When we arrived at the hotel, it was in ruins. When we discovered the entrance, we were greeted by a very unpleasant woman who did not want to leave our suitcase there and simply said that check-in is at 3:00 p.m. We left with our suitcases to kill time, and when we returned there were only the workers. We were waiting for more than 10 minutes for the “receptionist”. He gave us the room card and we had to go out to the street to access the room area. The stairs were very steep and had worn carpet. Upon arrival to the room, it was dirty, with bugs in the bathroom and room. Shortly after arriving at the room, the receptionist arrived to demand that we pay the tourist tax. Everything very professional! The only good thing about this accommodation is the location.

This is a cute little hotel with a cafe on the street level. To check in you must go inside the cafe and up to the counter. The ladies will check you in and walk you to the hotel entrance. The stairs are steep and typical of older buildings in Amsterdam. If you're carrying luggage it's a bit of a workout. The room we rented had two twin beds. The toilet and shower were separated but in the room so you don't have to share with people hostel style. Everything in the room worked fine. It's location is great. It's not in the heart and overrun by tourists. It's right outside of the city center. It's a short ride to the red light district. The Anne Frank house is within walking distance (about 10 minutes). It's a 30 minute walk to the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh museum from here. Great little place to stay. The cafe serves great food and beer too!

The only good thing is the situation. The hotel is in ruins. The treatment is terrible. The treatment received leaves something to be desired, 0 empathy. The rooms do not correspond to the photographs shown. The mattresses have obvious stains. The rooms have bugs stuck with age. The bathroom does not have enough space.

There was no one - we had to call the owner... Breakfast was not possible, although we ordered it at booking. Owner was friendly and helpful though. Rooms were clean, but not modern.

TOURIST TRAP! Absolutely not recommended. 1) Uncomfortable bedroom, picture on Booking doesn't reflect the reality. Room not only extremely small (I almost could not open the luggage) but dirty and with a super old and used bed. Results you can not move if you don't want fall on the floor. I had to take medicine against the backache caused by this bed. 2) Totally impolite and useless staff: they are not cleaning the bedroom, no changing the towels. In my experience they just enter and move things around the bedroom to check your stuff. 3) as one night in this place is up to €100 I expected professional behaviour. This place it's a hostel and should cost as an hostel. 4) CHERRY on the cake: the window doesn't completely close, so you can heard everything or breath the smell of cigarettes from people in the street.

I'm going to start by saying this place is very small. There. That's my downside. This is a gorgeous hotel! I had a hard time finding information on it, so I was nervous at first, until I talked to the incredibly cheery woman at the cafe counter. We had a delicious lunch (I tried the mustard soup. Weird, but yum) and then checked in. We walked around to the side of the building, scanned our card, walked up the narrow stairs, and then walked in the the prettiest, lightest room. BIG windows, everything was white, and the beds were comfy. The bathroom was very small but everything is still new and very modern. We had breakfast in the cafe. The omelets were great, and the jasmine tea was delicious. Everything looked like it was straight off of Pinterest.....so pretty much a white girl's wet dream. The location is good if you want to be in walking distance of the party scene but don't want to deal with listening to that same party while you try and sleep. There are restaurants and cafes right outside. Another shoutout to the wonderful and friendly staff. They made our pleasant experience that much better.

While the room was nice and clean, the walls are very thin and you can hear everything your neighbors do. There was also no hot water in the shower. There was no information about wifi anywhere and the reception closes pretty early so there’s no one to ask. Overall it’s quite expensive for what you get.

Awful experience and overpriced place. Me and my mom stayed here for 2 days. The room was extremely dirty and we payed more than 200€ per night. There were old candies and garbage under the bed, everything was full of dust, the bathroom was covered in mold, and the floor was awfully dirty. The duvet and the sheets had stains as well as the towels and the whole place smelled like onions throughout our whole stay. Honestly the place was gross. I would give it 0 stars if I could.

  • 4/5 Fadel E. 6 years ago on Google
Unique with a lot of carácter, 3rd floor stairs are rely steep it was hard to bring my wife luggage upstairs, plan for it. In general I like it for the price, my wife and and I got a good laugh getting our luggage upstairs. Good for the price.

So far it's okay, but I expected a little more for 135€/night. The rooms are clean but very small! Unfortunately the beds are too soft. Overall, very noisy. Unfortunately I can't say much about the staff as we didn't notice anything about them. Location very good and central. For one night, enough.

+ everything nearby and centrally located - room (#1) is very tiny and dirty - bed uncomfortable and small - mold smell in the room and in the staircase - safe was closed and locked - very noisy, you hear literally everything from the streets and your neighbors - breakfast times are elastic, we asked the lady for breakfast at 10am, she replied that food can be served in around an hour and for 7 guests it will last very long time for preparation.

