The hotel has a good location. Cafe YUCCA is also well designed. They designed the book for the readers, and the cafe called YUCCA, which is located in a good location, and for the readers, and also for the book. This is good and encouraging. But their hot drink is not pleasant and satisfying, improve it. It would be good if the people in reception were trained in customer service and politeness.

Update a year later I am happy to say that the service and quality of food has drastically improved. I would truly recommend this venue, especially for a chill meal and cocktails. I would recommend making a reservation beforehand though, it gets really busy. Previous review This is specifically about Lounge 360. Let me start with the positive comments I have: the views and the design of the place were awesome. That being said, it was one of the most disappointing places I've been to in Addis. We went there yesterday and 1. Service was horrible, we hadn't even gotten our drinks an hour after being seated despite reminding the waiters 2-3 times 2. We asked for wine and they hadn't brought us a glass by the time we left 3 hours later (okay, music was also good) 3. Served chicken cold😳 and the rest of the food was also tasteless tbh 4. The worst part, the expats sitting next to us (got there a full hour after us BTW) got served both food and drinks before us with 3-4 waiters at their beck and call. It's an honest shame🙄

This hotel has some really good points. The staff were very nice and welcoming, the housekeeping was good, my room was comfy and the rooftop lounge bar is excellent with nice food and great views. breakfast offers local food, which is really cool. I particularly liked the coffee bar on the ground floor. The location is good and the airport shuttle is very efficient and much appreciated. now for some honest feedback, which is meant constructively. To me, it feels like this hotel is very aspirational, but not quite there yet. This is for a few reasons. 1) the hotel has some great facilities. eg a restaurant, but there was no information about them in my room. Giving customers this info about services and how to use them might encourage more people to do so. 2) the hotel advertises it has a sauna and steam room, but as far as I could see, no such thing exists yet. I used the gym, which is mostly functional (some of the machines not working) but it advertises that there is access to trainers. I never saw one. 3) The room was clean and the housekeeping was very efficient - just sometimes the drains smelled quite strongly. 4) There was a notice in the room telling me to put valuables at the front desk in a safety deposit box and to fill in a form for this. I tried, and the receptionist kindly took and cared for my stuff, but told me that I should use the safe in my room, which is weird as I was literally just told not to do that. Overall, I would be happy to stay again, and with some improvement this hotel could go from good to great.

I have never been consistently disappointed by a bad service like Monarch Hotel. I went there a couple of times, and they have consistently managed to disappoint me in different ways. I don't know if it is a problem of management or something else, but these guys are bad. The staff were rude (just a couple of them, not all), although the building has a good view, the facilities in the building are sub-par. Not to mention their rooftop restaurant, which has the worst service in addis. I have never reviewed a hotel 1 star, but monarch fully deserves the 1 star accolade for their consistency in disappointing me.

The place is fine but 360 lounge is a rip off. We went there specifically for the view, but almost all the seats with the best view is reserved for "bottle service" you can't order food and drinks and get to see the view they posted on Google. And I think that's a bit frugal. The people serving there also have a bit of an attitude, we asked them to prepare a sit next to a window and they were not willing to accommodate us. So basically we went all the way there to dine and watch the view, and we were given a table in the middle of the terrace and that was a disappointment. If you go for the food only, it's really nice.

We hosted our wedding reception almost a month ago. The wedding went well but when it comes to give our deposit back after the wedding we had to beg them. They kept blaming it on paper work being approved. We’re still trying/fighting to get our deposit back. If you decide to host your wedding reception at the wedding keep in mind that they will give you the run around for your own money.

The 360 bar on the 13th floor has an amazing view over Addis. I really enjoyed my stay. Joseph (breakfast) always makes sure you get everything you need. All other staff as well, for example Lydia fulfil all your wishes. They make you feel welcome and home even for a short stay. Will always come back when in Addis. The room was really tidy and clean, you find everything you need.

Went to the rooftop bar for our last night in Addis and the manager prohibited taking photos with camera. They allowed phone camera instead which we think was really unreasonable. They said photos taken from digital camera can be printed out. LOL which century are we living in? Phone camera can definitely be printed out too. Will be leaving a very bad review in Asian community so you will be losing all potential Asian visitors.

