Been down here a few time hoping for a Carvery. I love a good carvery. Tonight is the fourth time I’ve been where there is no food, massive queues, insufficient meat and tiny portions of meat served. I have previously been here and they closed the doors at 9pm. Another time there were no burgers. Another time only carvery. Today there is no Turkey or Ham. So beef then? A beef and Yorkshire pud? Shambles. Ale is always off too. Shame.

Princess Pizza Party... We went to the Princess Pizza Party, the children loved it. They decorated the room prior to the event starting. The Children was handed a little pizza making kit, and helped step by step making their own pizzas. Alongside that they did outer activities such as dancing and colouring and party games. The children loved the pizzas especially since they was extra special and they got to make them. Chips and juice as also provide and to top it off lots of ice cream. Belle was the Princess and she was amazing she made it very special for all children and included them all and made it fun for you the 3 hours the children was there. Really did put 100 percent in. All the staff was really friendly and really happy with the children all took time out to talk to them. Polite and professional at all times. We got a few different starters and deserts from menu again these was enjoyable. We will be attending more of these events and it was 9 pounds which massively helps these days when all is very expensive at this moment in time so I found it great and good quality for the money we paid. Really recommend the events :)

First time going redcap since it reopened, paid for two Carverys. Whilst at the bar I asked if I had to pay extra for Yorkshires, the chef overheard this and shouted “ your not having any”. We went to get our food the meat was a massive bowl of fat. We where told sometimes it’s like this sometimes it’s not. The veg looked like it had been sat there for a week and was all over the floor. They did refund our money which was the only decent thing about it. Absolutely shocking!

Lovely meal with the other half I had a massive burger 🍔 yummy. Catherine had bbq pizza . Large portions for a very reasonable price. Very new and very clean. Glad this place has opened after so long what a great job they have done bringing back to life.

Had breakfast here today, its an all you can eat style. On ordering I was asked if I had any allergies, paying is one I said (my funny for the day). I like a breakfast where I pick my own from the counter in the quantity I want with endless tea or coffee, so if you like the same, call in.

Called at 4.30 pm trying to book a table for 5.00. no luck so from a6.00pm booking. Seated as soon as we arrived. Ordered 3 standard carveries. I had beef and pork as my meats, and both were tasty and tender. All our plates were cleared and all gravy mopped up with the Yorkies. I thought the Old Mother Redcap was pleasant, tasty and good value for money. My only complaint, 1 Yorkshire pudding is never enough so next time I'll order the version that gives me more than 1.

I came here with my grandmother for a carvery. The staff were very friendly and the food was fresh and very tasty. Plenty of options for vegetables. We both left empty plates, with full bellies, and would definitely return. I would come back here with my son - 2 courses for £5.99 for children is well worth it!

Just had a carvery with a friend. My turkey and gammon was cooked just as I like it. Great selection of veg, had mashed swede which many don't. Great gravy as well. Very filling.

It was disgusting. Plain and simple. Pepsi was flat, hardly any meat left, asked for fresh meat to be told no. Was then asked to sit and wait 10 minutes for fresh veg - 15 minutes later still nothing. Coffee was half a cup. If I could do zero stars I would. Left in the end to go elsewhere. Received 1/3 refund. Will not recommend at all.

Called in for breakfast this morning. The restaurant was clean and tidy . The chap who took our order was extremely polite and well mannered. After choosing our table and placing our drinks down it was time to head over to the carvery ,where we were greatted with an abundance of hot fresh breakfast items, and one of the strangest things I have ever seen .A BREAKFAST PIZZA . The pizza was delicious top marks for the chef who made it . The waitress who's area we were sat it (Alyssa) was more than helpfully with her check backs making sure everything was up to standard

We had the vegetarian carvery which was a bit roast. It takes 30 mins to cook so you we had quite a wait, whereas the meat is readily available. The mash wasn't very good. The gravy was excellent. It was quite cold inside. The staff were friendly and we had a good time.

We went for an impromptu carvery. The carvery was very good. As I was driving I ordered a lime/mint soft drink. It was basically soda water and ice. Would recommend or get that again. I took it back to bar and asked for more flavour.

Always pleasant friendly staff especially the waitress who clears food always pleasant and very attentive. The food is reasonable quality for the price. the new small plate option we're you only have choice of one meat is abit restrictive

Only popped in to collect a meal, but have been here pre pandemic and always found the place very nice. Food very good (yesterday's take away was superb too), clean and very nice staff. Well worth a visit. Believe it gets very busy - which itself speaks volumes.

Had a carvery with a friend here at lunch time. The food and service were good. Plenty to eat as always with a carvery. No knives and forks at the table so we had to go and find some and menus and tables a bit sticky. Overall though the staff were genuinely lovely and the food was good.

Used to visit regularly before Covid and before the recent refurbishment. Still okay and great value for money. Improved decor added to the ambience. Food still excellent, hot with generous meat portions and an abundance of gravy and accompaniments. Easy parking - especially mid-week lunchtime.

