Cannot say enough about this bar. It should be an institution. A neighborhood gathering spot. It was so great that I had to return, which I rarely do at any establishment. Great location next to a canal and right off of a very busy/touristy street. An escape from the crowds, it's like you time warp into an older time when a barkeep was like the local mayor. The options and the quality are off the charts. They make their own spirits, some unique genever, carry some other great European booze, and the highlight is the German beer offerings, both draft and bottle. They had stuff I can't even find in Germany! For food, a small board of old cheese and fresh salami is available. Everyone who comes in is genuine and they're for good company and good drink. I can confidently say this is one of the best bars in Amsterdam and it was certainly one of my best memories from my visit to a great city.

I was feeling particularly adventurous when I wandered through a random open door in Amsterdam. Glad I did, it wasone of the highlights of my trip. The bartender will take you on a journey of dutch flavoured gins.

The bartender is a very nice person that helps you feel welcomed right after you enter. The beer selection is pretty good in my experience and the wood tables and vintage decor helps sell this place as a must-go. And a must-return for me. C=

The best local place in the city with delicious liquors.

Really wonderful hidden gem. It's a "proeflokal" meaning a place to taste and try things. Het Kelkje is the proeflokal of a local Amsterdam distillery that makes all kinds of tasty spirits. To accompany all their house made spirits they're also specialized with a nice selection of German and Czech beers.

Tasty beer, friendly bartender, cute dog, chill waterfront vibe. What's not to like?

Tested several jenevers, all good, ended with a kopstootje and after a great explanation of the jenevers I went home with a bottle I loved the most

Had the greatest of times. The Bar had a great atmosphere and a very fulfilling array of beers for everyone's tastes. The service was the best I've seen in a while, Tim was as funny as he was efficient, if every bar had a bartender this thoughtful and this knowledgeable they'd be always packed. Tyvm for the warm and carefull service, hope to be here a lot of times!

A very low key Beer and Gin/ Jenever spot right downtown. The beer was excellent and served in Steins, the atmosphere was casual and had a nice neighborly feel, and the service (Tim) was excellent, we enjoyed it so much we went twice!

Hidden gem! Fantastic selection of liqueurs, genever, beer - accompanied by great staff. Easily 10/10. Take your time here and enjoy.
