A quick pitstop and quite a beautiful one where you can essentially see the tunnel entrance and the backwater of the Tunga Bhadra Dam. There were a few ways to get to the water's edge, although not sure how. There are lights illuminating the tunnel during the night as well as the day.

Nice Pitstop whilst travelling on this road. Essentially you get to see vastness of backwater along with the tunnel entrance. There were some options to get to waterside but not sure if they were authorised ways. Sunsets would be quite pretty I suppose but we visited just early afternoon

The shore is beautiful. Such a green place and we can drive till the end of the shore. The sunset is mesmerizing from here. We found this place on our way from Bangalore to Hampi in the morning and we planned to visit it on our way to Bangalore. We planned the time and visited around 5-6:30 PM. It was such a refreshing moment we had. The lake wasn't clean and that was the only bad feeling I had. Otherwise it's a beautiful place to spend some quality time.

Tungabhadra Dam , Good location which give a close view of both dam water and tunnel...... The tunnel is built stunningly..... The view will be pleasing during rainy and Winter season. The tunnel is lighted with yellow lights...... It's good place photography and Good view point to dam good nature to spend time...... Halted for sometime on the way, its a nice and beautiful place to take a short break from journey...... Its not a place for overnight stay...... First time I saw, I thought it's the ocean. Quickly realized that Hospet is not a coastal city. Amazing view of the reservoir. Best time to visit will be early morning and evenings.....

The only public place for sightseeing on Bangalore Solapur highway where you can halt and proceed. Dam Backwaters of Tungabhadra river is a sight to see when it is at prime. Especially early mornings and evenings are a sightseeing prime times. There is parking space on sideways where you can park and walk towards the place. Ideal for a break during long drives. Tunnel is another good experience. Strictly no vehicles are supposed to stop inside the tunnel as it will be life threatening.

The view of the dam is exceptional and sure will take blow your mind. From the bridge the dam and shore will look more like a drawing. Cars can go to the shore of the dam but keep in mind that few places will be muddy and can cause your wheels to sink. Since it's covered by green grass you will not be able to distinguish solid ground with loose muddy areas.

The Tungabhadra Dam also known as Pampa Sagar is constructed across the Tungabhadra River, a tributary of the Krishna River. The dam is in Hosapete, Vijayanagara district of Karnataka. It is a multipurpose dam serving irrigation, electricity generation, flood control, etc. This is a joint project of erstwhile Hyderabad state and erstwhile Madras Presidency when the construction was started; later it became a joint project of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh after its completion in 1953. The main architect of the dam was Vepa Krishnamurthy, ISE, Engineer-in-Chief, Hyderabad State, after Police Action, an engineer from Madras PWD. There is a dispute between Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka for the water of Tungabhadra reservoir. He argued for the stability and longevity of the Dam, built of Surki Mortar viz a combination of mud and limestone.

Wonderful and peaceful place. This is the first location you come accross before you reach Hospet or Hampi.. don't miss. This view followed by tunnel, it's like getting into a new world.

The backwaters is humongous. It feels like looking at a sea. Driving through tunnel was a first of its kind of experience for me. There is a small pit stop area provided before reaching the tunnel. Sad to see the view point was very dirty. I request visitors to not litter the place and enjoy the view and drive.