So sorry to say this, but I went at 1 p.m., not long after the first service of lunch. The meat was good, and less fat than years previous. BUT... the leeks were not cooked at all, chewy and raw. The roasts were dry and I gave up, The new one's were there but NO staff to open it. Mash was dry and lumpy. Garden peas were cold, really cold. The only good veg was cauliflower, with a bit of nice cheese on top. "Al dente" does not mean uncooked. I am a little apprehensive about going for breakfast, which we used to do regularly. 11.95 for cold, uncooked food is a bit much. Sorry because we used to go there all the time, veggie lovers love good veg BUT we expect the meat to be good when you only get a slice n half you really like good, well cooked veg!

Visited tonight with my wife. Unfortunately the quality of the food was below a reasonable standard. Everything seemed to have been cooked more than once. I ordered a pint of beer and a 500ml bottle turned up, so not a pint. The service was extremely slow, the whole experience took 2 hours. I'll not be in a rush to return. Wetherspoons is a better and cheaper experience.

Went today with a friend and 2 kids, ordered 2 chicken burgers, kids nuggets and kids pizza. Only positives staff where friendly and polite and the larger was a good pint. Food took quite a while to come out over 30 minutes. (Very few customers in) Parts of the chicken burgers on both where inedible tasted like rubber and was tough, the kids nuggets was over cooked and to crispy for a 2yr old to eat, and the kids pizza wasn't the best. I also asked for no mayo on one of the burgers and they both came with mayo but by that point we'd waited long enough for me to send it back, which was a shame as it turned out you couldn't eat all the chicken anyway due to issues previously mentioned. Crumbs on the seats as we sat down. 100% will not be returning.

Well I thought it would be a memorable experience on father's Day for breakfast. Well it was. Very disappointed ☹️ slow service on a buffet breakfast, customers asking for refunds, I can not understand how the service could be so terrible. Staff where nice but the kitchen is disfunctional. Would I go back maybe in a couple of years.

Terrible!! We’d booked but there was no one to greet us, or a table reserved so we had to find a table and the pub was busy so by luck we found a table that could accommodate the 5 of us that we had booked for. What is the point in booking? We were looking forward to the carvery all day but it closed as we arrived as there seemed to be no vegetables. No problem we would order from the menu, 3 fish and chips and 2 kids meals. We were then told after ordering that there was a 45 minute wait for food! Then we were told that there was only one fish left! We reordered, waited an hour and the food came! My daughters chicken burger was ordered plain with no sauce but was caped in mayonnaise! We sent it back, 5 minutes later what was obviously the same piece of chicken returned, clean but tiny and like a piece of rubber! We were refunded but not apologised to really, seemed like normal routine in this place. The rest of the food with the exception of the pizza was quite frankly very poor but was edible. We definitely will not be returning!!

Food was good. Wait time was slow, didn’t even seem that busy. No one serving on the carvery. Atmosphere was poor, lots of kids running around and shouting.

Very friendly and helpful staff as soon as we walked in. We had the carvery and the food was all cooked perfectly, with the most tender and succulent turkey we've had at any restaurant. Well worth the drive out, excellent value for money, and we'll definitely come here again. Thanks to all the staff.

Would recommend as the staff were very friendly and supportive of the group I took in for Christmas Lunch. Food was served in a timely manner. Marcus the manager was great with bar service and also a big thanks to the patience of Rebecca with her table service, very friendly and smiling talking to the residents each time. Lisa behind the Carvery was sooo polite and supportive when the residents went to choose their own carvery. Thank you to a caring team, will definitely be back and highly recommend

Our second visit to eat here, and we can't fault the food or service as both were great. Definitely recommend people having a visit to sample the food.

We was assisted by Megan, she was polite and showed compassion. She was able to help with my dietary needs and went out of her way. Always has a smile and asked if everything was fine. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and wasn't rushed to have food. The meal was very good and value for money, recommend the venue.

Bar staff good, great pint of Guinness, poured well, doesn't taste terrible like it can sometimes do when they haven't cleaned the pipes. Talked to one of the staff that said he drinks it too so he regularly cleans it. Food was great but took forever to come in a half full restaurant. Kills what would have been a great experience. Sort that out and you'll have a great establishment.

I come here often for breakfast. The food is always spot on and the staff are helpful and friendly. The price of the buffet breakfast is very competitive compared to what you would pay in a shop or cafe and if you use the stonehouse app you can get rewards too.

We enjoyed some truly superb meals. Wonderful Bacon Cheeseburger, and, a really tasty Over-The-Top veggie burger. Served up with tasty onion rings, plus, generous portions of chips. Outstanding. Delivery was about 10 minutes earlier than they said. Well done Mother Redcaps! We shall stick with you !!!

Absolutely abysmal service waited over 25 minutes for food that shouldn't be deemed as edible. The meat was chewy, the burger sauce made the burgers inedible, the peas were dried out, the roast potatoes weren't roasted and were undercooked. The chips were good and ended up getting a partial refund

    - 1 star because there was no gravy!!!🤣 yes you read that right. we had all our carvery on a plate ready to go, got to the end of the line and they were out of gravy! had to wait a few minutes for a fresh batch. to be fair when it did come the meal was very nice. they were also out of a few meats but made up for it with sausages/pigs in blankets that usually cost extra. overall it was a decent meal and I would go again for sure.

