Syed Abdullah Shah Qadri (1680–1757) known popularly as Bulleh Shah and Bulleya, was a Punjabi philosopher and Sufi poet during 17th-century Punjab. His ancestors had migrated from Bukhara (modern-day Uzbekistan) in the 14th/15th century AD. His first spiritual teacher was Shah Inayat Qadiri, a Sufi murshid of Lahore. He was a mystic poet and is universally regarded as "The Father of Punjabi Enlightenment". He lived and was buried in Kasur. He was born in 1680 in Uch, Mughal Empire (present day Punjab, Pakistan) to a family of Persian origin.Bulleh Shah was an eminent scholar of Arabic and Persian. After his early education, he went to Lahore where he met Inayat Arian, and became his disciple. Bulleh Shah's father, Shah Muhammad Darwaish, was well-versed in Arabic, Persian, and the Quran.Due to uncertain reasons, he had to move to Malakwal, a village of Sahiwal. Later, when Bulleh Shah was six years old, his family moved to Pandoke, which is 50 miles southeast of Kasur. Bulleh Shah was schooled by his father, along with the other children of the village. Most sources confirm that Bulleh Shah had to work as a child and adolescent herder in the village. It is confirmed that he received his higher education in Kasur. Some historians claim that Bulleh Shah received his education at a highly reputed madrassa run by Hafiz Ghulam Murtaza where he taught for some time after his graduation. After his early education, he went to Lahore where he met Inayat Arian, and became his disciple. He died in 1757, at the age of 77 and was buried in Kasur, where he had spent most of his life. A dargah was built over his grave. He was declared non-Muslim by a few literalist "Mullah" of Kasur and they had claimed it was prohibited to offer the funeral prayer of Bulleh Shah due to Kufr fatwa (allegations) put on him by extremists. His funeral prayer was led by Qazi Hafiz Syed Zahid Hamdani, a great religious personality of Kasur. He was buried in Kasur when he died in 1757. There is a clean and very huge veranda which leads to the Tomb of Baba Bulleh Shah as you enter the shrine. The ceiling of shrine is decorated with the verses of Bulleh Shah in elegant calligraphy.

This is the shrine of Punjab's most famous Sufi Saint - Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah. The shrine seems to have been recently built. It's not a very old construction. The beautiful blue tile work is fresh. The shrine itself is not difficult to find. Anybody in Kasur can tell you where it is. However, you get here through a narrow bazaar. Big cars might find it difficult. Parking space is limited too. Anyway, the energy of the place is amazing. Go here on a Thursday. Alot of malang and fakirs here too. Don't forget to eat Kasur's famous Andarassa.

This place is a shrine of spiritual teacher known as Hazrat Bulleh Shah. It's usually crowded as people from all the walks of life visit this holy place. Shrine is quite spacious and you can sit in open area for rest etc. Inside the shrine, there's a tomb of Hazrat Bulleh Shah and adjacent is a graveyard. Parking of the shrine needs to be improved. You can buy famous local foods outside shrine. Gifts shop is also available inside shrine if you want to buy. You cannot take your shoes inside shrine. However, good thing is that there's an efficient token system for keeping your shoes securely. If you are visiting the place on car etc. make sure to park it somewhere away as the the place is congested. Also beware of your surroundings as there maybe drug addicts in the vicinity of Shrine.

a Bulleh Shah's Tomb Me and my brother Basharat visited Baba Bulleh Shah's tomb. It was my first time there, and I experienced a strange sense of peace. Baba Bulleh Shah was a Punjabi Sufi poet originally from Kasur, which is now in Pakistan. He is renowned for his mystical and spiritual poetry that frequently emphasized themes of love, unity, and the profound connection between humans and the divine. His poetry has left an indelible mark on Punjabi literature and Sufi philosophy. Baba Bulleh Shah's poetry transcends time and place, resonating with people of various backgrounds and beliefs. He used simple yet profound verses to convey profound spiritual truths. His works often explored the concepts of love for the Divine, humanism, and the rejection of religious orthodoxy in favor of a personal, heartfelt connection with the Divine.

A holy shrine in the mid of historical city of Kasor. Visiting the Mazar of this Sufi Poet brings a kind of spirtual pleasure to the followers. Mistic ambient, qawalis and the old tree in the mid of courtyard adds to its attraction.
