Nice guys but probably the worst haircut I’ve ever had. Judging by the other reviews maybe I just got unlucky but I think the photos speak for themselves. I did have a good haircut here once before but this time I look like I’ve been attacked by a blunt lawnmower. - response: I guess I could send you the bank statement if you really like. I’d be curious to know how exactly you’d plan to find a solution though?

Had a great experience here last month, would highly recommend getting a cut with Travis. Super professional, very attentive at ensuring the cut was understood before getting started, and the whole shop is just really laid back. Great artwork throughout, talented staff, excellent service, will definitely be back.

Highly recommend this shop for any hair services. It’s a similar price to all shops I’ve been to and the service is top rated. It’s not easy to do a walk in so book ahead of time. You will pay when you book online (bring Euros if you want to tip) Veera (I hope I spelled it properly) did a fantastic job with my haircut. She was very precise and still gentle. I noticed that she double checked everything. It was not rushed but it was complete in a very timely manner. As I got my cut, I looked over at the other customer where they received a very similar service from the other barber. The shop had a very welcome atmosphere and is decorated nicely with classic themed displays. I would visit this shop again if it were possible but I hope others enjoy the same service I did.

A very satisfying experience. I read several reviews about the place and how the owner(s) are responsive for most of the reviews. I booked my appointment with Casper on the same day. Communication with Casper was smooth. He understood what I wanted and gave recommendations on how to maintain healthy hair. He was calm and dedicated to his job. He made sure every area was perfect and blended well. After the hair cut Casper gave a head massage. It was very relaxing. Definitely gonna come back :)

Awesome staff and shop! A friend and I booked in for a hair cut, a little hesitant being used to our own barbers back home (uk). Within minutes Travis made me feel at ease he listened and communicated back exactly what I wanted to hear and hooked me up with a fresh skin fade and beard shape, He took his time and got it perfect. I don’t review much at all but this place and Travis especially deserve it. Travis is one slick sick barber he moves his scissors like Some martial arts weapon flicking them back and forth whilst lining up fresh hair with a comb ready to be cut. The staff in general were all super nice the location couldn’t be better being in the centre of the red light area and a short walk from the central station.

These guys get me right all the time. From the get-go you know they mean business. You're offered a drink (I personally love to get me a cold Heineken before the trim), and all throughout the cut (if you're open to it) they are some of the nicest and funniest people to talk to. The ambient is great, the establishment looks like a real old-timey barbershop with wooden interiors and vintage chairs. Their professional treatment of beards and hair is well worth the price. Last time I was out in less than half an hour with the cleanest cut I've had in years. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a professional, friendly service at your baseline Amsterdam price.

I was directed here by the Volkshotel staff for a beard trim. Loris did a fantastic job, and demonstrated true craft. It was my first time in the city, and it's nice to know where to go if you wanna look fresh for the travel photos.

Love. This. Place. It is one of the coolest barbershops that I've been to ever. Top 3, Def. (And I'm including my own home because my pops used to give me a cut). District Barber has a definite concept and style, but it isn't pretentious like some other places that try and do the same. All of the staff inside looks hip, it's almost like they were casted for a Hollywood movie. The cuts are a bit on the pricey side, but not terribly so and it's worth it! This isn't related to any of their cutting skills, but the music playlist is also always on point! They also sell beautiful sustainable jewelry made by small businesses and hair products, of course. It is right in the middle of the Red Light but it is def worth fighting threw the annoying tourists!

Now I understand why there are so many good reviews. Finally i met the barber i need. Travis is so good and humble, amazing at his skill. I loved whole conversation, the haircut, the shop 👌. Loved it

The professionalism, friendliness and skill of Casper were well above and beyond most barbers I have been to. I’ve been in the business, and I am a regular to a barber’s chair, and Casper exceeded them all. The atmosphere at the District is perfectly suited and what you should expect in a non franchised barber shop with impeccable style. The straight razor shave, a dying art, was immaculate and exactly what I needed after a long travel from California. Perfect cure for my jet lag. I highly recommend this shop and Casper.

Small, winding shop (reminiscent of Ollivanders in Diagon Alley) with nice people. Not a chain but a cooperation between two small shops. Book in advance. Relaxation with coffee and music while you wait. I'd love to come back.

Had my hair cut by Kieren. Top quality hair cut - he talks through what he’s doing and why so you know you’re getting the best possible cut to fit your specific hair style and head shape. He’s clearly an expert in what he does. The vibe is really cool and all the staff are super friendly and welcoming. For the quality of cut and service, the price is exceptionally good 👌🏻 Can’t recommend the location or Kieren himself highly enough. He’s also got a sick moustache.

Exceptional beard trim and wet shave by the South African guy. His attention to detail went beyond what I normally have elsewhere and was really noticed. I left looking and feeling great and definitely will return.

For years this has been my go to barbershop right in the busy city of Amsterdam. The vibe, the professional, genuine, friendly and chill crew makes you feel welcome and keeps you coming back to this awesome place. Every barber that works here is very talented. My personal barber of choice is “Cut and Throat Travis”. He knows his customers very well and understands what their needs are. He is very talented, he knows his craft, he has good vibes and has seriously nice tattoos on his arms. He is always exceeding expectations. Highly recommended before you just walk in, to make an appointment on their website. There are times where it is really busy and all of their appointments are completely booked.

These guys are brilliant. If you want a barber that listens to you, understands beards and shaving, look no further. I personally find it very difficult to find a barber that offers the complete service - hot towels, oils, razor and a cold beer. Thanks Barber District. We will be sure to let our Dutch and Australian family and friends know about you. We will be back!

Literally made an appointment a hour ago on the phone and they just forgot about it and I really needed a haircut. Don’t go to this place if you need a haircut a hour before it’s not reliable

Excellent barber with a great vibe. Jeffrey was a true professional who checked in repeatedly throughout the experience to make sure I was happy with the cut. The result: one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. The store itself exudes cool and, in a sign of the quality of this store, they use and sell a range of high quality products like Ruezel, Proraso, and Olaplex. Communication no problem for English speakers if you can’t speak Dutch. Can’t recommend this place enough!
