This is home to the traditional ruler of the Egba clan, whose title is Alake of Egbaland. The present ruler built a new palace behind the old palace, and so one first goes through the period of old mortar and bricks with its history, onto this modern period of advanced technology. Security/Safety of Alake of Egbaland Palace This is a very safe location. What To Bring Before heading to Alake of Egbaland Palace, here are some helpful things to take along with you: Camera to capture the sights and take selfies with A local guide to help you navigate the Do's and Don't's Best Features When the palace comes into view, the first things you notice are the two magnificent pillars that anchor the gate. They are decorated with the Alake's emblem and a bar connects them together. Inscipted on the bar are the Yoruba words, "Aafin Alake Ti Ile Egba" which translates to "Alake of Egbaland Palace". Walking inside, one immediately sees the old palace. It is still well maintained and one can see its majesty and the awe it inspired in visitors of old. There are statures, busts and figurines adorning the compound, each telling its own tale. Asides the palaces, there is an ICT centre, a squash court, and a n office for the Egba Traditional Council. Writer's Review The palace is rich in art, culture, history and the tradition of the Egba clan. Everything about it boastfully displays the pride of the Egba people. There are palace staff who will take you on a tour of the palace but unless you have a royal appointment, you may not enter the palace chambers itself nor see the Alake. However, there are a lot of intriguing sights to grip your fancy.

My first time of visiting the Alake's Palace, a truly historical site. I love the old buildings, a joy that they are being well maintained and preserved.

Alake's Palace gave me joy. There was a sense of pride I felt just by being there, the rich cultural presence was potent, very hard to miss though I'm not from Abeokuta I felt like I belonged there, it reminded me so much of my home town, Esie, especially the artifacts beautifully assembled made me feel at home.

Maybe because it was a holiday BUT the thought was that it should have been very active / busy at this period. Just went through the front gate, nothing much to it and noone offered to talk through,I shared the pictures though and maybe you could stop like we did, it's still an experience and you might be luckier than I was.

It was refreshingly anew as if I have never been there, which of course is a long time ago as an abeograms student in 2004 to 2007. The palace look good with ongoing developments that will be unveiled soon such as a ministadium etc.

This is the palace of the Paramount ruler of the Egba kingdom, The Alake of Egba land. This palace accommodates many features of the past and the present. There is a museum within the palace, where artifacts and relics are kept, showing the history of the Egba people. There is also the main palace where the Paramount Ruler lives. Included also is a massive pavilion for religious and cultural activities within the palace. There is also a large space for parking of cars. For deeper information and education about the kingdom of Egba, the best place to visit is the Palace of the Alake of Egba land.

Kabiyesi is a pleasant person anyway. He is working round the clock with both individuals and corporate bodies to improve people and infrastructures. Very peaceful reign!

An historical ground that tells tales of how the egba people came to be. The palace is situated adjacent the centenary hall in Ake and close to the first church on Nigeria. When going for a tour, hold cash to give the old men to tell you tales of each effigy located at the palace front. A sweet experience and a lovely place to learn more and more about the egba history. The kings main palace is at the other side of the compu
