One of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. It’s old school authentic design is so cool, from unique antique pieces to carpet table cloth. Food was delicious, absolutely everything we ordered. My personal favorites were escargot and dover sole. Service is incredible, we had a 3 years old with us and she got a lot of attention from Emil, she absolutely loved it. Thank you for that! Also if go with a kid order peas soup!

A small cozy restaurant. The staff was wonderful though the place was very busy. Food was good so was the wine. We picked this restaurant as we wanted to try some local Dutch food and they didn’t disappoint.

Amazing Dutch restaurant. This place is very traditional and beautiful looking. Servers were patient and kind and the food is delicious. Amazing selection of soups too! The spareribs were cooked perfectly. And everything is reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Had a great dinner here while in Amsterdam. Food is delicious but the highlight was the service—the waiters here are very attentive and personable. Definitely make a reservation in advance as they were fully booked and constantly turning people away.

Welcoming and warm restaurant, with excellent food. Went in on my own, and tried the Dutch Beef stew. Flavourful, only a slightly little bit salty and maybe the beef lacked more marbling which will bring it to the next level. The mash was buttery and smooth, the beans, brussel sprouts and carrots were fresh and sweet. The addition of an apple sauce, kind of (personally), worked as a palette cleanser, slightly sweet but very refreshing as it was cold. Portions were fairly big and even as an adult male I struggled to finish the whole thing. Excellent atmosphere with responsive and helpful servers. Special on the board was a hallibut fillet but a pity I was on my own. Bar serves a variety of drinks as well, including local craft beers. Slightly dated decor, but suits the setting of the restaurant. Slightly pricey, but would return with friends, if ever in Amsterdam again, to see if they are keeping up their standards :)

My partner and I visited this restaurant for a true Dutch dinner experience, and overall we were pleased but not more than that. Based on the reviews I decided to take the beef stew and it was okay, but it didn't blow my mind. Maybe my expectations were too high, but it kinda tasted like food my mother would make in the winter- it's not bad, just not unlike anything I've ever had. My partner got the fish stew which I actually loved and thought it was much better. Overall I'd recommend this place to people visiting Amsterdam, as the food is truly as homey as it can get

Couldn't fault this place, we enjoyed it so much we booked to go back the night after. First night we went because we wanted traditional Dutch, which we had, it was really delicious, felt home made and everything coming out of the kitchen looked so good... So we went back and had ribs which were just as delicious... And don't forget the apple pie to finish. We booked online which was easy enough to do... I recommend booking it's very popular

Landed in Amsterdam this morning for our first visit. After a full day of sightseeing, we had worked up quite the appetite so we took to the streets to find a local eatery and wow were we lucky to find this cozy gem of a restaurant. They take reservations and were booked full tonight and heard them say tomorrow as well so highly recommend making reservations in advance. We were very, very fortunate as they welcomed us and made room for our table of 2. Our food - bread with herb butter, pork schnitzel with roasted potatoes and salad and pork schnitzel cordon blue also with roast potatoes and salad - was nothing short of amazing. We left with full bellies and big smiles. But this review would never be complete without calling out the management and staff. They were all so very kind, welcoming and attentive. Josh and I 10/10 recommend Restaurant ‘t Zwaantje.

There are wonderful restaurants in the Jordaan district. What a phenomenal part of town. We literally walked by 't Zwaantje and thought "well, this looks nice." What an understatement. Truly a great meal in a comfortable setting with highly professional staff and spectacular dishes. Absolutely a hit on our last night in town.

very amazing Dutch food restaurant!!! absolutely heavenly food especially the spare ribs!!! grandmas stew and beer were also great. gigantic portions, so if you’re ordering a main each, go light on the sides. the place gets busy after 6pm, so make a reservation or arrive early.

A fantastic and authentic Dutch restaurant serving genuine Dutch fare. A small (and popular) eatery so I do strongly advise booking in advance. The decor is very rustic and homely. The menu is wide-ranging and very reasonably priced. My husband and I took the opportunity to sample the famous Dutch dish 'Stamppot', which was magnificent - though I couldn't finish it all because the portion sizes are enormous. I also took the opportunity to try the Dutch Jenever gin, which was one of the nicest I've ever sampled. Service was excellent. We visit Amsterdam annually and will certainly be back here in the future.

Great staff, great food, great location. Even though the waiters were understaffed this evening, they still managed to provide excellent, friendly service. For your starters, you can't go wrong with the snails. Absolutely delicious. For your mains I would definitely recommend Grandma's Stew and/or the steamed mussels. Wash it down with a nice pint of Amstel in tap, and the night will be one for the books. We will definitely be back!

HIGHLY recommend grandma’s stew here- the beef was so tender and fall apart good! My husband enjoyed his pork cordon bleu too! The meat is what really shines in this place- I found the vegetables to be a little lacking in seasoning, but maybe that’s on purpose because the meat dishes are so flavorful? Service was nice- I would recommend ordering a beer from the board that’s hanging up in the restaurant (we ordered two glasses of wine from the menu and they were tiny 😂) but seriously come eat grandma’s stew- it is a Dutch dish and it was incredible!

Lovely little Dutch restaurant in the centre of Amsterdam. All the staff were so lovely and friendly and the food was 10/10 (although the portion sizes are very generous so if you’re not too hungry I would recommend sharing). We had the mussels and shrimp cocktail for starters 10/10 and the grandma stew and cod for mains. Definitely recommend if you want to try traditional Dutch food!

