we boarded a 10-day cruise from Istanbul to Italy and they happily and easily accommodated us. We stayed just a few weeks after an extensive two-year renovation was completed so it was a bit disappointing that the baths, rooftop, and other things were still not open - and the elevators didn't work on one side half the time, but otherwise it was perfect in every way. Their full breakfast menu is wonderful and might be the best hotel breakfast I've ever had.

Don’t. Goooo Worst experience ever in this hotel I came with my family to enjoy a dinner of you but I was surprised with a very bad attitude from the workers they told us to leave because we weren’t staying at the hotel I told them that we will pay for what we buy but they refuse to take us as a guest I’m very upset and I will never come back to this place again , I don’t think he will care about my opinion as they don’t care about other opinion and I recommend not going there doesn’t matter the view it’s matter that they treat me good and with a smile but they actually did the opposite bad and with arrogant , wish I could put less than a star for them 👎👎👎👎👎👎

We stayed with our 2 adult children , we had 2 rooms. Excellent renovated rooms. The history of the building is an old jail and the courtyard is magnificent . Mehmet Tung was is the front desk manager and made sure we felt comfortable, welcome and addressed any issues on a newly renovated hotel. The entire staff was helpful, friendly , and quick to assist or help. The breakfast was outstanding with the waiter wanting us to have a full Turkish breakfast. I love this hotel with the best new beds in a great historic area. Love this hotel.

The four seasons has never let me down. The staff is always on point. Smiling & offering a hand & advice every single time. Whether in Turkey or Egypt, the four seasons always makes you feel like at home. Our dogs were welcomed with open arms & every staff offer additional to do for our pets. Truly amazing. The location is beautiful & the rooms as comfortable as a cloud. The roof top has a beautiful view to Haia Sophia & breakfast room was extraordinary. Again, you will never go wrong with the Four seasons!
