Such a fun and HUGE place. Went around 11am on a Sunday. About a four minute wait in line to order at the counter. Huge portions. Good New Mexico style food. We had chicken enchiladas, Frontier burrito and chips and salsa. Both meals also came with warm tortillas and honey. Made for a tasty dessert.

Tasty food that was ready quickly. Fun, relaxed vibe with tons of tables. Seems like they get pretty busy but they've got a good system down. We were there when it wasn't busy and our order was ready in under 10 minutes. Order at a counter and they have order number screens around the restaurant so you know when yours is ready. Kind of a sit-down style meal with fast good speed and ordering. Lots of locals and very inexpensive (my 4 pancakes were 6 or 7 dollars or something like that.)

Probably the worst Mexican food we had in NM. We went by the number of reviews and went here for dinner before our flight. It is self service and ordering at counter. We got the taco enchilada combo. Chicken was not seasoned at all. Huge portions but not much flavor. Probably popular with students and people who want big portions. Dessert we could not even eat. Save your time and go somewhere else.

Flew in, got our hotel and asked the receptionist for a local spot to eat. She recommended coming here. I was not disappointed. Good was tasty, staff was very friendly and helpful. We got a Cinnamon Roll free when we showed our flight ticket. It was so delicious, all I was missing was the coffee.

We were only in town for three days and yet we ate here every day. The breakfast burrito with sausage is something I will be craving for months. The sweet roll is definitely something I can understand as being the staple, and if you love buttery rich sweets then you have to try it. We had it at lunch time but I wouldn’t want to have it for breakfast bc it’s a little rich. It is however DELICIOUS. The pancakes are also delicious. And they have fresh squeezed orange juice you should definitely get. Long story short, there’s a reason this place has been here for decades. Go try it while you’re in town.

This is a pretty iconic Albuquerque eatery from what I’m told. It has a unique atmosphere and the building has a lot of character and history. The food is solid. I want to come back and try some more items. Loved the green Chile stew. The hard taco uses a shell similar to Taco Bell, but better. If the ground beef tacos at Taco Bell or as good as they are at frontier, people would be lining up out the window all day long to get them. I want to come back and try the chicken taco. Huevos rancheros were solid. I had them with green and red chili, one each, Christmas style. The green chili cheeseburger was also good and the fries were crispy and delicious. Green Chile stew ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Green Chile cheeseburger ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ground beef hard taco ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Huevos Rancheros ⭐️⭐️⭐️

After reading all the positive reviews, my husband and I went here last night with high hopes. Sadly, we were disappointed. It could be that we are used to authentic Mexican food. We have lived all our lives in deep South Texas close to the Mexican border. With that said, the food at Frontier lacked the flavor I was expecting. It was average to us. Sorry. I did like the flour tortilla though. The people working there are friendly too and there’s plenty of seating. Parking is a little tough, but we found a spot right away.

A staple for UNM students past and present and others too. This place never EVER disappoints!! The food is simply amazing. Be sure to try the homemade tortillas fresh off their famous tortilla machine with a bowl of green chili stew, mmm!! Or better yet, get the tortillas by the dozen. Prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Be sure to check out the pictures and articles of local history! A true gem that stands the test of time!!

I was a bit disappointed with my enchiladas here. The price was right, but there was a real lack of flavor. If you're hungry and you want something cheap and fast, then this will hit the spot. I probably wouldn't come back often if I lived in the area. The best thing was the fresh made tortilla.

Great food in a really neat restaurant! There are plenty of selections available on the menu, the Frontier Burrito was excellent. They have tortillas that can be bought in bulk and are some of the best in town. There is a good amount of parking available, but most spots have 45 minute limit. There is plenty of seating available in the restaurant and there isn't a long wait for the food. Great place, don't miss it!

It’s so casual and the environment is awesome as you can see beautiful paintings and artifacts. Food is delicious, served quick and price is fair. I had a burrito and I was full for rest of the day. Don’t forget to add freshly squeezed orange juice to your order. I will definitely visit again if I happen to travel around ABQ.

This place gets busy and I can see why. The frontier burrito was fantastic and they have fresh salsa that pairs well with it. The cinnamon rolls are mentioned throughout these reviews for good reason. I would solely return for the cinnamon rolls. Let’s not leave out the ambiance. Huge establishment with all sorts of art spread throughout that brings life to this great restaurant in this great city. Shout out to ABQ.

Popular spot with a lot of history, located right across from the University of New Mexico. The food is decent and it is prepared quickly. A number of meals are under $10 if you do not order a drink. I heard the Orange Juice is great, but I did not get a chance to try it. Lots of indoor seating with an extensive collection of original artwork on the walls, making it a unique experience.

We really enjoyed our time here. Frontier is a very busy place, with good food at unbeatable prices. We saw several people playing chess and checkers (like, seriously playing! Taking notes of the moves and all… how neat is that?) I had half order of chicken nachos, which tasted like homemade food, as well as my friend’s burrito. She also ordered a sweet roll with topping (we believe is cinnamon butter), which was fresh and warm. It’s a very simple, familiar place to have a decent meal for an affordable price. Nothing fancy nor pretentious, Frontier is where locals come at all times and 45 years of history must have a good reason. Definitely returning. P.s. “Then, why 4 stars only?” You might be wondering… well, when I give 5 starts in a review, it is because the place is simply out of this world, in my opinion. I’m sure many of you may give it the 5 stars, which is absolutely fine, but I am a bit tough about ratings. Anyways, don’t miss the chance to stop by Frontier.

Walk up counter service Mexican food joint. Food is good. There is a ton of southwest art work. Dominated by John Wayne. Plenty of seating to handle even large crowds.

It was packed at 11am when we came for breakfast rush and the line was 20+ min long. Absolutely worth it. Great food made fast and cozy hometown ambiance. Really liked the eclectic decor and artwork that helps give Frontier an iconic and unique local character. The restaurant was much larger than I expected, felt like they just kept expanding into the buildings next door. So many spaces for seating that were full of people. Buttery cinnamon rolls were to die for. If I was a local I could see myself coming here all the time.

This is a causal spot if you're looking for a quick meal and to try New Mexico food like us. We thought the food was tasty, but it was our first time having New Mexico food so we had nothing to compare it to. The atmosphere was fun with great artwork/photos all over. If you are looking for something more high end this is not your spot!

Can definitely say that nothing here is bad. All the food is amazing and the staff are super friendly and nice. Prices aren't too bad and it has such a lively vibe to it:) The cooks are superb.

Good food, better portions! This restaurant encapsulated the whole Albuquerque feel. Place your order and wait until your numbers called and make sure that you get something with Green Chile! I would go back.

A classic ABQ greasy-spoon counter-serve staple. There’s just the one location on Central. The atmosphere is Western-meets-60s-diner. The same owners own Golden Pride. When your order number is shown on the screens throughout the restaurant, you go and pick it up and then visit the condiment and drink stations. The fries were nice and crispy. I ordered the Bonanza burger, which has double meat, American cheese, 1000 island dressing, tomato, pickles, onions & lettuce. I ordered mine with extra dressing. The burger was good. I wish it had come on a plate in addition to the paper burger holder. Overall, if you’re in the mood for a dive near the university campus, it’ll fit the bill.

This is a large and apparently very popular restaurant in Albuquerque just across the street from the University of New Mexico. It was recommended to us by our grandson who goes to school there. It is set up like fast food restaurant where you order at the front and wait until your number is called. We had to wait quite a while for our order and then had to go get it. To me, I had a cheese burger and fries, it was quite ordinary. Would have been just as happy with a true fast food burger.
