Staff are nice. Pub is cosy and comfortable. But I have to say the Sunday Carvery yesterday was the worse one I’ve had. Mashed potatoes had huge lumps in it. The roast potatoes wasn’t even roasted, more like boiled potatoes. Meat was fine. Yorkshire pudding tasted burnt. Just one stuffing ball that wasn’t even that good. Very limited veg selection

this place has been hit and miss in the past, but our visit this week was the worst. Carvery meat scraps and the vegetables dry or over cooked. chefs on didn't care at all too busy flirting with one another. the young staff out front were lovely but seemed very stressed. Maybe some new fresh staff is the awnser especially in the kitchen.

To be honest, we found this place by accident when visiting the nearby car boot. Under the present restrictions we were more than happy to find a warm welcome and the best seating in the garden area with extensive, interesting views available. Orders for food were placed efficiently and our drinks were quickly served. The food was presented a lot quicker than was estimated and was really good in every respect. The total charge for our family group of three was really good value and our total experience was most enjoyable. Many thanks, we will be back.

Called at 18:34 today, asked whether they had a table for 2 people at 7pm. Guy told me they did and he took my name and phone number. We arrived at the pub but they hadn't made note of our reservation, but thankfully they weren't busy and could accommodate us regardless. We sat in the garden and were visited by a staff member about 10 mins later. He took our order for food and drinks. Drinks arrived first and our entire order was paid for in cash, including a decent tip. I finished my drink before our food arrived and I then asked a different waiter for another drink, which he acknowledged. Our food then arrived which was okay, aside from my wife's sausage and mash drowning in watery gravy. We finished our meal and the drink that I ordered never arrived, so we ended up leaving. I'd be more understanding if they were busy, but they weren't.

Never been before but we was on our way home from Blackburn. I really felt like I needed a carvery for my evening meal ! Tender roast beef, soft and fluffy Yorkshire pudding and rich gravy. That's what I feel I got ! The choice of vegetables was good too. All cooked perfectly. The woman serving at the carvery was really friendly and chatty. The women on the bar were also very polite and helpful. In fact as we walked through the door we was greeted with a smile. Good food. Nice atmosphere. Reasonable price. Thank you.

I have been coming here since I was a wee child and I used to adore Charlie chalks.. They don't have that anymore however I still love a carvery here. Set in beautiful surroundings on the edge of great harwood, ample parking. I will come to this carvery till the day I die. The staff are wonderful. They give you extra Yorkshire pudding with a wink and go above and beyond to help you have an enjoyable stay. What a magical place. It might be in my top ten places to go for food in the world. If I died here I would be happy with that. I don't think anyone else would but I would. Oh and you have to sit by the fire in winter here . Do it !

We arrived at 6.30 and ordered the carvery. After waiting a good 5 minutes for service we had to shout for someone to serve us. The meat was average but most of the vegetable bowls were empty. Had to scrape what was left. The veg that was there was overcooked. Definatly not worth the 10.95 each.

My and partner went today for lunch. The food was really fresh and very tasty. The staff were friendly, helpful and very polite. They even gave me some spare meat for my dog which was really kind. The atmosphere was just really relaxing and very welcoming. Overall an excellent service, will definitely return and most definitely recommend.

Another lovely meal at The Gamecock with fabulous service from the staff. Just can’t believe the lovely manager went out of his way to get me baked beans to go with my gammon egg and chips. What a star Thank you so much x💛

A very cosy environment, food was delicious, hot and fresh. We are heading back next week to give the carvery a go as it smelt amazing. Staff are friendly and very helpful

The carvery here is decent and even better when you can sit round the back over watching the fields and landscape. 2 standard carvery’s with one beer because I get a pint of water with ice just over £20 it isn’t bad.

Had a lovely time at gamecock the staff are all brilliant. Best carvery in Lancashire all farm assured meats, local veg from Lancashire farmers. The Yorkshire puddings are massive and home made. Will definitely be returning. Keep up the good work

We had the carvery. The gammon was a little bit tough today which is very unusual for Gamecock. We also had to wait an extra 5 mins for the Yorkshire puddings and they were a little undercooked. Won't stop me coming back though. Could do with some air conditioning in there especially in the heat as when I came out I felt like I had been in the shower. Overall it's always been a place I enjoy going so I do recommend it to anyone who hasn't been before xxxx

My family and I called in Tuesday for tea, we all had a carvery but there was very little on on the carvery deck. What we had is the 2 stars given. Staff stood around chatting and discussing there personal life's, No interaction or check in on us to see if everything was ok not very professional at all. I suppose that's what you get for employing young ones. things need to improve before we will be back sorry.