The best place to stay in Addis. I stayed for 2 months with my 4 year old and enjoyed everyday. The staff is so kind and friendly and always try to help in the best way possible. The breakfast is buffet and they always have new and interesting options. It is really convenient as they have a cafeteria on the ground floor and a restaurant on top. it is only 4 mins drive from Friendship and Unity park.

I am writing this review in the middle of the night (3 am): I can not sleep because of the noise caused by the building site located at the bottom of the hotel. Update: the day after, one of the manager made an agreement and the night works stopped. The hotel is very near to the center but it is literally in the middle of a building site. Apparently there is not a law that forbid to work during night time and the noise is tremendous. Me and my colleague could not sleep for an entire night. The elevator was broken at least 2 times during our stay (8 nights) and we had to use the stairs. This is how we found out that that the hotel is basically a work in progress building (lower floor). Do not include breakfast. I booked the hotel with the breakfast included but it is not an international breakfast. They offer mostly traditional food (which honestly I do like but not for breakfast) and it is not absolutely like in the photos on Google maps. I had to buy breakfast and eat in my room. Last but not least, we payed for a room with the park view and we got rooms with the building site view.

I’d like to be back because the views are beautiful from the rooftop. However, the whole tables are by bottle only is really absurd. The waiter asked us to vacate a table when other ladies arrived… claiming they had ordered a bottle so we should move for them. FYi the ladies only had beer which we found amusing; came off as a bit discriminatory because really why were we being asked to give up our table for them? Anyway, we refused to move. The manager later apologized for the uncomfortable experience of being asked to move. Also if you don’t drink alcohol & soda, I recommend going to the cafe downstairs. They don’t serve any hot drinks (tea or any type of coffee) at the rooftop bar. Too bad for designated drivers / non-alcoholic drinkers. The music was great though & the manager is kind.

For a few days in Addis, this is a cool discovery! Great roof terraces with exceptional views. Service is good, staff attentive to needs, breakfast choices more than enough.

Such a vibe! This place is its own vibe. It’s comfortable to hangout in groups as well as take sometime to self. It has such a beautiful view of Addis and the sunset are amazing. Paired with a wonderful service from everyone and our waitress Emebet Fasil. Emebet was welcoming and had some great suggestions.

Nice rooms, highly recommended! I was pleasantly surprised, the accommodation was great. When I come back to Vienna, I stay only in this hotel. I cannot give a feedback on the breakfast, because I do not eat in the morning. There is nothing to complain about

This is regarding the 360 bar exclusively. You'll get two stairs with a stunning view. However, watching the sun setting might be challenging. You have to reserve the best seats beforehand. And then be ready to spend at least 5k birr. It gets a bit too windy, especially around sunset. I've seen some complaining about the service here. But, honestly speaking we had one of the best services we can expect; despite full house.

Okay I went three separate times to their 360 restaurant, the service is awful. Food order takes one full hour to arrive, andddd they don't bring the drinks for 45 min of that hour. You get your bill after begging for minutes. It's too hyped on social media better to go when they get used to serving crowds smoothly. Location and view is impeccable.

I normally don't take my time to do reviews but I felt the need this time. This was the first time for us (My friend and I) at the Monarch Hotel in AA. We were early on a weekday, so seating was immediate. Our waitress (Eden Tamena) was the most pleasant and helpful; in fact, her service all day was spot-on. We each ordered our food and it was delicious. I told Eden that it was my friend’s birthday, she surprised us with a choice of desserts and of course, we got the chocolate cake. Sooo good! Thank you for making my friend’s birthday special! All in all, I was impressed with the service, staff, and atmosphere. The hotel is convenient for shopping & restaurants... all Impeccable! I will recommend it & Will definitely be back when in town next.

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. The staff members were extremely rude and didn't even provide us with a place to sit while we waited for a table. What made it even worse was that when white customers arrived, they were treated differently. It's disheartening to live in a country where stereotypes still exist, especially considering that our country was not colonized. It's unfortunate how we can be influenced by these biases. A service should be fair to all customers, regardless of where they come from or who they are. It's disheartening to see a hotel perpetuating stereotypes.

I stayed at this hotel for a total of >1month.The rooms are nicely designed but I had old and torn bedsheets a few times. Many knobs and fixtures in the bathroom and elsewhere need attention. Most of all, the parking is inadequate and the staff are rude. The same goes with the waiters in the lounge, especially the heads. The rooms in the higher floors are affected by the noise from jazz nights three times a week. The receptionists and the marketing manager were very polite and helpful.

