Diary of a curious person. Friday, March 3, 2023, 5:40 p.m. Church of worship from the 16th century dedicated to the Virgin of the Sea. Originally the church belonged to the convent of Santo Domingo, disentailed in 1835. At the end of the 19th century the Dominicans recovered the temple.

Nice church although looking at the reviews I expected something better. It's okay but there's nothing to highlight. To enter and take a look is fine but little more.

The Virgen del Mar church is an attractive place of worship situated in heart of the old town in Almería. It is located in the Plaza Virgen del Mar. Park benches and attractive trees line the little park on the side of the square. These trees, ficus retusa, are to be found in many streets in Almería. I have attended classical concerts in this lovely church - usually at Easter.

(Translated by Google) The Sanctuary of the Virgen del Mar is the temple of the Patroness of Almería. The church, run by the Dominicans, houses a Baroque-style decoration inside. It has two covers from the 19th century, it suffered significant damage during the Spanish Civil War in 1936, and was subsequently restored. Recommended visit. The sanctuary of the Virgin of the Sea, houses the patron saint of the city of Almería, who is the Virgin of the Sea. On the last Sunday of August, it is taken out in a procession and throughout that weekend there are events, such as seeing the Virgin a few meters away, as you pass by her. Masses are celebrated at different times, especially on weekends. It is a sanctuary that has many worshipers. It is well maintained and clean. If you go to Almería, do not hesitate to visit it.

The patron saint of Almería is located in this Sanctuary. It is a classic image from the 14th century holding the baby Jesus. The main chapel is very attractive. It is a highly recommended visit

A monument worth seeing, the shame is that there was a wedding and I was not able to see it in depth and carefully.

A very beautiful Sanctuary where I attended a wonderful wedding. Place where the patron saint of Almería is located. Curious fact, there is a child of God or "ball boy" as we affectionately call him, who is sitting taking a nap. Endearing.

I lived right opposite this for a year and can vouch for the fact it is a attractive and often busy place of worship, in the Plaza Virgen del Mar. The weddings especially along with the festival processions are always quite a spectacle and charming to watch; inside the church is an elaborate creation or maybe I should say representation of creation. It a pleasant square too and there are plenty of benches to sit on and reflect on life as well as a bar too should you be feeling thirsty.

Hoy se celebra el miércoles de ceniza y los Padres dominicos nos la han puesto, recordando que polvo somos y en polvo nos convertiremos, hay que convertirse.