Stopped off for some food after shopping with the other half, the staff were polite and friendly, the food was great and it wasn't too busy when we arrived but it got busier before we left. It's definitely worth visiting if you're in the area or just passing through. The photos are ÷÷ breaded mushrooms with garlic mayo dip scampi & chips & mushy peas with tatar sauce knickerbocker glory

It's a carvery not much to go wrong, visited as it was my sisters birthday. Had the carvery it wasn't up much hard roast potatoes very salty Gammon didn't have the beef or turkey as it looked dry. Wasn't to my liking but others enjoyed it. Service was good beers not a bad selection.

Nice carvery this place, lots of neat and real Yorkshires. None of those aunt Bessie style frozen ones like some places. Lovely friendly helpful staff who checked on us, also nice selection of winter vegetables like beetroot and butternut squash which were ab unexpected treat! We'll be back soon!

Nice atmosphere, carvery could have been better though. Great parsnips and horseradish sauce, roast potatoes and cauliflower missed the mark for me. Gravy was definitely something like bisto.

I visited the gamecock today, I got 2 carvery’s and 2 Pepsis for £23. For what we got that was great! Great portion sizes and great food. Yorkshire puddings was huge and the meat was amazing. Staff was all so polite and helpful especially the lady who served us at the bar. Definitely coming back again!

Very good value for money. Visited a lot of places, paid twice as much and had much worse. Every one of the staff was exceptionally pleasant which makes a nice change these days! Would definitely revisit. I 👍

This pub has definitely got better since it was taken over. The carvery is delicious, the veg are fresh not frozen, leeks in cream, cauliflower cheese, roasted pumpkin ad sweet potatoes, are a few of the fresh choices, meats delicious. The pudding especially the crumble is proper crumble and is a very good size portion. All at a very reasonable price too. If you haven't been for a while give it a try, think you'll be surprised, I was, and have been quiet a few times since trying it again . Impressed!

Probably didn't go at the best time but worst carvery I have ever had. Large Yorkshire pudding but dry and tasteless. The meats were lovely, the veg frazzled but still barely warm and the worst roast potatoes I have had anywhere. Won't be going again

Really good food and friendly staff. Our friend brought his dog and we have a lively dinner. The carvery was really nice. The gammon was cooked perfectly. The leek and cheese was the best. And the coffee is decent too. Would definitely recommend and go back again.

Relaxed, paid for large Carvery. Was given small. When asked if I had correct size. Changed plates with meat cut . Which was for small. Only 1 Yorkshire. Everywhere I have had large. You get 2. The meat Beef and Turkey. Beef was rich and flavoursome. Melted in the mouth. No cranberry sauce for the Turkey . Bit odd . Buttered leeks were squeaky and crunchy. Perfect mash bit stiff. Roast potatoes melted in your mouth. Service on phone was polite and had Carvery not been messed up. Then I would have considered a 5. Unfortunately you have to be honest. Would I return. Yes. Is it value for money. £17.35 for small Carvery and pint of Stella. Which was cold and crisp. Borderline expensive. Yet very good tucker nevertheless.

Not good to be honest, we where looking forward to this lunch, we had carvery i had beef the wife pork, the meat was dry and the veg tastless apart from the colliflour cheese which tasted simply awful. We would advise if your looking for a carvery then choose somwhere else. Staff pleasant

Lovely good, cheerful helpful staff. Love the food and not expensive. Just a shame they did away with the ice cream machine. We've been there a good few times over the years and will continue. Thanks guys. X

I've only given this one star because it wouldn't let me give minus - 10, the food is absolutely disgusting and I genuinely wouldn't feed it my dogs. Me and my sister went there for lunch and I had the Italian meatballs for starters it was so cheap and foul tasting, my sis had the nachos which she said was quite decent and we both had the steak sandwich and when it was brought to our table it was horrendous we asked for the steak medium to well done but there was that much blood on it and it our bread was red and the bit of steak I did try was tough and still had a heart beat we did complain and all they said was we can get you another one but who in their right mind would want more for from that place, obviously we refused but they didn't offer a refund and it cost around £35.00 absolutely disgraceful I will never step foot in there again.

Went for daughters birthday, 5 adults, 4 very loud kids. We were informed there would be a wait for the food, as they were short staffed, but when we did get it it was lovely, freshly cooked and hot, we all enjoyed it, and the service from the manager and waitress was fab, bless them they couldn't do enough, even though they were rushed off there feet, Thank you gamecock, it was well worth the wait. And if your reading this give them a decent tip they deserve it. 😁😁