I recently had an engagement reservation for 10 people. They sold me the package mentioning that the service I get will be a 5* service and what I have got was a 1* service. The servers took so much time to come and take orders. The supervisors and manager was even worse. Anything I have asked before I pay, their reply was either you can buy it or leave it. They seem like they have 0 experience in customer service. In general the place is so good but the people I met to get the event organized was the worst. If you have an event please make your mind that you will be enjoying the place not the service! I hope their management team will learn from this and do something.

Regarding the 360 lounge floor 14 on Friday evening the service was bad as the waiter had an attitude and was being a bit sexist. Went there for the view got a table was told that it was for bottle service or nothing and the waiters and their supervisor made us feel soo uncomfortable by coming to our table multiple times and placing the “reserved “ plaque on our table as we were seated. We had to leave.

We stayed more than 20 days from the day we checked-in to we checked out, the services we received were consistent and awesome. We will always stay here whenever we visit Ethiopia. Keep up the excellent performance

The first time going the waitress never came back with our drinks after waiting 20 minutes and when we return another day she demand we pay her for the drinks we never recieved 2 nights before.

Customer Service is much better, I’m happy that they are on top of all the reviews to better themselves. I love the place, we had chicken curry and lasagna. The chicken curry is very good the portions are filling. The lasagna is very good but could use more sauce it’s very dry and cheesy. I would definitely love to come back 👏👏

Its has a great view quite and nice place to be but the service isn't great most of the foods on the menu where not available.

mildew smell throughout, esp in our room. shower didn’t drain, but room looks like the photo. TBH if you’re on a budget budget and don’t want to spend a lot, you’ll survive. but ultimately the stink deterred me and i got another hotel for marginally more money. roof bar doesn’t use dissolved sugar in their drinks, so be sure to ask for something else on the side if you like things sweeter. don’t expect flavor of pizza to be like italian pizza, ask for koch kocha on side. tomato pasta was actually decent. if you’re from another country, and want a burger, just be sure to ask for it well done so it’s not rare.

The service at the 360 rooftop lounge is truly amazing, complemented by outstanding food. It delivers exactly what one would expect from a top-notch establishment.

Great roof top view and live music on Sunday 6:30pm+. Had an amazing time. Only thing i would recommend is adding more staff as it was hard getting noticed by the ones already on the floor running around and not quick ordering and serving orders. I can see the server vs customer ratio was way low and they’re overworking and customers having to wait very long for orders.

The staff were gracious from my arrival to my departure, and were there whenever I needed them. I felt not only welcome at the hotel, but because of the environment they created I felt at home in Monarch Hotel Ethiopia. I stayed at Monarch for three weeks. The room was beautiful, and cleaned to perfection every day. The breakfast was delicious, the best breakfast buffet I have ever experienced. My favorite was Chechebsa and the Egg omelette. Special thank you to lounge 360. Thank you Surfial for going above and beyond to make my stay at Monarch memorable. Definitely will be back to Monarch Hotel Ethiopia.

I like the view of Addis from the rooftop 13th floor (360 Lounge). It's really nice place specially to going out for a dating. They have a very nice pizza. You can seat there drinking a draft too. Very nice hospitality.

I absolutely hated eating in the restaurant. No service at all. If you finish eating main course, no one bothers to ask you if you want anything else or even a bill. You're just completely ignored and it takes forever to get a bill. I even tried to get the attention of passing waitstaff but it's almost like they are trying to avoid you. I sat and purposefully waited to see how long I would be ignored after eating and it was well over 1 hour. Absolutely deplorable level of service. If you want to eat and not pay...this is the place to do it. No one will even notice you. This happened more than once. This is exactly why people should work for tips...

Monarch is such a great spot to spend quality time either solo or with others. They have beautifully filled up the place with plants, partial outdoor setting let's you see Addis' skyline from the 13th and 14th floors. The food is tasty and staff are cooperative. House special a bit overpriced but delicious.

Am staying here it’s my 3rd day and am fully disappointed by your services… low class services and very disappointed by the management and people working here…what a shame you take peoples money to offer them the most useless services … the whole team should just pack and go home or else you are losing business big time ….