I haven't had a carvery or been here for quite a number of years because they attract certain types of people if you know what i mean and the meat is usually dry. On this occasion all the meats were perfect and the veg too. All food was very hot and the cauliflower cheese was heaven! So cheap too. It was a Friday night and 2 carvery meals and 2 drinks with the extra paid for the pigs in blankets came to a total of about £17! That's great value and makes it worth the risk of trying again so i already plan to go back soon.

Went today for a carvery. The inside looks much cleaner and inviting. All the food was fresh. The meats were all very nice. We asked for more more and gravy. The were brought out immediately. We really enjoyed it and will be visiting again.

The breakfast was great and staff were friendly and helpful. However, the toilet facilities are terrible. New and clean yes, but the ladies toilet cubicles are so small that they are hardly even suitable for a child. You cannot get in! In fact in one cubicle the door won't even open properly because it wedges on the toilet seat. Anyone with any slight mobility issues and elderly visitors will really struggle. I tried to use the accessible toilet but this is RADAR key controlled. Also I couldn't see any baby facilities. As this is a family restaurant I think these are serious issues and are likely to affect repeat customer. I received a response to this post which only referred to the baby changing facilities, which are not sign posted. The main issue about the very small sized toilet cubicles, one of which won't open properly, was not addressed.

Called on a Saturday evening about 5:45pm. Can't say about the quality of the food as we were sent away because they 'are not doing walk ins'. There were only 4 of us (2 adults 2 children) and there were plenty of tables (only some had reserved signs on). No info online to say booking essential, no signage on doors, no greeter. Well you won't be getting any business from me.

Keep in mind they have only recently opened and all the staff are on a learning curve. Had a all you can eat breakfast, bacon was lovely, had the really crispy pieces. The eggs, hash browns and beans where okay. But black pudding and sausages were awful 😒 Won't recommend, Will try again in January when they have their act together.

Me and my partner went for carvery yesterday. The pubs lovely and so are the bar staff. However the women serving the meat on the counter was rude & miserable. She slopped the yorkshire puddings and meat on the plate, while doing this dropped meat on the counter, picked it up and slung it on the plate. She wasn't very happy when I said she shouldn't be serving that meat and asked for fresh.

Went today at 15 .47. There wasn't many customers the carvery. Looked like it had been there since lunch time so didn't bother with that ..so ordered fish and and chips and garden peas . My partner had the same with battered sausage. The fish was nice but the rest was left overs from lunch very disappointed. After wait 20 minutes for it . When asked if it was ok I said what was wrong . For him to go away to tell the kitchen and returned10 minutes late asking if I wanted fresh chips . I said no because the meal was already spoilt . Wont be rushing back no wonder it closed down . Very disappointed and not value for money

Went to the redcap on 20th November with my friend and we both had pizza. Its was really nice. The staff are all new and they are finding thier feet so people need to be patient. We will go back again, in fact we've booked Christmas eve.

Had to wait ages for them to restock the food and even then it wasn't hot. The chefs/ cooks who serve the food looked like the unhappiest and grumpiest people i have ever seen. However, the food tasted quite nice when we eventually got it

Lauren was super helpful, couldn't ask for more. She went out of her way to make our meal out pleasurable. She heard me and my friend talk about what veg there might be, instead of walking by she said she would look and came back and confirmed. She told us how the offers worked and also the choice of the specials sponges available.

Decent carvery food when I’ve been recently. I’ve been 4 times over the last couple of months and it’s better than what it used to be anyway so keep it up and I’ll keep coming back. The beef was fantastic and the veg was alright but I can’t complain for the price.

Went about 5.45 one Thursday night we was waiting for food and when it arrived it was bland and watery ,I wasn't expecting Michelin star food I never have from the red cap it's always been cheap and cheerful but enjoyable this time it wasn't, disappointing, the service girl on the carvery openly moaned to the girl bringing refill meat and veg out about "cutting meat all day " The gem in that place as always is the gentleman behind the bar ,long black haired fella ,not sure if he's the manager ,always very polite and very friendly very very professional fella,as everywhere at the minute they are probably struggling for staff,I hope it can be turned around as I enjoy nipping there for tea every now and then.

Had a lovely lunch with my parents this afternoon. Staff were very welcoming especially Lauren and Pam who were very attentive and friendly making sure we had everything we needed. Food was excellent will definitely be visiting again.

Went for dinner, ordered and paid for food, sat with drinks for 20 minutes to then be told that the carvery meats would not be ready for an hour! This should have been mentioned when we ordered. Asked for a refund which was firstly refused until demanded as had kids to feed and needed to go elsewhere. When refund was given it was only part refunded for the food only not the drinks leaving us out of pocket and the drinks were barely touched.
