Worth visiting after your tour of El Jam amphitheater Its about 15 minutes walk from there and already included in the 10 D ticket. Many large paintings on the walls and floors which are actually made by colourful mosaics rather than paint. There are also many statues ( mostly headless) as well as a large archaeological site at the back know as roman houses. Toilets on site and easy street parking.

Beautiful little museum with an incredible mosaic collection. Never seen such a mosaic collection anywhere, our guide said they have so many mosaics in Tunisia that every town has a collection like this. Not sure if that is true but this is impressive and entry fee is next to nothing (about 3 euro at the time of writing). Highly recommended if you are interested in Roman era history.

Well worth a visit if you are in the local area. For 12 Dinar (very reasonable) combine your ticket and get entry fee to the museum AND the amphitheatre which is about a 15 minute walk away. Some very lovely mosaics and artwork on display, and a Roman Villa. There is nothing hi tech (no info screens, hand held voice guides) but it is genuine, informative and a great way to learn the history of the Romani influence on the local area. It does get the odd Coach trip but generally it is quite and well worth an hour or two of your time.

The El Djem museum offers a captivating journey through time. For enthusiasts of Roman-era relics, it's a must-visit. Its mosaics are elegantly showcased, transporting you to the majestic architecture of the Roman second century. The museum features both enclosed and open sections, allowing visitors to stroll through the ancient stone foundations of what appears to have been a grand aristocratic residence.

Super impressive site and a museum. It is so cool that the entry fee includes the Colosseum and the Museum. The amount of extraordinary mosaic in this small place exceeds, both in quality and quantity, some major European museums. Really a treasure!

One of the most authentic archaeological experiences I've seen. It's not high tech and the immersivity comes from the fact that the building itself and the grounds go back millennia. The collection of mosaics and artefacts is modest yet interesting and perfect for a 30-60 minutes visit.

Amazingly preserved Roman mosaics dating from 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. As good as the Bardot museum in Tunis. If you're interested in such things you'll take an hour or more to look around, not the 15 minutes indicated by some reviewers. It only takes ten minutes to walk here from the collosaeum in the centre of town.

I went to El Jem after spending half a day at the Bardo in Tunis. And I have to say that the Museum here is as equally impressive as the national museum. It is much smaller but has outstanding mosaics. Many devoted to images of the sea but also some great impressions of the gruesome activities in the nearby Ampitheatre. The museum is a short 5 to 10 minute walk turning right after you leave the Ampitheatre, and the price is included on the same ticket. Well worth a visit.

A fascinating little museum with gorgeous mosaics, interesting artifacts, and a handful of ancient homes. The real treasure here, however, was the gentleman curator who gave me a tour of the place! He had a wealth of knowledge, was eager to converse, and really made each piece come to life. Really a must-see is you’re at the amphitheater anyway.

If you are interested in Roman antiquities, which is in all honesty the only reason why any discerning individual would venture to El Jem, then the El Jem Museum is one of two points of interest (the other being the coliseum) one must see. El Jem was called Thysdrus in Roman times and reached the height of its importance in the second and third centuries AD. The museum stands next to the ruins of an eloborate Roman building complex from which a great many artifacts have been excavated. While there are small handheld articles and mostly incomplete sculptures (heads missing) in the collection, the crown jewels of the collection are a truly astonishing variety, quality and scale of mosaics depicting deities, animals, people and decorative designs. They are breathtakingly beautiful with excellent detail, some with amazingly small mosaic tiles The 12 Dinar (~4 USD) ticket to the Museum also covers entry to the Coliseum and you can easily walk between the two.

(Translated by Google) In the picturesque town of Sidi Bou Said on the Mediterranean near Tunis and Carthage is the original private museum Dar el Annabi. The house was built in the eighteenth century and expanded in the twentieth century - as the summer residence of Taiba El Annabi. Tourists have the opportunity to see the private rooms of a typical Arab family, i.e. a patio, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, study, living room, guest rooms and a sunny roof terrace with a beautiful view of the sea. We will also, here, admire the fabulously rich wedding dresses and the ritual preparation of Tunisian girls for marriage. The residence is as fairytale and original as the town of Sidi Bou Said itself, full of expensive palaces and beautiful villas. Turyści mają tu okazję zobaczyć prywatne pomieszczenia typowej arabskiej rodziny czyli patio, kuchnię, sypialnię, łazienkę, gabinet, salon, pokoje gościnne oraz słoneczny taras na dachu, z pięknym widokiem na morze. Będziemy też, tu podziwiać bajecznie bogate suknie ślubne i rytuał przygotowań tunezyjskie dziewczyny do zaślubin. With its unique mosaics can say it is the second big after Bardo Museum from Tunis. You have an outside museum as well wich is showing you a huge house from the roman era.

Great place, definitely worth to visit, especially for history geeks. It'd take minimum 30 min to browse. Really rare stuff. If only the surroundings were clearer.

A fabulously preserved collection of mosaics and statues & other smaller pottery items at this site. Outside, are many more still in situ within the grounds of the many dwellings which you are free to wander around. I could almost feel the history watching me! This is another great site to visit on your trip to Tunisia. If you like this collection, try the Sousse Archaeological Museum too.

Don’t miss this museum, just 5 minutes walking from awesome El-Jem Roman amphitheatre. Now that the BARDO is indefinitely closed, it has one of the best collections of mosaics of Tunis along with Sousse archeological museum. There are truly half a dozen of total masterpieces along with endless examples and a backyard with ruins of Roman houses.

A wonderful amphitheater alone during the day very hot take a sure hat, there is a souvenir magazine at the entrance the prices are very affordable, there is also a place that sells water. The security is very nice. Notice when climbing the stairs very steep. It has a great view. There are lots of small souvenir shops restaurants. Prices are very affordable. Wish you a nice holiday.

Beautiful museum with incredible mosaics. It was an excellent visit. I loved the one with the 9 muses. Then, the archeological site at the back of the museum is good but it is a bit left to its own devices.

Opening time I think was until 18 in summer and 17:30 in winter. Was very surprised, because I only wanted to see Amphitheater, but since the ticket of 12 dirham includes also the museum, we went there, and the place was huge, loads of giant scaled mosaics. Much bigger and interesting than I thought with a backyard of ruins. Day trip from Sousse is very doable without a car, but lounage of 45 min each way.

12 dn for the museum and el jem amphitheater like 700 meters away. We enjoyed the mosaics and a stroll in the outside area.