What a great experience; food was great and servers were so caring and friendly. Tried the mussels (very worth ordering), grandma’s stew (a bit salty), and the apple pie (cinnamon ice cream was so good).

After a couple of years living in Amsterdam it was the time to try a typical Dutch restaurant. I had dinner at Zwaantje with my partner, my brother and his girlfriend and we all liked the food and the place. Particularly, we enjoyed the mussels and the Dutch stew and stamppot; it is also worth mentioning the impeccable service and cozy atmosphere of the place. I will definitely come back!

A delicious meal enjoyed here with my boyfriend on the first night in Amsterdam. To begin we sat at the bar with gin and tonics while we waited for our table to be prepared. Then we began our meal with trying the eel…. Delicious! We had the traditional Grandmas stew and Stamppot for mains… Again delicious!!! The waiters were so friendly and welcoming, very chatty and enthusiastic. Was amazing to try the traditional Dutch food for our first night in Amsterdam and we wished we had time for another dinner here. Maybe in the future we will have the luck to dine at Zwaantje again! Prices were so reasonable we insisted on leaving a generous tip for the kind staff. Thank you for a memorable evening

What a gem! Excellent atmosphere, very cosy, excellent service, the staff could not be more friendly which saved NL for us, based on service we received on our hotels and other places. Definitely coming back, the food was delicious. Make sure you book in advance.

Very cozy and tiny place with delicious Dutch cuisine! Waiters were great and very helpful! I really do recommend to plan a dinner there, when in Amsterdam - this place is truly unique!

Big portion sizes, make sure you go empty stomach. The decor is very old school that's what I was looking for. The building was rebuilt 100 years ago and you can see it is pretty old. The surrounding buildings are 300 years old.

Best one we tried in Amsterdam! Amazing traditional dishes, great deserts and the funniest waiter (in a good sense). They were also very accommodating with our many requests and recommended some great things from the menu.

Service was great! All staff members were nice and attentive and very funny! The portions may be a bit big - or we simply ordered too much!

It’s a great local Dutch restaurant with old quaint dutch tavern atmosphere. They served authentic local Dutch cuisine. The grandma’s beef stewed was delicious. They served it with the apple sauce to make it a bit sweet. The Stampot was okay .. a little to bland for me. And last the beer 🍺 was great.

The food portion was huge and wholesome with a variety of vegetables and meat. The cod, beef stew, and pea soup is amazing. The lobster bisque felt rather diluted though. Overall great experience.

Very cosy atmospheric Dutch restaurant. We both had the mussels to share as a starter, which was delicious with the bread and garlic butter. For main my husband had the classic pork schnitzel and I had the one stuffed with ham & cheese. We both preferred the classic one. Very generous portions with a side of chips and salad. The service was very friendly.

Super friendly and helpful staff. Delicious food. Nice atmosphere. The traditional Dutch pea soup was excellent. My main course, “Grandmas beef stew” was one of the best dishes I’ve had in a while. Caution: The portions are huge! The Cod my wife ordered was also delicious. It was served with a garden, salad and a bowl of crisp, golden brown fries. The fries were perfectly done. Regrettably, I had no room left for dessert after that huge meal. I will have to go back for the Dutch semolina pudding. See the menu.

Food was good but had to wait over 30 mins to be seated despite tables being available. Also when my food came, it was the wrong dish and so had to be sent back. The replacement dish was very good however and money was taken off the bill. Can see the appeal as it is very authentic and quite cosy, almost brasserie-like. Would have given 4 or 5 stars if it wasn't for the wait and the error on my dish.

🍴 If you're looking for a true taste of Dutch cuisine, Restaurant 't Zwaantje in Amsterdam is the place to be! This cozy little restaurant looks like a traditional local tavern, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The staff is incredibly friendly and the food is absolutely amazing. The restaurant is a great value for money and the perfect spot for a hearty meal. If you're looking for a cozy spot to try some authentic Dutch cuisine, Restaurant 't Zwaantje is a must-visit. A great place for a Dutch meal! We asked the waiter for recommendations and were glad we did. "Grandma's beef stew" was a hit, as were the mussels. I enjoyed the cod with mustard sauce. Excellent frites, too. We got several desserts to share; then chocolate mousse was the winner. Great ambiance, cozy and old-fashioned, friendly service. Reservations recommended!

Had reservations for 2 and was seated directly. Grandma's beef stew with cooked vegetables and the sirloin entree. Generous portions. Really succulent beef. Friendly and welcoming waitress advised eating the stew gravy with the mashed potato. Genius.

They serve Dutch/French cuisine in a cozy and vintage setting. It is a perfect place to dine at a winter night. Their escargot was the best one I’ve ever had.

Overall great. Need to book in advance. All the waiters were super and nice. We had ‘Snert’, sort of a pea soup (traditional dutch, better than expected) Moules Frites - okay, good portion for the size Traditional Stamppot (least favourite but quite okay) Total 54.75 for two main course, one soup and two beers Will come again, recommended:-)

We wanted to try something local and Zwaantje did not disappoint. We had emails and mussels for starters - divine, with lots of bread to mop up the sauce. We had grandmother's beef stew as main, comfort food at its heart, filling, tasty, warming. Definitely recommend.

The best food in Amsterdam!!. We didn't make a reservation but the staff was very nice so they allowed us to eat. The price is quite fair for the size of the dishes. Delicious food!!. The place is really small but comfy.

Ate here three years ago. It was the place we came to first when we came back. We ordered the same thing we'd been thinking about for three years. Grandma's Stew and muscles. It was exceptional.