We had the triple room, everything else was fine, top location. Downside: the drain was clogged and the toilet flush button was half off. Beautiful location by the way.

Rooms are on the compact size but are nicely decorated and have everything needed for a good stay. Cleaning of rooms was also good. The restaurant below is great for close by food and drinks. Situated in a semi busy area quite close to Eurostar Station, traffic mainly just bikes. While not exactly in the centre there are plenty of places to visit, eat and enjoy as well as things like supermarkets and pharmacies.

Second time staying at this hotel and staying in the same room! Love this hotel. It is basic and cosy but has everything you need! Room and bathroom were both spotless. Staff in the coffeeshop below are friendly and helpful. Love the location of this hotel. Its is surrounded by coffeeshops/deli’s/restaurants and lots of lovely boutique’s. We will definitely stay again and 100% recommend to friends and family. I think some of the reviews on here regarding the stairs up to the rooms are overreactive. The stairs are steep but that is to be expected in Amsterdam. Thank you Hotel Teun 💘

Cute tiny hotel in the middle of everything! Quick walk from central station. Super simple, yet cute and cozy rooms. Will stay again! Beware of the steep straits- might be difficult to maneuver with large suitcase.

good location only 15 mins into centre with nice bars and cafes on the way. So noisy you might as well sleep outside you can hear EVERYTHING. The housekeeping also walked into the room without knocking during a moment you don’t want sharing with a stranger! No reception or safe place for luggage to be kept and stairs were really steep.

Location is great. Central to everything. But the room is filthy. Bed is so small and uncomfortable. Like sleeping in a medical stretcher. The sheets are dirty and stained. I didn't expect much but this is bad. This hotel is in desperate need of three things. Housekeeping staff that know how to clean, a hotel manager that went to school and completed their degree and full on renovation.

central location, very close to the centre, the train station and many points of interest. · Wi-Fi present but not working. distraction of the staff, as we had booked a stay of 3 nights and 4 days, and we were left without toilet paper for 2 days.

We loved this place and will choose to stay here again when we return. The location is excellent, less than 15 minutes walk from the centre and train station, in a lovely area of Amsterdam full of locals and lovely shops, cafes and restaurants. The rooms are above a restaurant and the whole place is managed and owned by a lovely dutch guy, who when we had a small issue with the radiator, got fixed very fast. He's a very hard working man, who clearly loves his restaurant/ hotel. So he should. Its just lovely and charming! The stairs are steep, as mentioned in a few reviews, all part of the charm of a traditional Dutch house! Our room was at the front of the house, so on the road and it was surprisingly quiet we thought! Of course you get an occasional person or hear a dust cart, but it's mainly bicycles and pedestrians. The room was very well designed for the size, lovely layout and the decent sized bathroom had the most amazing shower. Summary, good price, great location, comfortable, clean. Thank you for making our visit to Amsterdam so special.

The location is fabulous, it doesn’t have a real reception but the staff downstairs in the restaurant is more than inviting. Had a great time overhere and can really recommand the food in the restaurant downstairs

Nice location, a little noisy due to the main road. We asked for the beds to be together but were separate when we arrived. There's no reception, this is done in the bar/restaurant area.

Friendly staff, restaurant and bar attached but unfortunately no vegan options. The rooms are cosy, although the all in one bathroom isn't ideal. Nice view of a busy Amsterdam street

The employee's / staff are the best. The location is very nice, as it's still close but not in the busiest area. The WC is modern which is very nice. As others have posted, bring smaller luggage as the stairs are typically of the era and location. You can't penellize the business for that. In addition, you may want to bring ear plugs as Amsterdam is densely populated. Not any fault of the business. Wonderful stay and restuarant.

If you are looking for an affordable roof over your head in a brilliant location, look no further. Yeah the room is small and the on the top floor the wifi was a bit of a hassle and the temperature control was difficult, but who goes to Amsterdam to sit in their room? From here you are withing walking distance of pretty much everything you want to see in Amsterdam Central. Take a beautiful little stroll into any direction from here and you will not be disappointed. Good location, good price, good host and a bar on the bottom floor.

Lovely spot for breakfast or lunch! It is a hotel restaurant and so prices are a bit high--especially when they ask for over 8 euros for coffee and a croissant with jam. But I do admit the croissant was fresh, hot and perfect! Service was slow at first because there was only one server in the morning, but she was excellent and extremely welcoming. The ambience is great whether outside or in, and I will likely stop here again when passing along Haarlemmerdijk.
